Terrible customer service. All foreign students from outside the EU are required to have health insurance cover from a German company. Unfortunately, AOK is one of those companies, and I was unlucky enough to choose their services. They were sending me important letters that were all in German. Naturally, not being a native speaker, I wanted to have things confirmed. I rang the customer service number that they provided, but I was brushed off rudely because I didn't speak good enough German. Being in the business of providing service for foreign people, this is ridiculous. Such primitive customer service.
I'm all for assimilating and learning the local language etc., but this is just very unwelcoming.
I guess the lesson is; don't choose AOK for student health insurance. read more
