Debra Ludwig and Silvia Asin have been so helpful and amazing over the last two years that I have…read morelived at Pacific Shores Apartments. I felt they cared about me as a tenant and they went above and beyond to help me anytime I needed anything. I also felt I could call them friends by the end of my stay at Pacific Shores. The management company does a great job here at Pacific Shores. I would also recommend this apartment complex for other reasons. The location is very nice for hiking and beach walks. There is a safeway close by and also the apartments are a nice size. I have really loved living at Pacific Shores. Also, if you read some of the other reviews with 1 or 2 stars of this apartment complex, the issues that are raised are more Santa Cruz wide issues vs. issues with this specific apartment complex. Homelessness and drug abuse are Santa Cruz wide issues. There is not a place in Santa Cruz where this is not an issue. But Santa Cruz is also one of the most desirable places to live in the world because of the wonderful nature hikes and views of the ocean. I loved this apartment complex and walking around near by it, by the ocean and I loved all the wildlife I got to know: Owls, Whales, Cows, Coyotes, Egrets, and other animals were part of my daily life there. But also, I could go get sushi and have enough of a city life to be happy also. I loved Humble Sea brewery for their food trucks and Todal Fitness gym, both in walking distance. This is a great place to live and make memories and the management is top notch and helpful.

Really enjoyed this place - stayed for a year and a half. Out of all the places I stayed in during…read moremy time in the Bay Area, this was definitely my favorite. Pros: -walking distance to downtown (as well as Whole Foods and Trader Joe's) -some remodeled apartments -nice landlord and leasing company -surprisingly quiet. There is some noise from Highway 1 and Ocean Street (you will hear motorcycles pretty much all the time... just use a noise machine when you sleep) -reasonable rent and super reasonable slight rent increases each year -tenants are somewhat diverse, some older folks and some students. -walls are reasonably thick. You can still hear your neighbors sometimes though. -proximity to Highway 17. My commute to Los Gatos was usually just under 30 minutes on most days. Cons: -thermostat from the 1960s which didn't quite work right -lots of homeless around this part of town. Most of the time I walked around outside or filled up at the corner gas station, I was hounded for money or had to listen to them arguing with themselves. When I moved in I tried to tolerate them, but by the time I moved out I was done living so close to so many homeless.. they also setup a HUGE tent camp which I could just barely see from my front door (behind the shopping center, across the river) -no direct access to the path by the river. You have to walk in the opposite direction, then back to the river through a side street. -someone nearby is growing huge amounts of marijuana, and the smell sometimes wafts in and is overwhelming. -SC humidity. You need to keep the ventilation going or mold will start to grow. I ended up buying a big dehumidifier soon after I moved in to remedy this (also to help while I was away on a two week vacation)

He is incredibly responsive, helpful and fixes things the same day that we bring something to his attention. He makes sure the property is well maintained and secure. My Wife and I rented a one bedroom apartment in Coronado Apartments for over three years and we…read morehave been very happy with our time there. We had plenty of space in both the living room and bedroom, lots of storage in the closets and built in storage cabinets, hot water was always quick and consistent (which is something you don't appreciate unless you have not had it), and it was cable/DSL ready. The building also has some nice amenities, like a dedicated parking space, lots of street parking for guests, a nice pool and BBQ area in the center of the building, and a inexpensive laundry room with 5 washers and 5 dryers. All the common areas are extremely well maintained by the property manager, Mike. He takes great care to make sure that the building feels inviting and safe and he was also very responsive to any issues we had in our unit. We would be lucky if all our future property managers were as attentive as Mike. The area is also very nice. There is a Safeway (with a Redbox) next door and a grocery outlet across the street, which makes grocery shopping very easy. It is also walking distance to a couple of great restaurants, like Charlie Hong Kong, the Crepe Place and Lillian's. My Wife and I enjoyed taking walks around the neighborhood almost every day, including walks down to the Harbor through the new Arana Gulch trail. While the apartment was great overall, there were a few small issues that keep me from giving it a perfect score. During the summer the apartment did get pretty warm, but most of the time that was fixed by opening a few windows to get a cross breeze. However, for us that meant opening our living room door onto Morrissey Blvd, which can be very loud (luckily not all the units face Morrissey). The kitchen was a little small and had limited counter space (a rolling stand from Ikea helped a lot), which made preparing dinner a challenge sometimes. We also didn't have a dishwasher, and had to take up some of the limited counter space with a drying rack. Overall, I would certainly recommend Coronado Apartments to anyone looking to find a nice place to live, with lots of amenities both in the building and in the neighborhood that is still affordable (for Santa Cruz).
