Same breakfast three years later.

Another good experience at another broken yoke. Glad that some things never really change.

Shrimp and grits
Claudy C.

I had to come here for brunch to get some shrimp and grits. They never disappoint. The inside is clean and spacious. The staff are friendly. The food comes out pretty fast. The best shrimp and grits you can ever eat in a restaurant. They're on point. It's creamy and cooked right. Very flavorful. My favorite spot for shrimp and grits.

Parking lot of close by and free which is nice. Took my friend here for her birthday brunch. She got a bloody Mary which she said was super good. So got two of those. I got a lavender drink with Saint Germaine and champagne and a tequila mule. Both were on the sweet side but still good flavor. So the downside is there is only one salad on the menu. There should be at least two. We both got the chicken Cobb with with grilled chicken. I am glad you could sub grilled for the fried to make it healthier. It came with a honey mustard dressing which was good but it wasnt Cobb dressing which is typically blue cheese. Still overall it was a good salad. We did add avocado, bell pepper, onion, and cucumber to it. The bowls were super cute too. The service overall was a little slow even though there wasnt a lot of people. So giving it a 4 out of 5. Id still be back occasionally.

I've come a few times for breakfast and they have a good variety of savory or sweet style breakfast/brunch. I like regular back and egg style kind of breakfast which they have & they also have desserts style breakfast waffles and French toast plates. The service moves fast and efficient, we never had longer than a 20 minute wait for a table when we've come here. They're located in the middle of downtown Burbank so there's lots of street parking nearby where you can find free street parking or close by meter parking.

Loaded grits and lobster and crab Benedict

Came here for brunch for the second time because I really enjoy a good Southern-style breakfast, and the food here is usually really good. This visit, my boyfriend and I both ordered the crab cake Benedict. Flavor-wise, it's definitely a standout rich, savory, and exactly what you want from a brunch dish like that. The restaurant was busy, but we were seated pretty quickly, which I appreciated. The ambiance is great for a brunch date lively but still comfortable. The only downside this time was the wait for the food. It took a little longer than expected, and by the time it arrived we were pretty hungry. Unfortunately, the dishes came out cold, and it seemed like they may have been sitting out for a bit. We didn't send them back, but that was definitely disappointing. Overall, I still like this spot and would come back. The flavors and atmosphere are there I just hope the kitchen timing improves next time.

Coffee cup with little creamer

Found on Google and loved the reviews. Didn't realize it was southern inspired food but it was amazing. Coffee came in cool little cups with individual creamer I had the bacon and grilled tomato Benedict and my friend had traditional breakfast. Service was great, ambiance and all. When in town again will definitely check it out again

Stopped in here for brunch the other day and I was a bit underwhelmed. We parked right in the front on the street, which now has to be paid for. We got seated right away and I got the traditional breakfast with a waffle on the side. The breakfast was just ok. I would've liked the eggs to be more fluffy, and my toast was soggy. I wouldn't also liked the potatoes and bacon to be a bit lore crispy. The waffle was very yummy though, it was perfectly warm and crispy. They seem to have a large menu of alcoholic drinks but no kinda special lattes or iced coffees. Place is also very family friendly.

Went here during the holidays and forgot to review but this is such a great place! The staff were really nice and helpful, especially when we were deciding what to order. And our waitress was really attentive. Loved the coffee and the branded mugs that they have. The decor is simple and what you expect in a diner/brunch style restaurant. The food was really good, especially the omelette and crab Benedict. Will definitely be back again

Biscuit Beignets

Another Broken Egg Cafe never disappoints! Our daughter specifically asked to have brunch here before her flight home to Nashville. The wait was not long -- we joined the waitlist online as we parked. We were then seated when we arrived. I can't resist the Lobster & Brie Omelette. The husband chose from the seasonal menu this time -- Louisiana Benedict. The daughter -- Bourbon Street Pancakes. Everything was OMG delicious! Fluffy pancakes, wonderful sauces, fresh fruit, crispy potatoes, creamy grits and coffee in their super-cute mugs. It's all so satisfying. Service has always been great -- today was no exception. Thank you Jacky!

Cinnamon Roll French toast

Such a great breakfast spot. We had my daughter's birthday breakfast celebration here before heading to Universal Studios...& it was perfect. We enjoyed all the food. Lots of food for a good price. You must get the beignets & cinnamon roll French toast. You can thank me later.

Entrance
Patty L.

Located next to city hall so street parking is limited and it'll cost you. Decor gave me a spanish vibe with coffee mugs lined at the entrance but, if you look at the menu, they aim for more southern-inspired meals. We chose to eat inside instead of the patio cause it was overcast in burbank that morning, making it too chilly. But good to know we could bring our pup to join us, if we wanted. Lots of options to choose from on the menu, most of us went with the seasonal options. Our drinks werent ideal which made us dubious about the meals. Coffees came out lukewarm and too bitter while my mocktail, the strawberry lemonade spritzer was subtle. Reminded me more of how a watermelon-based drink would taste. For food, we had the Louisiana benedict, the corned beef and Brussels hash, and the apple fritter French toast. The benedict was disappointing. It was supposed to have hollandaise sauce but either a minimal amount was placed or it was forgotten. By the time we were checked on, i didnt want to bother bringing it up. The accompanying large portion of potatoes could have used some seasoning so I used a generous amount of the vinegar bottle. The star was the Apple Fritter French toast!! It was melt in your mouth delicious. Definitely understand why it was labeled a guest favorite on the menu. It stood out enough for me to suggest a visit here.

Iced Vanilla Cold Brew
Rosa R.

The iced vanilla cold brew was delicious. Would definitely come back just for this. The Crab Cake Benedict, for me personally, sadly, I did not like it, not sure what the issue was, it was not savory, I did taste the crab but did not like the flavors. As for the grits, oh boy, they needed seasoning, just putting cheese on top did nothing for it. Our server, Jason was outstanding, he was on point on all levels!

Larissa M.

I had this place saved for a long time, and when I was finally in town I was excited to stop by. They only serve breakfast and are open from 7am to 2pm. We arrived on a Sunday around 11:15am and were told the wait would be about 20 minutes. It ended up being closer to 45 minutes, but I understood it was a busy day and tried to be patient. The harder part was the service after we were seated. I am not sure if the kitchen was short staffed, but the food took a very long time to come out. From the moment we arrived to the time we left, we were there nearly two hours, which felt like a lot for breakfast. If you plan to visit on a weekend, it helps to leave extra time. I ordered the starter breakfast, which I really liked because you can pick your eggs, your choice of meat, plus a biscuit or toast, and it comes with potatoes. It is a great option if you want a little bit of everything. Overall, I really wanted to love this place, and I hope the timing and service improve because the concept and menu are lovely.

What times and days are brunch sold?

Do they have bottomless mimosas?

Unfortunately no

Is the Burbank number off? We have been calling all day.. Thx!

I have not seen them open since the stay home quarantine started. No take out sign either.

How long is the wait between 7-8am on a weekday?

Wait times not long, but not sure why, the food took kind of long to get to the table. Getting the check took a little but too. I hope this helps.

Do they sell those coffee cups if so how much?

I don't know. My guess, sure, anything's for sale.

Hi, can I reserve a table here beforehand?

Yes! Add your name to the waitlist on Yelp. It will give you a time to check in to the restaurant by. Make sure you check in before that time & keep your phone near you & on loud. You will receive a text message when your table is ready!

Are there any vegan options?

I don't believe they have vegan options on the menu but I gather they would be able to put something together for you that tastes good. They've always been friendly and accommodating in my experience. The food is good there and eventually I'll be… Read more

I fell in love before i even saw the menu. Now don't even get me started on that world class water. Best water I've ever consumed. Perfectly cold and delectably drinkable. They have a whole freaking sign for their sauces and dips. I'm in love. I got a Shirley temple and if i could marry a place instead of a person, the Shirley temple would be my reason. It was FANTASTIC. Our server, Isaiah, was absolutely amazing and on top of things, refilling our water before we even hit half glass. Not to mention his energy and vibe was so welcoming and fun. We got the PuPu platter for two, came out within minutes, I could spend the rest of my life eating that alone. Isaiah recommended his favorite sauces, Garlic Chive and Chipotle Citrus, they were amazing. We got the shrimp and lobster roll, I officially entered heaven. The Isles of Club sandwich was the finishing touch that had me laughing from joy. Near the end of our dining we meant Max, another server, who is absolutely fantastic, brought us everything we needed, boxes, sauce containers, bags, to-go dessert. His energy was also amazing and super fun. Now some extra things to note: -I'm not a big mac salad girly, but holy moly guacamole i loved their Mac salad. -anything tempura/fried in this place is heaven itself -their fries are perfect -the vibe is beyond life you might start crying in joy -be ready to want to buy everything on the menu and then some -I downloaded yelp just to leave this review Overall, Broken Compass Tiki is the perfect place for everyone. Their service is top tier, the food is delicious, the water is a treasure, and so much more. I will be back and I hope everyone has a chance of experiencing pure joy at this place.

Broken Compass Tiki is a pirate themed tiki bar in Burbank…read more They don't having a parking lot, but it was very easy to find street parking just around the corner on a Sunday afternoon. The front of the building is a little vaguely marked, and the entrance has speakeasy vibes, which was a surprise. Upon walking in the front door, there is some tiki décor and a small counter in the rear. I remember thinking to myself "what the heck, this is it?". I checked in at the host stand on the left, and was handed me a boarding pass. She then led us through a hidden door behind what looked like a shipping crate. We were now in the real Broken Compass. The interior is a good size. The two-sided bar seats around a dozen. There is a lounge side of the bar that has two large booths along the wall, and another area with comfortable looking couches and lounge chairs. The main dining room has some tiki hut booths, and two sections of tables with half booth and half chair. The décor is pretty extensive with a good mix of pirate, nautical, and tiki themes. There is a lot of bamboo, thatch, rope, cargo netting, skulls and skeletons, port holes, octopus tentacles, jellyfish, tiki lights, and more. The ceiling is dark with various nautical and pirate markings, and even tied up ship sails overhead. The tiki hut booths have the parrots from the enchanted tiki room above them. Even the two restrooms are nautical themed, with beach and marine sounds playing. There is a lot of great décor to look at. We arrived around 2pm on a Sunday, so it wasn't very busy yet. By the time we left a few hours later, it was starting to get busy. We decided to sit at the bar. We started out with the buffalo cauliflower ($14) for an afternoon snack. The serving size was generous, and the buffalo sauce had a good tang. It was served with some sauces, and was surprisingly filling. A nice feature of the cocktail menu is that each drink displays one to three compass stars to indicate the strength of the drink. Their cocktails use a great variety of liquors including ones you don't often see. Many of the ingredients are made in-house. I started out with Chupacabra's Vacation (Demerara Rum, Jamacian Rum, Pomegranate Reduction, Cinnamon, Lime Juice, Bitters, two-star boozy rank, $17). It is served with a flaming lime on top and a little fire show. It was balanced with a light booziness, some light pomegranate flavor, and a cinnamon sprinkle on top. She started out with the Bittersweet Paradise (Jamacian Rum, White Rum, Campari, Passionfruit Syrup, Lemon, Lime, Pineapple, two-star boozy rank, $18). It didn't drink boozy at all, and was passion fruit forward, with light bitterness. My second cocktail was the Bermuda Dune Buggy (Gin, Overproof Rum, Kumquat Liqueur, Cassis, Orange, Lime, Bitters, two-star boozy rank, $18). It had a very unique garnish of a Chartreuse infused gummy which was delicious. The drink was nicely balanced, and didn't really drink boozy even with overproof rum in it. They have a rotating monthly cocktail and she tried the Tropic Like It's Hot (Coconut Washed Lemongrass Infused Rum, Mango, Lemon, Coconut Water, Amaro, $17) which was created by one of our bartenders Daniel. It was served in a Spam can and was light and refreshing with a nice pop of fruit at the start, and a very nice coconut flavor. We enjoyed sitting at the bar and had great conversation with our bartenders Daniel and Monica. They also provided excellent service. Broken Compass supports payment with the InKind app which gives you 20% back (10% on Friday and Saturday) in InKind cash. We had a really great time here, and the drinks, food, décor, and atmosphere were excellent. I purchased a Hork (Horse-shaRK) mug for $50 to bring home as a souvenir. We would definitely return again when in the area.

The French toast was exactly as you would imagine, cooked well and had a nice flavor. The French toast came with a side of eggs, meat, and potatoes. I chose over medium eggs, bacon, and hash browns. My eggs were cooked right, the bacon was crispy without being brittle, and the hash browns were perfect. Definitely worth it!
