Can't give out zero stars, so I had to give it one. Can't believe this place. I asked for a side salad instead of my two sides. Now granted a side salad is $1.29! All I wanted is no sides and a salad instead. Well the manager came over and said that can't do that. Unbelievable!!! So, I said, hold the sides and charge me the $1.29. Can't believe that just lost two customers from ever coming back into this place. Not to mention when all my friends ask me about this place and I tell them I won't step another foot in there. Honestly the restaurant itself I give a one the only thing that even saved this place is our waiter was excellent. I don't usually enjoy Applebee's, but we were hungry and it was there. Ordered the fish and chips that was actually better then I expected. Now the bad, the beer lines are disgraceful. Ordered an Abby ale mind you it was only $7 when at a regular bar it's like $10, but the beer was disgusting. Lines had to be filthy couldn't drink it so asked for a Sam Adams and again disgusting. Decided to just drink tap water at this point. I have drank at some real dives I'm talking about hole in the wall gutter bars and never had a beer as disgusting as the Clark Applebee's! Honestly if the manager or any staff read these posts please seriously clean your lines your going to get someone really sick! i was there for roughly 15-20 minutes before the waiter came over to actually take our drink order. We ordered the two for $10 appetizers as well... we were charged for both appetizers ($10 A PIECE!!) AND THEY WEREN'T EVEN GOOD! My meal felt like it came out of a walk in freezer. i rarely come to Applebees and when i do, i am always disappointed in the entire experience! We went for a dinner, a heavy set manager stopped us at the door while leaving saying I can't carry out to go cup with seltzer water and lemon ( I paid for it if I want to take it to go this shouldn't be a problem should it?). I was not aware u are not able to carry seltzer out . Good info to have for future visits, or not. No wonder this place is dead every time we go there. With seltzer police on staff the Clark NJ Applebee's is now safe!! Congrats Meredith and team for your hard work. I'm surprised I didn't get tased for holding and trying to escape your establishment with a water cup. Geez!! As if harassing us at the table wasn't enough? You also had to harass us while trying to exit? Super awkward! The last time I went here the manager was a complete bitch and only accommodated the guys she was flirting with at the table instead of everyone at the bar. She told me to sit inside if I had a problem. Other people at the bar were also complaining but her friends were at the table, so they were accommodated before any of the other guests. read more

We went to Applebees a while back with a group and had a wonderful time sitting on the patio with our friends and our dog. The patio was a huge draw as it is really a nice size and well designed. However we went there again and discovered that they no longer allow dogs on the patio. Every other restaurant with outdoor seating in the area allows dogs. We were told they were fined. Not sure how truthful that is and if so why are the other places allowed to have them in there outdoor areas. read more

It is a shame how disappointing all 3 experiences I have been here were. Do not come here with a large group of people, (6 or more) they will mess your entire order up, and forget about you. There is so many waiters and managers and still every table always complained how long their beverages or food took. Also, they bring out your appetizer and meal at the same time which is annoying. Terrible staff. Sounded like there was an absolute brawl going on in the kitchen based on the yelling coming out of there. I was warned by a member of the local police dept that they've had some issues with credit card info being stolen out the place. If there was an option to give 0 stars I would do that. THIS PLACE SUCKS! I've been there 6 times and out of the 6 times service was horrendous. I'd rather go to Burger King. The staff was poorly trained or selected. The 6 different servers I've had were horrible. Incorrect food. Wait time for food was 45min+ & the place was dead. Drinks were even incorrect..... I once had a waiter I didn't see for 45 min! But he was serving other tables laughing and joking around & the manager covered for him. Another left other people's dirty plates at our table. And another was cursing at us. I wouldn't recommend this place if you are hungry. I love Applebee's but the Clark Commons Applebee's SUCKS!!!! DON'T GO THERE. Seriously couldn't be more disgusted with the bartenders they had inside today. I normally go there and Nicole and Claudia are there and are so amazing! Tonight though, one bartender Jessica and another who I don't know her name were absolutely horrible. Not pleasant at all. Also had some horrible remarks made to us I guess she was trying to be funny but was not at all. Just rude! As I have half a glass filled and my boyfriends glass empty she asks do you want another drink Hun, my boyfriend replies yes please. She looked at him and said I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to her, then comes back with our drinks and says I'm working for tips why would I call you Hun if your girlfriend is right next to you. Just flat out rude. I'm a bartender and would never say something like that to a customer! Also never asked if our food came out ok. I wings were horrible and we barely ate them. She's lucky I'm not an asshole and always leave 20% no matter what. This place has sadly been going downhill since it opened. My friend and I got our appetizers which were all cold and the sauce on one had even set to the point it had a film on it (this doesn't happen that quickly...). It was pretty gross. We didn't get plates or silverware and had to wait to eat half of it until our server came back around a bit later and we ask for utensils.. Then our main dishes came out and while mine was made super skimpy (less chicken and tomato than normal) my friend's was just a disaster. The citrus chicken was dry as a bone and had a terrible sour aftertaste that was nowhere near lime or lemon. When we complained and asked for a different dish they complied and then put the extra dish on the bill... We had to wait and get that fixed before we could pay. When the manager came over both times (once to fix the chicken and the second for the bill) he never said anything other than handing us the items. He didn't care what was wrong, you could tell at this point they were over their jobs that night. Sad since I live in the neighborhood, but I won't be going back anytime soon. read more

Went a few times & was happy to have a new place to go to in the area for late night. However our fourth visit back was absolutely horrible! We went in around 4:30 the bar was relatively empty and ordered food. In the time we sat there more people came in & ordered food. And everyone other than us got their food within a reasonable amount of time. We had to repeat ourselves to order another drink, we had to ask for them to check on our order and not once did a manager approach us or apologize for the inconvenience. The bartender went in twice to check on the food & FINALLY after 45 minutes we got our food. And no compensation for the inconvenience! If you choose to go to Applebee's, avoid this one. We Went there when they had first opened last year and had a very bad experience. we sat outside in the beautiful outdoor patio. I was pregnant at the time and was suddenly surrounded by a cloud of smoke in every direction. I politely asked our server If this smoking was permitted in the eating areas and she very rudely replied, Yes and we cannot stop them from smoking and to go seat myself at any available table or booth in the indoor serving area if I wanted and that a server would come to me. Just the lack of courtesy resignated as such a horrible reply. I quietly moved inside the restaurant and sat down, there comes a server after ten minutes not to check on us and ask if everything is ok or if we needed anything, but to tell me who told me it was okay for me to sit myself there?? I nearly got up and walked out. I paid and left $0 tip. Just an FYI, this area tends to have people that are a bit standoffish and think they are the highest society in the world. I am traveling from out of town and stopped in for takeout. It took over 10 minutes for the "takeout girl" to come take my order. She offered no greeting or apology for the delay. After placing my order, it took about 25 minutes to get my food. When my food came out, so did the woman waiting next to me (her order), and her order was placed around 10 mins after me. By the way, I ordered 2 appetizers, that's all. I paid with my debit card and then checked my order. It was missing the chips for the dip. She brought back my debit card and I then had to wait longer for her to get my chips. At this point, I had been there for 45 mins. I could have sat at a table and been done faster. Throughout the whole experience, no one apologized for any delay. It was very disappointing to have to wait so long. I had a 3 min drive back to my hotel and most of my order was barely warm. Last night (a Thursday) my boyfriend and I went to this location around 11:50pm. When we walked in we waited for someone to notice us and after quite awhile a hotess appeared and asked us to follow her. She didn't ask us whether or not we'd like to go to the bar. As she walked us to our horribly placed table, we heard a server yell out "omg no quit playing, I know you're not seating my section". Rude. So instantly we were given the feeling of not being welcomed. Then she sat us at the table all the way in the back of the restaurant directly near the entrance to the kitchen. The restaurant had a few tables and all of the other guests were sat in the bar dining area but we were he rejects and had to sit in the worst location. We noticed two men walked in and waited to be sat but the hostess never came up to them and eventually they just left. Then our server showed us no interest. He came to our table a total of 4 times, to get our drink order, give us our drinks, take our food order and then drop off the bill. From the moment we walked in the door we were unwanted. The entire dining experience was awful. We heard employees yelling and complaining from the kitchen screaming about how they wanted to go home and they didn't want to be there any longer. We heard servers cursing and joking around out by our table. They were rudly yelling to each other from across the restaurant. It was the worst experience I've ever had at an Applebee's. The food was terrible. I ordered a simple Cesar salad and it came out looking disheveled and most of the lettuce was brown. Normally I would have told all of this to the manger because they usually come around to check on the tables but I guess this particular manager didn't care enough to show his or her face. Although the bartenders were friendly they were extremely slow at serving drinks and our empty glasses sat in front of us the whole night, no one took them to wash them. . The bar was sloppy looking , needed to be wiped down. When we asked about late night happy hour we were given a very generic answer with no details. . A month ago I placed an order online for curbside pick up, the order was ready on time but when I got home the food was cold and missing an item.I paid in cash so I called them to see if I could possibly get an coupon emailed to cover the missing item. I was transferred back and forth to people who had no idea of what customer service is. Finally a guy picks up the phone says he's the manager and tells me to come back and pick it up. I told him my food was already cold and preferred not to, just email me coupon for another time. He asks for home address and says he will mail a coupon. I was very disappointed in Applebee's "All You Can Eat Riblets and chicken Fingers" promotion. My son who is 6'3" ordered the all you can eat riblets. For his initial serving the kitchen sent out three riblets. After waiting 15 minutes the kitchen sent out his second serving with just two riblets and fries. Since we waited so long for the second serving, our waitress, Nevada, put in the third order after she brought out the second order. However, we still waited 15-20 minutes before the kitchen brought out the third order. My husband and I, and our 4 and 5 year old grandchildren finished our meal 30 minutes earlier and we are sitting and waiting. Nevada was so sweet, she asked my son would he like her to bring out chicken tenders while he waited for the riblets. The third order of two riblets, a plate of fries, and a moist towelette was finally brought out by the kitchen staff. My son all you can eat riblets consisted of seven riblets and a 15-20 minute wait between refills. He wanted to order more but he did not want to wait. Now I know why the other patrons was not ordering the all you can eat. I told my son I will go to our local grocery store and buy a $10.00 box of riblets and he can then have all he can eat. If you can, get Nevada as your waitress, Dre is GREAT. read more

I have the worst service every. I ordered my food and drink at the same time right as i sat down. It took ten minutes to get my water. Never once was it filled up within the 50 minutes it took to get my food (not like the place was busy, there were only three tables and four employees working in the front). Once my food came the plate was just as hot if not hotter than my actual food, it must have been really for quit some time because they had to reheat the food. I had to ask my waiter for more water because he wasn't going to refill it on his own. I was also never asked how my food was, it was probably a good thing because i was pissed. You would think with more employees than there are tables you would have good customer service, think again, not with Applebee's. So I went to applebee's here and I was disappointed in the service. I mean applebee's food is applebee's food it's pretty much all the same. The service is what really makes you want to come back. When I first got there for the first time ever ... it was 12:30 the kitchen closes at 1 the bar closes at 2. There was a very nice gentleman who talked to us tried to sit us but the other staff mainly another male said this area is closed while he was lounging in the booth. Rachel took care of us after that we just wanted to order our food and go we ordered on the pad. She took our drink orders and then the food came... we asked for lettuce and she brought cabbage when I told her that it wasn't lettuce she had an attitude like gesture didn't say anything and left. Apparently the lettuce that they had was mixed with cabbage they didn't have shredded lettuce. I never heard of lettuce mixed with cabbage plus she just gave me cabbage... basically I'm not going back and I mean I was a waitress I worked for a restaurant and hospitality... and I wasnt allowed to act like that in either place.... read more

Been there about 5-6 times with the family and always had great service. The waitresses are so nice and were very attentive to our needs. The food was tasty and cooked as ordered. We ate outside a couple of times too and it's a great atmosphere. Maybe the people who are complaining went there when it first opened and they were working out the kinks, but we haven't had anything but good experiences there. We went for my cousins' birthday. The food came out in a timely manner, but the service was very poor. One entree came out well before the appetizers, then another came out completely wrong. Our server (and the rest of the staff, for that matter) was attending to our neighboring tables far more than ours, and when we made it known, had a very disconcerting attitude. We also needed to ask for refills. After we finished, we asked for wipes...which, as expected, never arrived. Finally we asked for the birthday song, to which, 20 minutes later, he said "sorry, everybody's too busy"; to make matters worse, a trip to the bathroom revealed that our server was merely talking to the other servers- not serious business talk, laughing, funny, social conversation. Not happy!! Came in with my family and was informed if their "sangria Wednesday". Great! Except, we ordered the blackberry sangria... A few minutes later, our waiter comes back to say they don't have it. Ok, now I order a white peach sangria, my sister orders a red sangria and our mom gets a strawberry daiquiri. Another few minutes later... "Sorry, we can't make red sangria", so we settle for the berry sangria. At this time our appetizer comes out. (Still no drinks yet). While eating the appetizer we watch as an employee that is off duty, but sitting at a table behind us with other off duty employees, applies deodorant to her armpits. NASTY!!!!!! Literally, 5 minutes after we got the appetizers, our dinner comes out. What a waste of appetizers! By the way, at this point, only the 2 sangria's made it to the table (after we watched the bartenders try to figure out how to make it from a book). A few minutes into dinner the daiquiri finally made it out. The only positive I can think of was our waiter. He was very apologetic. Other than that, don't think we will ever go back!! read more
