Mac and cheese with honey chicken strips

Applebee is my favourite chill place for comfort food. They give good portion sizes and the staff were friendly. The meal was fantastic and very tastes with lots of flavour.

Portobello veggie burger with a side of four cheese mac and cheese

I was first introduced to Applebee's when I lived in Winnipeg. It was a ten-minute drive from where I lived. Since I returned to Markham, the closest Applebee's is in Ajax. I choose to backroad getting there, which takes me half an hour. I have been to this location twice. The first time was probably a good decade ago. I couldn't tell you how I felt about my food experience then, but I do remember the person that I was with! Last weekend, my dear friend and I met to exchange Christmas presents early and to shop at the box stores. After we were done, I suggested Applebee's for dinner. She was game. She is vegan. We sat in my car and I looked up the menu. There was a portobello mushroom burger. Sold! I love mushrooms, especially portobello. This burger isn't a full portobello as the patty. Rather, it's a veggie burger topped with slices of portobello. It was still fabulous. You can substitute any burger for a veggie burger. My friend did that with the barbeque burger. She had sweet potato fries as her side. I chose mac and cheese as my side. The veggie burger was flavourful and moist. Thank goodness it didn't taste like cardboard! My friend was happy with her burger and sweet potato fries. I enjoyed my mac and cheese. It was the perfect size and portion. We were both stuffed that we had to say no to dessert. I couldn't even try to shovel down the brownie bite. My favourite is the maple nut blondie with pecans and vanilla ice cream. I am drooling just thinking about how yummy this dessert is on a hot, sizzling plate. It was snowing heavily that evening, so we had an enjoyable, quiet time chatting as we ate. Unfortunately, some jerk decided to smoke in the women's washroom, so it smelled like an ashtray when I stopped by. I recommend coming to this restaurant. The food is delicious and staff are incredibly nice. Although this next detail has nothing to do with the restaurant, a customer came over to my car as I was clearing the snow off my car with my brush. He asked if he could use it. I said that I would lend it to him once I was done with it. A minute later, I was done. He thanked me and went to his car to brush off the snow. He then came back and thanked me again. Just a public service that we live in Canada and we should always have a snow brush when it's Winter! (244)

I was here the other night with my family and we opted for the 2 for $25 deal noted in their menu. This offer comes with two main entrees and one appetizer, which I thought wasn't such a bad deal. For my main dish, I ordered the Double Crunch Shrimp and my husband ordered the Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger. My parents both ordered the Oriental Chicken Salad. The appetizers we selected were the Spinach and Artichoke Dip and my parents had the Onion Rings. Let's start with the appetizers: Although I was impressed with the size of the Spinach and Artichoke Dip appetizer, I was not impressed with the flavour! It was quite bland and had more cheese than spinach... and I don't think the artichoke even made an appearance! I'm also not quite sure why it came with a small dish of salsa on the side... seemed like an odd combination. The onion rings, although large and crispy didn't seem to compare in value to the dip (see pictures attached)... but I must say, they did restore my faith after the John Anderson's onion ring debacle (see previous review). On to the mains: The Double Crunch Shrimp consisted of 12 breaded shrimp, cocktail sauce, fries and coleslaw. I'm not sure what justified the name of 'Double Crunch' though as there wasn't really much crunch to them at all. The fries were so bland that they weren't even worth eating. I think the only saving grace for this dish was the cocktail sauce (to give some flavour to the shrimp) and the coleslaw. The Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburger came with all the usual condiments and I must say, the bacon was cooked perfectly. Sadly to say, even though the burger was flavourful, it was really dry... and we won't even get back into talking about the fries. The saving grace for this dish was the salsa that came with the Spinach and Artichoke Dip... perhaps this is what added the flavour to the burger...? On to the Oriental Chicken Salad. This dish left a lot to be desired. The chicken had far too much breading and was extremely dry. The lettuce wasn't even a nice mix of greens, it was just romaine. Romaine! That's it! Are you trying to tell me that there are no other types of lettuce in the orient? C'mon! There was so much more they could have done to this dish... I'm not even sure why it was called 'oriental'. The saving grace for this dish was the dressing. It had a really nice consistency and was quite sweet. I can't say that I'll be back. Applebee's used to have good quality food for a good price. I feel that the quality of the food has gone down in direct relationship to the rise in prices. There are far better restaurants out there for me to spend my money at. Last, but not least... the saving grace for the whole evening was the service. Our waitress was pleasant and cheerful. She even presented my Dad with a free dessert for his birthday. Happy Birthday Dad... sorry we picked such a shoddy restaurant.

Wonton chicken tacos

I was in the area with family today looking for lunch. Since I wasnt familiar qith the area I used Yelp and the first place I saw was Applebees. There was an offer to check in and receive a free app (up to $12.50) with the purchase of an entreé, and another offer for mentioning yelp to get 15% off total bill. What a sweet deal!! For the free app we got the wonton taco with chicken (4/5). We ordered fish tacos (3/5) with a side of 4 cheese macaroni & bacon (4/5) and another entreé with mashed potatoes, sirloin steak, topped with gravy and onion rings (3.5/5). The mac & cheese was pretty good. We ordered another side of it! The total bill came out to $40 after the 2 promos. Thank you Yelp!!!

Party of almost 25 people On my side some orders were Fish tacos-he loved them and the portion is quite large House salad w chicken- looked amazing super colourful w balsamic dressing cant go wrong 3 cheese tortellini add shrimp- shrimp was overly seasoned and salty the tortellini was also very salty couldnt eat much Bourbon steak w roasted potatoes- loved his steak was 9oz ...cooked perfectly Mozerella sticks and fried pickles also very tasty the aioli dip w the pickles was pretty awesome They also allowed us to bring our own bday cake was i was grateful for. Alcoholic drinks were portioned very well. I had a virgin strawberry daiquiri quite sweet but enjoyed it. Id definitely return not much to complain about. Customer service was also great we only had one waiter and she handled everything quite well and efficiently. Usually they give two for a large group but she did it on her own so shout out to her!! Should hve asked her name.

Fish and chips are good but the ribs were a bit poor. Everything is a tad too expensive for a chain restaurant. Staff are decent though.

Despite how busy it was, staff came to check on us frequently. It was noisy so just a warning, if you want a quiet place to watch the game & have a drink without loud patrons, this is not the place for you lol. I cannot say enough, how delicious the food is.

Came here last month to meet with a friend who I have known for almost 20 years. We moved to…read moreOshawa a couple of years ago and haven't really explored around. I picked this place based on what saw on the menu Atmosphere: B In general, a standard sports bar and pub. Apparently there was an entire hockey team that had a celebration, so people were saying it was a longer lineup than usual. I like the giant TV in the middle of the main bar area. Noise level was ok for a sports bar to be. The area where we sat was a bit on the darker side, but still bright enough light to enjoy our meal Service: A+ We didn't wait to long for our table, maybe 20 minutes. After a few minutes of browsing, we were greeted by our server. I feel really crappy for saying this, but I forgot her name. About midway in our meal, I asked her how often do people say that she looks like Elizabeth Olsen? And she said at least once a day. When I informed our server about what I wanted to order, she was very honest and said that based on feedback, the dish did not receive great feedback. I did get reassurance though that if I was not satisfied with my order, then she would take the proper steps needed to enjoy my meal. I initially ordered my meal with onion rings, but it did come with fries. I did inform our service and after reconfirming the order, she did bring an extra side of onion rings as was my order. The error was acknowledged and addressed properly. Overall, she was very informative and was always keeping us up to date with the progress of our meal, although it did feel like to took a bit longer than I feel it should have. Food: A When I was looking for places, I browsed various venues. The dish that caught my eye for this place was the soft shell crab burger. The pic on the menu looked really impressive to me. There was a giant crab that could barely fit into the burger bun. That's what pushed me to try this place. When I received the burger, it was definitely not like in the picture. The arms and legs that were sticking out in the picture were not there, and it looked like a small shell was all that was included in the bread with some sauce. I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't matching, I chose to ignore that view and still take a bite. In spite of not getting the appearance on the menu, I was very surprised by the taste. I could easily taste the crab shell with the chipotle sauce and it was delicious. I really did savor bite. Of course it could always be bigger, but the taste was so good I definitely was pleased with my choice. I provided my feedback to our server as well. My friend ordered a pulled pork sandwich and it looked pretty good. I was able to get a small bite, and although it was good, it wasn't anything that really stood out in my mind. Sides were definitely tasty. I liked the onion rings more than the fries. Didn't really feel like splurging on a beverage, kept it simple with a water Value: B In this time of rampant inflation, going out really is a luxury now. I have never been to this pub before, so I can't really compare it to previous visits to see if the serving size has changed. In general, I think that it's not uncommon to go to a sit down service and spend upwards of 30-40$ per person. My total bill came just under 20$ with tax and tip. It did help a bit with the extra side, but for the overall taste of my burger, I felt it was a fair price. As previously mentioned, of the burger was a bit bigger, that would have been better Overall: A- This establishment provided an excellent experience for a first visit. We went during prime time for eating out on a Friday evening, so its not really surprised for waiting for seating. Our server was excellent, my food was delicious and the service was too notch. Overall, I would definitely consider coming back here for a quick bite or to catch the Raptors when they start winning again.

We got two burgers, fries and onion rings. All were really great. Burgers were classic with a soft bun, some veg and standard toppings - but everything was really fresh and the meat tasted great. Fries and onion rings were both fantastic. Ready to go for our order but still tasted fresh - we ate in the car and shared. The onion rings were particularly good. Nice breaded crunch and that medium cooked onion on the inside - not soggy or raw. Would definitely return if I'm near there again - they are in my bookmarks!

We decided to get burgers on a whim and to try a local restaurant. Upon reviewing Skip, found McCoy…read moreBurger Co. and decided to give it a shot. I'm not sure if the app is different than ordering in store but the descriptions on the website don't quite match the customizations. The website listed the double McCoy would to include two 4.5 oz. patties and two slices of real Canadian Cheddar Cheese however the cheese was extra charge on the app. Food 3/5 We ordered the Double McCoy burger combo with poutine and chocolate milkshake in addition to McCoy burger. The burgers were okay but nothing exceptional and at the time writing don't really recall much of it. The poutine was loaded with gravy which would normally be a great thing however all the fries were soggy by the time we got home so we'll never know if they were crispy to begin with. The gravy itself lacked flavour and was more or less a sauce with a hint of saltiness. The milkshake was perhaps the only thing that stood out in the this meal. It was rich, creamy, chocolatey and a good way to end the meal. I can't quite comment on the service as we picked up the order and ordered through an app. The order was ready to go by the time we went to pick it up so I didn't have much interaction with the staff either. They were quick to complete my order and were nice with the limited time I was in the store. Overall I would like to come back to the restaurant when dine in resumes to try the other menu items in the store. I would like to try the food when it's hot and hopefully be able to get a better judgement of what the food is really like.
