We used the Anycabs website to book a return trip with a car service company called Golf Cars, which is based in Harrow. We made our reservation one week in advance of our trip. We booked a return trip from south London to north London on Christmas day. We were quoted a flat rate for the whole trip.
We were picked up on time by a driver in a car that reeked of cigarettes. Once we had completed one third of the journey, the driver told us that there had been a mistake and the price that we had been quoted was wrong and it would be 2-3 times more expensive than the quoted price. He did not provide a precise amount as he tried to haggle with us for the total fare price. Because we did not acquiesce to the bait and switch strategy, Golf Cars informed us that we would have to find our own way back home that evening as they were cancelling our return trip on a rain drenched Christmas day when no public transport is available.
Although Golf Cars acknowledged that it was their mistake, they were not willing to honour the agreed price for the total journey and were more than happy to leave us stranded. Funnily enough, that evening a driver showed up from Golf Cars, possibly expecting to extract more money from us, but we had already paid the full price of the ride to the first driver. Fortunately, we had made alternative arrangements with Addison Lee, which was more expensive than what we had envisioned but it was a reliable, pleasant ride in an odourless car.
Based on our experience, we would advise users of the Anycabs website to exercise caution as the quoted prices may not be authentic. read more
