To begging with - I'm a big fan of apes, and not a very big fan of zoos. I don't like how animals look miserable in their cages with poor treatment. But this place is not like that!
The monkeys run free and are very friendly, although you must not pet them. (A lot of people seem to ignore this rule and they have a risk of getting bitten). Please protect your kid by not letting them have reckless behavior. I also saw monkeys going inside of baby strollers so if that is a big concern for you I suggest you cover your baby up!
Other than that the monkeys don't attack you, and run next to you and might even jump on you and walk on your arms, etc. I suggest you keep calm and quiet if they do. And don't stare at them into their eyes, I don't want to scare anyone but it just seems logical!
I was a bit nervous going in there but the animals seemed very relaxed and at peace, they just walk next to you and I quickly relaxed.
The place is well maintained and there are toilets placed in various parts of the park and also places where you can stop, sit and eat something. In the entrance there is a restaurant where you can actually have dinner/lunch if you want, the rest of the places inside are only for snacks.
Parking is good, big spaces and is not a big walk from the entrance. They offer you to take a picture for free in the beginning, everyone seems to ignore that, but hey, free pic!
There are bigger apes, but they are inside, and you can't have contact with them so you don't have to worry about that.
My only complaint is that there were other animals there and although they were ok, I think it was a big waste to put pigs, goats and birds in habitats too, I really wanted to pay 20 euros (adult ticket) to only see the apes!
Other than that I had a great day, I think I spent about 3-4 hours there, and I was in a "rush". You should be prepared to spend the day there! Specially if you have kids!
Watch out for the weather, if it rains it gets pretty muddy. read more
