This is your best bet for a solid breakfast in the Jackson area. I like to come here because the menu makes it pretty easy to accomodate anyone (it's got healthy choices, vegetarian options, etc) and the food's been good. It's also got a charming kind of vibe that you won't find at other breakfast chains like IHOP, and when the weather is nice, the outside seating is great. I love the decor of the place. I sat at the bar cause I was dining alone. The bar was very busy and the place was packed. I ordered the shrimp and grits and waited almost 30 minutes for my order. The waitress was very apologetic and only charged me half for my meal and I got a free Mimosa! I will definitely go back, the shrimp and grits were ok. Starting with the positive: I had the black bean Bennie and it was, really good. And now for the rest. I didn't initially get what I ordered and our coffee was served cold. My partner's plate was pretty standard diner breakfast food and was overpriced. My gripe: I think it's overpriced. His gripe: he thinks someone should've tried to apologize or compensate for the bad service. We both worked extensively in the food service industry and understand that bad days happen. This is a great place for brunch, but expect a little bit of a wait. In their defense I did go on a Saturday morning. The customer service was excellent and our waitress was very knowledge about subbing out items on the menu. She made it a point to tell us our various options which was wonderful. We noticed families who got here after us going in to be seated before us and I went in to check and she said she texted us and called our name but she never did either. Made reservations online trying to limit the wait, online said an hour and twenty-five minute wait. That was ok being that my drive was forty-five minutes. I get to the restaurant, check in and was told it would be an hour and thirty minute wait..keep in mind I'd already driven forty-five of my original hour and twenty-five. After waiting in my car for an hour and fifteen minutes I asked the hostess my wait time, she states there are fourteen parties ahead of me!! WHAT!! FOURTEEN!! They did not seat us all at once my family was separated across the building. Employee walking over us while we waited looking over us as if we was not there kept pushing us down the list. I thought the food was pretty good. You could really get any one of the dishes and split it, which would make a lot more sense for the prices they are charging. The service was OK, but I definitely ended up with an empty cup that sat there, sad because it was sorely lacking coffee, for quite some time (twice). We made our first visit here today and am pleased to say we really enjoyed it. First off, THANKS to the manager, Serena for welcoming us with a free half order of beignets! Yummy! The entire meal was yummy, in fact!. I had the Eggs Blackstone Benedict, which was decadent, while my other half had the Cajun Louisiana Crawfish Skillet. Thanks for the pleasant and professional service provided by James, too. There were a lot of servers on hand and the manager even chipped in to bus, as well. The ambiance was pleasant. We'll definitely be returning to try something else on the menu. Whatever you're doing, keep it up and don't change a thing. NOTE: The only reason we didn't give the Cafe 5 stars is this: we have a pet peeve with dirty dishes sitting in front of us after dining while trying to relax and finish our coffee. We noticed this was a practice on all of the tables. Please, please, pick up the dishes when you see patrons are done eating. I don't know about you, but we don't like fighting for free space to enjoy our cup of coffee. Also, we do expect our cups of coffee to be brought out before our meal and not afterwards. Also, we shouldn't have to ask for it when we already ordered it at the beginning. Other than that, we don't see any need for changes. Really good food. Good pancake, nice coffee friendly staff. I went by myself and i sat on their bar area which was nice. Service was good. I had a pancake, cheese grits and basted eggs with bacon. Yes finally I found a place who makes basted eggs and who knows what basted means. :) The two ladies sitting next to me ordered them as well. Perfect eggs would defi go back but since I live in brandon it is a bit of a drive for me to just go there for breakfast. The only con I have is that because they are so great, it's always sooooooooooooo packed and so busy. My party checked in with the NoWait app and only had to wait 2 minutes for our table to be ready once we arrived. We sat at the bar and had two amazing servers take care of us. I would highly recommend sitting at the bar area as service has never disappointed me in this area. The lovely and enchanting Ashley made me an iced vanilla coffee from scratch. I had the Crab Cakes Benedict with grits on the side and a pancake (toldja I was hungry). Every bite I put in my mouth was a gustatory kaleidoscope of food-gasmic delight. I was doing the happy food dance in my seat the entire time. If I'd had room I would have licked the plate, except I hear that's maybe not good manners. I ran out of room so I didn't manage to eat the grits, but that was the only less-than-perfect note to the whole experience. Paul Prudhomme said that a good meal could change your life, and I think he was onto something. We just left here. This was not what we were expecting being that everyone raves about this place. Today is a Monday so there was no wait. Our waitress took our order and seemed pleasant enough but we never saw her until the end of the meal. My husband's toast came out burnt...completely black. But because we didn't see our waitress we couldn't ask for more. I also asked for toast but got and English muffin instead. Again, couldn't ask for this to be corrected because waitress wasn't around. Disappointed. I ordered the chocolate stuffed waffle. It was described as stuffed with white and dark chocolate and topped with strawberries and whipped cream, I got a plain waffle with Hershey's syrup and strawberries. When I asked the manager about it he insisted to the point of arguing that chocolate was in there but later admitted they were out of chocolate and he took it back and made a new one with a few chocolate chips in it like you would get from waffle house.
