Instead, I started wandering through antique shops to see what classic cultural treasures I could find. The London House Antique Center offers a wide variety of quality antiques that are sourced by around 20 local dealers. The individual bays were easy to access and browse, only occasionally requiring a key to a particular cabinet. The guy holding down the main desk was very helpful and informative as I identified 3 particular treasures (a small fishing tackle box, a heavy brass weight standard, and a copper/brass Morocco gun powder flask). Of course I purchased them all, weather I needed them or not. They still look great back home and in my opinion all were a very good value. Another trip would have pealed back another layer of this antique store onion. If I come again, I need to take a closer look at the antique tools, and old English football programs.

The shop also has some vintage clothing, jewellery and general knick-knacks. The staff are lovely and don't mind people wandering around and having a good nose! No matter what your particular interest may be, I guarantee you will find something you'll love in this store at a really fair price - its a treasure chest packed to the ceiling rafters and beyond with all manner of vintage and antique bric-a-brac and the guvnor is a real character too a must-see if you are in Henley-on-Thames! If you go on a Wednesday it's rumoured that you will get to see their jewellery collection which I hear tell, is equally fantastic :o)

From bed linin to plates, from shampoo to hankies, from alarm clocks to pen knives.... it really does have everything. The kitchen dept. is pretty large doing some really unique cutlery, place mats and odds n bobs. At christmas time it also sells alot of christmas decorations and candy goods etc. The staff are helpful and their are quite a few tills which is good as it can be quite busy. The goods are cheaper than most other department stores and so for that reason alone are worth a browse!

It's better quality than Ikea, but with a price to match, and they have some unique lampstands and funky chairs that wouldn't have looked out of place in the 70s (in a good way). Okay, this was hidden on a quaint little street in Oxford away from the city center, which I liked…read more It is expensive, but it is a local yarn store with yarn made in England, so it was worth it. The girl working was very sweet, and they have free tap water if you have a refillable bottle, which was nice. It is not huge, but they have a solid variety of yarn to choose from.

Racks are overburdened to the point that if you manage to pull something out, you will not be able to shove that hanger back in. The shop pieces are mostly better for women than men, unless you're looking for nice blazer, jacket, or costume. There are quite a few nice menswear pieces in there. And if you have a specific style in mind, for example, a nice tweed, the the owner lady definitely has some kind of mental catalog of her stock. So if you feel overwhelmed, she can pick some stuff out for you if she has an idea of what you're looking for. Prices aren't the cheapest, but this place is a treasure trove of vintage one-offs if that means any added value to you. Also, no price tags. She prices items as you ask her. From what I gather, it depends on the age and value of the brand.
