The crab omelette looked and tasted like vomit. I don't normally leave bad reviews, but I am still sick to my stomach several hours after eating it, and I don't know if it was due to the food itself being rotten or just the memory of how it looked. The crab was grayish-brown chunks in a liquid sauce just poured all over the egg. It smelled really, really strong. I only ate a few bites. This was my second bad experience here, so I don't plan on returning. read more

Today marked my second experience with ABE, but the first when I've gotten food. The first time I came here, it was the day they opened. My friends and I were meeting for breakfast at seven on Saturday morning. We had seen the restaurant on Northwestern and, since we were looking for a good breakfast spot, we decided to see when it opened. On the restaurant's website and Facebook page, it said it was open. So we arrived shortly after seven. The gentleman who came to the door said, "I'm sorry. We don't open until Monday." "Oh," we said. "Online and on Facebook we read that you're open." "Well, today is just a soft open for VIPs." Here's what: I get the soft open thing. It's important. But when three paying customers show up *because you advertised your restaurant as being open for business,* then that's on you. The VIPs were nowhere in sight, and I am of the opinion that, since it was their fault that we showed up expecting to be able to eat there, then they should have welcomed us inside and served us. At least get us some coffee. As it was, we took our business elsewhere. So I wasn't going to give the restaurant another chance, but they sent out mailers with a free traditional breakfast - two eggs, seasoned potatoes, and an English muffin. I decided that if they were willing to do that, they must think that even their most basic food is a good advertisement for their restaurant. I didn't have much time this morning before I needed to be at an appointment, but I had plenty of time for carry out, so I called ahead to order the traditional breakfast, a cup of fruit, and a small orange juice. They told me it would be ready in 10-15 minutes. "Perfect," I thought. "That's the length of my commute to campus." So I arrived 13 minutes after I ended the call. There were three customers in the restaurant, so they weren't swamped by any stretch of the imagination. Still, I was asked to take a seat and wait at the counter. It took an additional 10 minutes to get my food and check. The reason I called ahead was so that I wouldn't have to wait 10 minutes in the restaurant. So, the service was unnecessarily slow for carryout, especially given the simplicity of my order. Now to the food: The fruit cup was generous - a 12 oz to-go cup packed to the brim with flavorful fruit. It was $2.99, so I'm glad it wasn't disappointing. The OJ was not spectacular and, for a small, it was also $2.99 which seems overpriced. As for the traditional breakfast, my over-easy eggs were perfect. The seasoned potatoes were nothing awesome. Actually, they kind of just tasted like standard curly fries from fast food joints, but they weren't that greasy, which was a plus. The English muffin was not only not toasted, it was cold. Cold enough that it seems like they just took it out of the refrigerator and put it in my take-out box. So that was super disappointing. I know that restaurants aren't always on their A-game for take-out, so I'll give it one more chance for an in-restaurant experience but, I've got to say, the spark of my hope has gone cold - as cold as a refrigerated English muffin. read more

As of September 2015, this place is packed with people. It takes a while to get seated depending on the time of the day. And after that, it's going to be another while before you see a drink or menu. The place is understaffed and overly crowded. It would have be worth it if the food was great, but it wasn't. I had the supreme omelette and steal cut oats. I hate the fact that I was handed a bottle of honey and a bottle of cinnamon with the oatmeal. The worst part is that it is undercooked. The omelette was underwhelming also. I expected the portion to be more substantial since they are charging $10 for it. But no, it was pretty small and had too much oil. The omelette came with tater tots on the side. I wish they would at least have a heather option such as mesh potatoes, or baked potatoes. All an all, I do not recommend this place for a healthy brunch. This is the sort of place, where you would get poorly cooked dinner food with a big splash of melted cheese on top. It's not the upscale brunch place that it was branded to be. BTW, parking is going to be a problem if you don't have Purdue parking pass and you are there on a weekday morning. read more

- Food quality is higher than other local breakfast places, e.g., Christos, Route 66. - Restaurant is usually very crowded but they allow you to use the "No Wait" app to wait without wasting your time. - Only negative I've experienced is incorrect takeout orders. On multiple occasions items have been missing from my takeout bag. Staff has always been accommodating and "made it right" but it still shouldn't happen. Luckily I think they have taken notice of this and are improving their management and carryout process. read more

As fresh alumni, 3 of us came here on a Sunday during brunch after visiting for a home football game. As expected, the wait was quite long (ended up being ~40 mins). However, the lobby waiting area is spacious and had (clutch) coffee. They also put you on a text message list so we took advantage of the location and walked around campus. After being seated, we were warmly welcomed by our server (she was seriously awesome, if you're reading this "you're a 10"). Received our food surprisingly fast after putting in orders. It hit the spot on so many levels. Tasty, large portions, and fairly priced. Great addition to Purdue. We look forward to coming back, especially once they have their liquor license. Bonus points to whoever threw the egg at their sidewalk sign. Clever. read more

I had a decent experience here. It had recently just opened so everything looked nice, new, and clean. The other customers seemed to be very hungry college kids so it was nice to see what their orders looked like when they came out. I ordered the biscuit beignets for a starter. Sadly, I was not impressed. They were tough and hard to even pull apart. It came with a honey marmalade to dunk them in....it did not compliment them at all. I also had the smoked salmon benny for my main course. It was pretty good! A lot of cream cheese but I just scraped some of it off and it ended up being alright and actually inspired me to make my own version at home. Of course I liked my version better ha ha! Maybe it was a fluke due to just recently opening? They also had some very tasty sounding other options. read more

Excellent food! Worth the wait to get a table. A bit pricey but worth every penny and great service!

I've never been disappointed with Another Broken Egg. This visit was no different. Excellent service & food.

Came in on Sunday and had the Lobster Egg Benedict which was recommended by Bobby! Food was excellent and service was prompt with good conversation. Keep up the good work! read more

I've been here a dozen times or so, usually early morning on weekends. The menu is great... I've had a few different omelets, biscuits and gravy, a few different Benedicts, shrimp and grits, huevos rancheros... I'm getting hungry thinking about them. The hard part is deciding. The Crab Cake Benedict and the Hey Lucy! omelet are probably my favorites, and I recommend them whenever I take someone here for breakfast. I have to force myself to explore other options, and every item I have tried has been amazing. The bar is really good as well. As their sign says: "Brunch without booze is just a sad, late breakfast." Their signature drinks are perfectly made. A Bloody Mary isn't hard to make, but theirs is special. Well-mixed, great flavor, cool garnish and hits the spot. I just looked at the drink menu and I see several other drinks I'd like to try. The staff is friendly and attentive, and they make a great brunch even better. Even on the few occasions that I was there at a busy time, I got good and prompt, friendly service. In addition to great servers, the bartenders are great. I've never had a bad experience here. It's obviously more expensive than a typical breakfast place, but you get what you pay for, and the great brunch with great drinks that you get at Another Broken Egg, you're still coming out ahead. read more

This has the most amazing breakfast food in town. A lot of the choices are a little bit strange when you read them on the menu, but give it a try - you'll be so glad that you did. It seems like parking would be a problem, but this is right next to the NorthWestern St. garage at Purdue - you can park there for free sometimes and so that makes things easier. read more

Since the first day it was open it had always been very full and busy at noon probably because that it has a very competitive location - right beside the Armstrong building at Purdue university. The food here is awesome. I was here with my boyfriend for lunch and we ordered lobster, steak, and cafe burger. They were all awesome in taste and appearance. This place is worth trying if you haven't been here but I don't think they do reservations so you will have to be there early before busy hours to get a seat fast. read more

Another Broken Egg Cafe - From the closest to furthest are: steak, cafe burger, and lobster. The steak was served between bread and eggs with soggy yolk. - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - West Lafayette, Indiana

Best place to grab breakfast/brunch!! The choices are endless and everything is great.

If you are looking for a great brunch place in the West Lafayette area, consider Another Broken Egg. Located just on the east end of Purdue's campus, it's a prime location for both foot traffic as well as those who drive. There is a parking lot behind Wang Hall for customers, which is really nice. I do believe you can make reservations, but I'm not sure. I would call ahead on busy brunch days, like Sunday, if you plan to have a large group or don't want to wait a while. The menu is good with a lot of interesting variety. I'm going to use the word hipster-y because some of the menu items just strike me that way. Maybe I've just never been to good brunch places I don't know. I've been here twice, and I normally order the traditional breakfast with egg whites and sausage. Egg white substituions are available for all egg items, I believe. I took my sister and brother-in-law here as well, and they seemed to enjoy it. If you are going to order a la carte, be careful. It can get pricey (a side of 3 pieces of bacon, is like...four bucks). The food is really good though. The dining area is pretty small, with a bar and outdoor seating available. The staff is quite friendly, and I've never had an issue with them. Some of the customers, however, can be a little less than fun to deal with. Since it is a college campus, some students like to come in and set up their laptops and work, which is cool, but sometimes they are inconsiderate and stay a really long time even thought there are people waiting to be seated. So take that into account if you are getting breakfast during the school year. read more

They are understaffed, and the place is very tiny and crowded. I felt like eating in a library during the finals. We got here around 1PM and waited 20 minutes to get seated. The food came out after 45 minutes! A lot of other people had to wait as well. If you are looking for a nice relaxing brunch with your family, I recommend not to come here. Also, their food is overpriced and does not have many selection. I ordered a Belgium waffle, eggs and ham. They were OK, but not worth $12. My boyfriend got a Potato sensation and the plate was full of grease. Yuckkkk. read more

The hubs and I stopped in for brunch late Sunday morning over Presidents' Day weekend while we were in town. The estimated wait was at least 45 minutes; however, we were fortunate to quickly snag a couple of stools at the bar. Ginny (I hope I'm remembering her name correctly) and her partner serving diners at the bar were phenomenal! She was warm, friendly, helpful, and very efficient with our orders and requests. I enjoyed the complimentary biscuit beignets as a first-time customer. The Veggie Delight Omelette was delicious, as was the Grand Mimosa. Prices are a little high...but that seems par for the course lately, everywhere. We will definitely visit again when we are in the area. read more

Upon walking in, this seemed like a fancy brunch spot and had a lot of choices for breakfast/lunch. I got the biscuits and gravy, which was pretty good, and a side of cheesy grits. I wasn't a huge fan of the grits because it lacked in flavor and the texture seemed off. I felt the prices didn't accurately represent the quality of the food, but definitely not a bad brunch place! The staff were excellent and very helpful. read more

Awesome brunch place. Very popular but did not feel hurried during our meal or after. Vinny is the best server and deserves a promotion. Or a raise. Also, the Spiked Nutella Iced Coffee is the best drink on the menu and I recommend having it in a pitcher as an option. read more

ABE is one of the best brunch places in town. I love coming here, the staff is awesome, the food is phenomenal. My favorite omelette is the bacquezo, it comes stuffed with cream cheese! I love the chicken and waffles, especially the chipotle honey drizzle. However, my favorite thing to get here is the biscuit beignets! It's fried biscuit dough with confectioners sugar and an orange marmalade, absolutely phenomenal. They're pretty busy on the weekend so the awesome hosts sat me at the bar. My server, Richard, was great, awesome conversation! This place is pretty popular so I would recommend getting the nowait app to put your name in in-advance. read more

11/10 service. My friend and I were taking the Bird scooters to breakfast club and her costume got stuck in the wheel right outside. Bloody Mary Pitchers are a rip off. 24 bucks ! Micro pitcher and All ice on top of it. Barley 4 glasses. Corporate policy as he was standing right here. Locals are nice here however and are hog tied to do anything about it.BUT FOOD IS GREAT ! Just don't like getting ripped off with a small pitcher with ice. Manager came by and took off the pitcher. Nice guy. This is common sense. Food great though. read more

I used to go to Another Broken Egg down in Florida and I was pleased to see that a location opened up on campus. It's always our go to for a filling Sunday brunch. I almost always get the Huevos Rancheros with Chorizo. An egg, beans, salsa, Chrizo sausage all piled onto a crispy tortilla -mmmm! The food has never disappointed me. Our wait staff has always been very friendly and helpful. However, there is almost always a wait to get in or a wait to get your food if you go in at a busy time. read more

My family came here on a Sunday, so it was very busy. We waited 45 minutes to be seated. Initially, we were put in the back room which was not very pleasant and dimly lit. Once we were moved by request, the food took a very long time to come, even our coffee and water. The food was nothing spectacular, less than diner quality. Cold, obviously made in huge batches potatoes and cold eggs with unmelted cheese. We ordered waffles that was supposed to have white chocolate syrup and it came without it. I also opened a napkin for utensils only to find them used and very dirty. The whole experience took two hours, we were the last ones out and our check was very pricey for food that was not tasty or filling. We all left pretty disappointed. read more

So happy to be back here. Breakfast that can't be compared with. The eggs benedict was scrumptious. My cousin tried the crab and loved it. We stopped in on a Sunday around 1pm and although it was a 20-minute wait for a table, we were able to immediately grab two seats at the bar, which has a full selection including a spicy Bloody Mary. I had the Bacquezo omelet, which was stuffed with cream cheese and bacon, and topped with chorizo, Monterey Jack cheese and green onion. It was delightful. My companion had the Southern Crabstack, which he remarked was just "marginal". I suppose it's the quality of crab you should expect at a brunch diner in the midwest. There was a nice selection of Benedicts including crab, salmon, and flat iron steak. The menu also included light lunch options and other specialty dishes like blackberry grits and a monster cinnamon roll that looked amazing. I would return to try some of the other items. read more

Great breakfast spot! Lots of different breakfast choices, nothing is basic or bland. Great service, will definitely go back again !

I got a BLAST sandwich that had bacon, lettuce, avocado, Swiss cheese, and tomato (I chose fried green tomato). It came with a pickle and country fries. Well... Let me tell you the whole meal was cold. The only thing that was barely warm was the fried tomatoes. Fries were soggy and cold and rubbery. Bread was soggy on one side and greasy on the other (how is that even possible?). Bacon was wayyyy over cooked (I think it was sharp enough to scratch the roof of my mouth like 50 times).... Service was great though, hence the 2 stars instead of 1. Will not return. read more

Came here for breakfast with 3 other people while I was in town for work. Big menu with lots of options. We had a great server who gave us recommendations and answered all of our questions. I ordered the chicken & waffles with the honey sauce on the side. When it came out, she realized she forgot to have them put it on the side. This restaurant has a good taste and reputation that you can trust that they will make a big plate.

Friendly service and pretty good food for a chain. Very busy on the weekend so be sure to add your name to the waitlist prior to arrival. The mimosa pitchers are pricey but pack a punch. This is my second time going with my boyfriend and it was just another okay experience. This time we both got chicken and waffles and our own personal sides to enjoy. I had some fried potatoes which weren't really seasoned that well but we're mediocre. My boyfriend had eggs and he really enjoyed them. For both of us, the chicken and waffles were good but not as hot as we would have liked. Overall, for a hour wait, which is pretty common on a Sunday, I just expected a little more.
