This was our first time checking out this new location that is close to our neighborhood. Apollo has been an institution in Richmond and Berea for years, but this location literally just opened last week. They are going for the brewhouse concept with about 20 different beers on tap, most of which are local. My wife doesn't drink beer, and since I had to work later, we opted for soda. It's important to note that they have Ale-8 on tap, which for me is HUGE. The other thing that is huge is the size of their cups. So by the drinks alone, they are off to a great start. We ordered the garlic cheesy bread, which was amazing. We definitely recommend. The pizzas all have interesting names. My wife ordered the Holy Pepperoni Batman, which she said was good, but the only thing she thought was "wrong" was that it may have been a bit overcooked. It was good though. I got the Carnivore, which has all of the meats. It was good. The staff was very attentive too. In the end, we agreed that Apollo is a solid and welcome addition to this side of town, and definitely worth many return trips. read more

Ordered Pinot Grigio and an IPA. 6:03pm - waters arrive 6:08pm - IPA arrives 6:12pm - We started by ordering an appetizer of tater tots with cheese. Still no Pinot Grigio. 6:14pm - no Pinot Grigio in stock. Ordered a Chardonnay. Ordered a buffalo chicken pizza and a 9 inch pizza. 6:24pm - asked about the status of the Chardonnay, server said it would be "right out." 6:30pm - no Chardonnay in stock. Well damn. 6:45pm - waiting on that 'Za 7:00pm - still waiting 7:04pm - 9 inch comes out, it's undercooked and raw in the middle. 7:07pm - we will take the large pizza to go please along with our checks. Server stated it would be put in 2 minutes. 7:10pm - checks come with no large pizza 7:14pm - large pizza comes out, get home 10 minutes later and the middle is raw and undercooked. 7:26pm - preheating the oven at home to 400 degrees to finish cooking the pizza Pizza had great flavor, just not cooked well or efficient service. read more

What a great local spot for those of us who live or travel to this side of lexington! Both times we have been here we have ordered sandwiches and let me say they are fantastic! They are always served piping hot piled high with toppings. In addition we get the fries which are similar to rallys. If you order them I suggest getting the bacon, cheese, and ranch. I had great expectations after eating in the Richmond location a few years back. Today I started with craving some Mac-n-cheese and after I got it I was ready to devour it but it was still frozen in the middle after looking so delicious. Our waiter was very apologetic about the frozen mac and recommended the Zita with meatballs which is what I got replaced (comped by the restaurant) The presentation of it looked awesome but the taste was just bland. My wife and I had ordered a 14in pizza with half and half after ordering "the starters" I got the Cities of the Plain and she got the Rachel I believe and it was amazing. I believe if you're coming to Apollo's to eat, stick with the pizza which they seem to consistently knock out of the park. read more

Good pizza with quick service. Stopped by this place for a quick lunch break. I was craving some pizza so it did fulfill my craving. Ordered the lunch special with a sausage pizza. Also got another pizza just to try and have leftovers for lunch. Waitress recommended the "It's Always Sunny" which is essentially a white sauce Philly cheese steak pizza. I got the second pizza thin crust too just to try it out. Overall, the pizzas were pretty good with good flavor. There was a fair amount of toppings and the sauces of both pizzas were tasty. I'm not a huge crust fan to begin with so I would've enjoyed less crust, but that's just me being picky. I could've honestly ate both pizzas as they seemed fairly small, but resisted the temptation and left half of each for dinner, which both reheated very well. I would say it is a little pricey for regular pizzas based on size, but I think the lunch special is a pretty good deal (comes with a drink!). read more

I've been wanting to try this place since it opened but didn't get around to it until yesterday. We ended up sitting on their patio, which could accommodate quite a few people while still adhering to social distancing. The person working that area was very friendly and welcoming. After looking over the menu, I chose a 9" Green Hippie pizza with black olives instead of green olives. My friend ordered bone-in wings and tater tots. Everything came out in disposable to-go containers which is understandable with everything going on. The pizza was pretty tasty! Good combination of flavors and I love that slightly chewy crust. I wish I would've asked for some garlic butter to dip in. They mistakenly sent boneless wings out for my friend, and once they realized the mistake, had the kitchen make the bone-in that initially ordered. Opened the box to the tater tots and found a generous heap of tater tots inside, so they're not skimping on portions. The taste I had of the wings was your standard buffalo sauce. So overall, everything was good as far as food and service. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because I save that for something that really blows me away and keeps me up at night trying to figure out when I can have it again. Okay, so first of all, I'm so happy this location is finally open! We're huge fans of Apollo pizza in Richmond and so happy that we don't have to drive far to eat this delicious food now that it's in Lexington. We were so excited that we visited on the first full day that they were open. So, there are understandably a few kinks to work out. But, the space is great. I love the giant John Prine mural outside. The inside is open and modern, but it is a little smaller than I was expecting. I did see a sign for a patio, though, so I look forward to checking that space out soon. The food is for the most part the same great food that the Richmond locations have, though there were some learning curves. The waiter struggled with knowing some of the beers and he told us that the kitchen was still learning some of the recipes. But, I have complete faith that it won't take them long to get it perfect. Very Good Casual Pizza / Beer Restaurant. Nice selection of fancy hipster beers as well as bottles of more mundane beers for those of us who don't wear skinny jeans. The pizza original crust is not thick and it is very much not soggy - a very good crust with an extensive choice of cheeses and toppings as well as many specialty pizzas. The pizza is not over sauced so I did not find myself wanting to order "light sauce" as you do some places who dump on the sauce. Besides their excellent pizza, Apollo offers salads and pasta and most notablly Poutine (or Poutot) which is a Canadian specialty of fresh cut french fries with gravy and in this case a bit of cheese too. The Poutot is Poutine but using Tetertots instead of fresh cut fries. Frendly and propmpt service. We will be back. read more

Lexington's new Apollo Pizza on Leestown Road does not disappoint, in fact, I was really impressed with the whole experience! Having also eaten at the Berea location once I definitely recognized a commonality between the design aesthetics of both spaces, minus the obvious nod to Lexington's first airport - everyone caught that, right?! New though the place was a little over half full, everything still came out very quickly and piping hot. The 'Bumps & Beer Cheese' were delicious and had just enough bite not to scare off someone who doesn't like spice. My 'Holy Pepperoni, Batman' pizza was delicious and my boyfriend went for 'The Charles,' a 10-topping DIY pie. They also have tons of seating, a decent selection of craft/local beer, and a future patio to die for! I'm excited to return and try something from the front (non-pizza) side of the menu. The one complaint or 'opportunity for improvement' that I would share is the lack of wine options. Right now you can only purchase by the glass and there is only one red option...at a pizza place! Our family loves this place. I always loved the original store in Richmond as well but even my kids would rather eat here than at the Golden Arches. My wife and I were regulars at the Apollo's in Richmond and were super excited to try the newest location in Lexington! It was awesome and fully met all of our expectations. We have been two times since the opening 2 weeks ago and have tried the Chicken Bacon Ranch, Bacon Cheeseburger, and Carnivore pizzas and all were fantastic and cooked perfectly! We also tried the crispy fries with bacon and ranch, who knew a pizza place could make awesome fries? Also, the cheesy garlic sticks are probably the best thing on the menu! Thin crust pizza was very good - on par or better than any of the "famous" Lexington pizza. The cheese bread was the best cheese bread I've ever had - tons of cheese, almost melts in your mouth. The fried banana peppers were crispy and stringy - very good little finger food to stuff in your mouth between slices. It was a very good meal - will be back. read more

I work nearby this location and my coworkers and I frequently choose this for our Saturday afternoon lunch. If you're like me and enjoy a reeeeal cheesy pizza, this is the right spot for you. Pulling a slice from one of their pies while it's piping hot is grade A food porn- i have at times had to WALK AWAY from the pizza in order for the melty ribbon of cheese to break! I'll also note that they don't skimp on the other toppings. However, with this decadence comes a cost- it can be a bit... gastrointestinally distressful. But that's the dice you roll anytime you eat pizza, so consider yourself warned. Definitely be ready to DEVOUR when you order here! read more

We had ordered Apollo Pizza for delivery a few months ago and were impressed, so when we were craving pizza and a patio, we decided to try it again. Four of us found a table in the shade right away. We were starving, so we ordered bread sticks, cheese fries and a wagon wheel pizza. My partner ordered a frozen drink but the machine was down, so they were given a sweet tea for free (super nice!). We got our drinks quickly and our food quickly followed. A free frozen drink was also delivered to my partner when the machine was working again! The food was delicious and we had enough leftovers for at least one more meal. Get the garlic bread sticks, they are fantastic! For $44, we had a ton of food and were stuffed and happy on the drive home. read more

We live in Richmond and love the Apollos Pizza that is downtown. Therefore, we were excited to try the one in Lexington yesterday. I hate to say, it will be our last visit. I ordered my favorite, a farmer's pizza and a carnivore . First, they didn't slice any of the pizzas or cheese sticks very well at all. However, the worst was the Farmers pizza. The onions, peppers, and tomatoes were raw. They had been warmed slightly but obviously were not cooked. This was definitely not worth the $40+ that we spent.
