International adoption can be overwhelming. I felt good when I found New Hope for Children. What…read morehas happened in the years since has been frustrating and heart breaking to downright criminal. We tried to adopt my niece and nephew. We were told a process and followed it. After years we learned there was no process. We were handed off to another agency in that country and the process kept changing. They were supposedly trying to get a death certificate for the children's mother. After a year we went to that country's embassy and the ambassador worked on our case. The agency said there was no such request and then came back and said that adoption is not possible. Communication was scarce except when money was needed. They took our money and we got absolutely nothing in return. Do not do this to yourselves. Family is precious and they have damaged ours.

Last time, someone stuck a NASCAR sticker on a tortoise's back. I didn't see who did this - a worker or a fan. A very upset porcupine was penned in a very small area. Today, I saw a komodo dragon and a hedgehog who are part of their "interactive collection". The worker said it was okay to pet either but that the hedgehog was "in a bad mood today". The poor little guy was jumping and was making a sound that resembled a hiss. Behind them, an African serval cat was pacing in a very small cage - much like the poor porcupine last time. Please do not support this business.

The volunteers are as if it were what they were ment to be doing; they are soo busy and yet will 'stop' to answer you friendly as well as helpful. There really isn't a category for an artists colony, but that's what the Upper Mill building is…read more There are over 100 artists sharing a big mill building in little Rollingsford and twice a year, about half of them participate in an open house. This review is based on attending the open house as a visitor. The open house was fun. There's a ton of things to see and it didn't get boring. My favorite studio belongs to David Random but there were five floors of artists of all types. Some of them are amazing and some I didn't get at all, but that's art. I didn't feel quite the "I want to quit my job and become an artist" vibe that I got at the similar Button Factory mill building in Portsmouth but it was still good. And the building has a more "single purpose" feel than the Washington St. Mills in Dover, though I don't know if that matters. The open house is held twice a year, on the weekends before Mother's Day and Thanksgiving, and it's worth visiting. The only catch is the parking. There's enough for the artists, but not enough for all of the people that show up for the open house so be patient.
