I'd like to note I have tried reaching out twice to the Rhinelander location via the app and direct email. Nothing. Moving on to internet reviews to get a response.
Harassed by a man (employee?? not sure) Very uncomfortable experience. I can tell other people have complained about this same person on other reviews...
My friend and I are both Anytime Fitness members and were excited to check out the Rhinelander location. Unfortunately, this excitement was cut short, to the point that my friend and I were extremely uncomfortable our entire visit. This happened within the first 5 minutes of being there.
I happened to not have my key fob with me, but my friend did. After we parked the truck and before we got out, on a piece of paper I wrote down my name, my fob #, date, time and name of the member I walked in with. I planned on sliding this paper under the door of the office.
As we changed our shoes, we were approached by a man in a packer shirt and tan shorts. He approached us with an extremely offensive and accusatory attitude, to which he made a comment about there being one badge swiped and two people entering. I would have to assume he thought we were breaking the rules and trying to sneak in an extra person. At this point, I still wasn't sure if he was a gym member working out or an employee who just wasn't wearing Anytime Fitness attire. I tried to explain that I didn't have my badge with me and I handed him the paper I filled out with my membership info. He asked us if we had ever been to this location before and sternly says "well we have rules here."
Continuing his aggressive tone of voice, he talked at us as if we were already in the wrong, not willing to follow the rules. We are willing to follow rules and we did. We didn't appreciate being lectured to, as if we had already done something wrong.
He also told us we have to sign a guest book. We asked about having to sign it because it seemed odd that even though we are both Anytime members, we had to sign a guest log. Willing to sign it, but not understanding the concept, we explained that we were both Anytime members, wondering if we truly had to sign it. Almost cutting us off, he shortly replied "I KNOW HOW IT WORKS" as he walked away from us. It's like he was speaking to us as if we were trying to fight him. It was no problem to sign it, we were simply confused as to why existing members of a club have to sign a guest book. Does every member have to sign the guest book, every single time? Or just your first visit? It would have been helpful to understand the intent behind the guest book.
The rest of our visit was extremely uncomfortable. My friend and I couldn't shake the way this man made us feel. We feared him coming over to scold us for something we didn't realize we were doing.
We are hesitant to return in the near future, for fear of having to deal with this man again.
Might I suggest your employees wear Anytime fitness attire so they are distinguishable as staff? This man's approach was brass and uncalled for. He should be assuming good intent of people, especially paying members of your establishment! His conversations with other people at the gym appeared friendly. Just wondering why we didn't get the same demeanor from him.
I would have to assume your intent isn't to scare paying members away. We were simply visiting your location. Today could've gone much, much better. read more
