I don't know what happened but now the place has deteriorated into a mediocre (at best!) meze place. I have many very fond memories of Pancar but I don't think I am ever going back. Previous review: Pancar is a very cute restaurant with great mezes and very friendly service. I went there with my partner and a friend, and everyone was pleased with the quality of the food and the service. We had four cold mezes and all of them were great. We then had two hot appetizers that our waiter recommended. The shrimp dish was very tasty and the liver dish was phenomenal!! As a dessert, we shared their beet dessert with thick cream. I liked it but it wasn't exactly mind-blowing. I think I'll try the other dessert options next time I am back. Highly recommended!!

Lamb liver skewers kept arriving to excess, and the waiter said he held a few back. If you like liver you would like it. Plus, there was a Yelp review in English letting us know this place was a good choice. Endless tasty salads of fresh tomatoes, and grilled onions were placed on our table by a friendly waiter before the nicely grilled lamb and chicken kebabs arrived, along with french fries. The location was great for local people watching. The only downside is the lack of beer or wine available, but they pointed us to Pub Corn just a few blocks up the street.

From several different mezeler to mangal -- make sure you have a charcoal grill master among your guests -- to the kabak ve kaymak to the raki and salgam. For the (relatively / moderately expensive) price each guest and his / her appetite will be SATIATED. My friends serenaded the ladies / foreigners at the table -- but all of us clapped, snapped and THOROUGHLY enjoyed ourselves. We ordered lentil soup, 7-8 dishes plus quince dessert with clotted cream. All were very, very tasty. The menu had eggplant salad but it was not available so they replaced with parsnip salad. Highly recommend to small groups, families and who are missing their mom's food at home.
