Black and Spiro is exactly the kind of interior decorating shop where I will come as soon as my money tree has bloomed. OK, maybe I'll need a plantation of money trees because it's not exactly cheap, but an exciting place to browse if you have a soft spot for design.
It's easy to think upon walking in that Black and Spiro is gaudy and over the top, but bare in mind that this is a shop that is full of signature pieces. Despite being displayed together, they are not intended to compliment each other. It's full of one off pieces that would add colour and excitement to a room without overpowering it. There are amazing things such as old alphabet school lockers which would make for an interesting bookcase, beautiful lamps and a small selection of lounges and armchairs in various colourful prints. This is furniture and art that are intended to be speaking points and attention grabbers, not for function.
With New Farm and Teneriffe located just around the corner, Black and Spiro is in exactly the right place in terms of geography of their demographic. It's a lovely place to browse and daydream about your dream home, or come to invest in a great item that you will keep forever. read more
