Annie's looks distinctly uninviting from the outside, with its peeling black paint and rusty cages over the windows. However, inside is a quirky second hand shop which is the perfect place to pick up idiosyncratic bric a bracs - or, as some might unkindly call it, junk. I like to imagine that there may be some priceless antiques hidden amongst all the plastic beads, piles of old videos and ornamental china dogs.
If you're in Leith and, like me, enjoy trawling charity shops for bargains, it's worth calling in to Annie's to have a look even if just for the novelty value. But if you're looking for something specific - unless it happens to be a commemorative butterfly plate from 1993 - then you're unlikely to find it in here. read more
