I open the large glass door that swings easily on its hinge to enter this major commercial gallery. There is a small reception area and then I enter the large single room of the gallery. Unlike many of Melbourne's commercial galleries Anna Schwartz gallery does not look like warehouse or shop front conversion. The concrete gray of the front and reception area gives way to long white walls and a high ceiling.
Anna Schwartz Gallery represents notable Australian and international artists who are represented in major public collections, like the NGV. This doesn't mean that I will like the exhibition; I don't like the current exhibition, it is a bit of minimalist bore but next month there will be a different exhibition. On other occasions the exhibition has been so good that I've taken C back to see the exhibition I have been raving about. read more
