And I had just settled on the french provincial theme for my daughter's baptism. Ali met with me within a few days. We talked about my event and what I envisioned. It seemed in no time at all, she understood perfectly what I was looking for. We quickly started looking at pictures of what I liked. Ali started describing to me the pieces that she had that would work for my event. I was very excited. The only catch was that Ali was due to leave for a 3 week vacation the day after we met. How was I to make the various decisions that were needed? That's why I needed Ali in the first place. Well, Ali reassured me that she would be in touch with me while she was away and we would continue to work together to get done what was needed. Though, I may have to do some legwork in her absence. Ali provided me with contacts for event rentals, photographer and baker. I even sent her pictures of the event spaces I was considering and got her feedback as to which would work with my theme, her experience working with the particular vendor, etc. Upon her return and with one week until my daughter's event, Ali reached out to me and we decided on flowers. And when I say we, it was really Ali. I showed her pictures that I liked. She showed me a picture of an idea. I green-lighted. And she took it from there. She also worked directly with the site events manager to coordinate set up. It really was so easy to work with Ali. I trusted her ability to carry out my vision and her professionalism. With guests coming into town and working and keeping up with a 2 year old and 3 month old, I had enough on my plate. I'm so glad my trust and confidence were rewarded by an absolutely beautiful and spot-on realization of my vision. Recommendations: Cake - Ali recommended Adrian of Kennedy's Kakes to me (https://www.kkakes.com). I cannot say it loud enough...HANDS DOWN THE BEST CAKE I HAVE EVER HAD. And the most delicious and beautiful desserts. This was better that my wedding cake. My guests all ooo'ed and ahh'ed over them all. I had the joy of taking all of the leftovers home with me and enjoying them for the few days after the baptism. The amazing thing is that I never tasted Adrian's cakes before ordering with her. Sarah was so wonderful to work with. She contacted me in advance and as for the style of pictures that I wanted for the day. She asked for pictures of the key family members and their names. She was prepared with all of this the day of. She captured what I wanted and make it better. And she did so while expecting in just a few weeks and on one of the hottest days of the summer yet. I wanted to be transported to the french countryside on a day a special event is celebrated. And that is what Ali did for me and my guests. I am so grateful. This occasion will never be repeated. I'm afraid I don't take classes here (well, not yet anyways), but I have been to a couple of the…read more"haflas" here, and I plan to keep coming! It's about this I'm writing this review. Every third Saturday of the month, Habeeba hosts a hafla (dance party). Doors typically open around 7:30, but the show doesn't start until at least 8:00, and often later. How late it runs depends on the number of dancers, but 10:30~11:00 is typical, and it could be later. Admission is $10 at the door with all ages welcome. Indeed, there are often a bunch of little kids running around (and sometimes on to the dance floor...). The atmosphere is fun, positive, and upbeat, and dancers of all levels are welcome. I myself only started dancing in June so I haven't performed yet, but I think I might soon. Anyways, the typical hafla consists of various local (and visiting) performers doing a routine either solo or in groups. Most of the dancers are from Habeeba's school, but anyone is welcome. You don't need to be a professional or even have a fancy costume - sometimes performers dance to random songs just to show off some special technique, and you see everything from elaborate galabeya to flared dance pants with a tied top and a flashy hip scarf. Many of the dancers do perform professionally at local restaurants and events, so the quality of the performance is always pretty high. You can also learn a lot from watching the performers... and interacting with them. Throughout the evening, the dancers will take a break and there will be "free dancing". Basically, anyone who wants can come out on the dance floor to practice their moves, get advice from fellow dancers, and use the wide floor and mirrors to do a little perfecting of their moves. There are also group dances. This might be an actual tribal dance, a circle dance, or even a line dance. Anyone can join in, whether they take lessons of any sort or not, and it's a lot of fun. There is also "free" food in the kitchen area, including a lot of different wines, sodas, and snack foods. Some times there are homemade cupcakes or treats too. Habeeba also holds workshops and special events, often right before or in tandem with the hafla; watch the website, I guess, for information. Overall, it's a great way to spend a Saturday night, and for $10, a very good value given the show and snacks.

Pro: + Lisa agreed to meet up with us at the venue to review the space and plan out the execution which was very helpful. Not sure if this is standard but I consider this a pro. She seemed very friendly when we met her. + Lisa was able to bring her own ladder with short notice for setting up. + Lisa did exactly what we asked for at the time of hiring her, there were no surprises. Cons: - Value: We paid $1,300 to have 5 lines of string lights put up, a white background, and our own Chinese lanterns and garland strung up and torn down. We were told that assembling the lanterns would take too much time for her so we agreed to assemble and attach strings and hooks ourselves. It felt like we brought a lot of our own stuff and were doing whatever we needed to do to make the job easier for her. We just didn't get the service I would have expected for the cost. I really needed a vendor that would do things to make it easier for US. Also, when I called her to initially learn about her services, she said she could not do the work unless she had a full hour to set up before the caterer came. The room is 73 feet long and I thought that they could work around each other but she insisted that it would not work for her which put additional financial burden on us to extend time at the venue. - Communication: Lisa was very short in her emails which made me very uneasy about having selected to work with her. It came across as if she was bothered or too busy. Obviously her demeanor did not impact the final product but she didn't provide the client experience I would have benefited from as a nervous bride. Another instance of this was when we asked for a white fabric background to use as or backdrop for the ceremony. The concept is self explanatory but I was a nervous after only having a high level conversation about it and leaving the execution up to her. Wasn't sure what we were going to get draping style wise. I emailed her to make sure it at least would not be tied back and I didn't get a response. At that point My sentiment was that I would just accept whatever she was going to bring us, I couldn't spend my time following up on every detail with each vendor. Thankfully it just showed up at the event like I had asked. Nothing necessarily went WRONG, I can't say I wouldn't recommend her, but I would want to give someone a heads up about some things. All of these things can be improved upon and some brides may not ever have the same experience or may have felt differently if they had the same experience.

I have been to other events in the space that she decorated, and have never seen it look so amazing. I found her very easy to communicate with, either by email or by text. Very prompt in responding to my messages. She worked well with coordinating with the venue for installation, so that I didn't have to worry about a thing.
