There's a great community at Locus -- where everyone's treated with kindness, courtesy and respect. It's a 24/7 situation so even if you're working U.S. hours, you can stay into the night if necessary. Locus is located in a very safe neighborhood with the metro and tram both five minutes away on foot. I participated in several Locus events including lunches, trivia games, poker night and a Beer Friday. I'm planning to return to Prague soon -- and will absolutely sign up for a spot at Locus again. They organize a variety of social events that promote connections between members. When I was there the events included weekly lunches and coffee breaks, and monthly "Free Beer Friday's" and pub nights. These helped facilitate initial introductions that lead to friendships. Facility-wise, Locus has comfortable office chairs and desks, and large windows that let in a lot of natural light. They also have WiFi outside in the summer, so you can work in their courtyard. The sense of belonging I felt at Locus made my stay in Prague feel like a second home. I miss it and hope to be back soon.

I signed up for the four week intensive course to get my TEFL certificate (which had been…read morerecommended by several friends as the best way to teach English and one of the most recognised certifications globally). I was expecting a 9 - 5 scenario of turning up, getting a book to read and going home... Little did I realise that The Language House TEFL in Prague has trained over 3000 graduates and had their training down to a fine art. It required a lot of work, but that the trainers and staff were there to help out every step of the way offering to go the extra mile if ever I needed clarification or help with anything, for example lesson planning. By the end of the course I had learned so much and feel I am ready to teach English at all levels from private tutoring to a 30 students at once. They also offer housing and job assistance (from hints on your CV, being a reference, or just pointing you in the right direction). I honestly haven't met a group of people more passionate about what they do and so willing to help you have the best, most exciting time teaching abroad. As a bonus The Language House TEFL is located right in the middle of the historic part of Prague, which makes it a great place to experience this amazing city and a life (changing) experience you'll never forget.

Holešovice has definitely changed since the 90s and is transforming into Prague's art district. This district give the perfect alternative to Prague's picture perfect tourist attractions and Paralelni Polis is a part of it. The place accepts only Bitcoins, but you can get it in the Bitcoin ATM and there is always someone to help you and explain. Great place!
