    Dragon bowl!
    Mimi J.

I came here with friends for lunch; check their facebook page to make sure they are open! What we go: - Angry Dragonz bowl x2 (shrimp, beef, and lamb skewer) - Eggrolls: crispy, slightly bland, but large in terms of size! - Chicken pad thai: lots of flavour and very fresh I would say that overall this is a good value meal; it is filling, and there is lots of flavour. The food was made quickly enough, and there were a lot of condiments that could be added. Also reach up to get a fortune cookie from the counter!

I don't work downtown so I don't often get to have lunch at a food truck. But when I have a week day off, I make a point to go check out Angry Dragonz. Avoid going at 12 if you can because there will be a long line up. We got there at 1h30pm and it was quiet. We placed our order right away and only waited 5 minutes to get our food. Chicken panang is where it's at! I've never had such delicious panang anywhere else. So much food for 10$ and so much flavour! The curry and peanut flavour marry well together, and there's a small kick of heat, but not enough to make anyone weak to spice (like me) want to stop eating. I was only able to eat half of it for lunch, so I had the rest for dinner. Still just as good! I really love the food here and I really hope Angry Dragonz will be able to stick around. Definitely coming back!

Dragon bowl! Rice with Asian slaw and 3 skewers! Lamb beef and chicken. Lamb by far the best

Love the skewers! The seasoning on the lamb reminds me of the street food from Beijing! The beef skewer was good but tougher than the lamb... And chicken is a good alternative for anyone trying this type of food for the first time. The dragon bowl had rice, slaw and 3 skewers. However you can also buy the skewers (3) on their own for 6.5$ which is really the bulk of the meal.

    Chicken pad Thai. So delicious.

I heard so many great things about Angry Dragonz so had to try it out tonight at their Friday night location across from the Ottawa Convention Centre. The truck arrived shortly after 5 and we were salivating. We shared an order of the egg rolls -- tasty -- but it's hard to beat the egg rolls at So Good on Somerset. Ordered the chicken pad Thai -- what a flavour explosion in my mouth. Generous amount of chicken, egg, and coriander coupled with the sweet but spicy sauce, cabbage, peanuts and the perfect amount of sprouts. We were very full and our taste buds satiated after our dinner here. This pad Thai , in this humble reviewer's opinion, is better than the pad Thai I've had in many restaurants around O-town. And it's $8 to boot! Can't beat that!! Highly recommend it! (Service here was excellent as well).

No comment of this place. I went there twice. Both time they close early. One time they closed at 2:30 p.m. This time 2:45p.m. My suggestion is to go there before 2 p.m. so you don't get disappointed. I came visiting Ottawa all the way from Vancouver. Missed this place twice. Will I try it again? Nope! I don't think I will miss anything there. The are so many nicer places to eat in Ottawa.

    Beef skewers and egg rolls...

Got the beef skewers with egg rolls, they are both delicious! The beef skewers have a good amount of spice, but not overly spicy. The egg rolls are my favorite! Nice crispy outside with a great filling. The spicy plum sauce is perfect with it.

Full disclosure: I have never bought anything here, I have just eaten my friend's fries, lol. Well, I'll admit it, the fries are good. They are greasy chip wagon fries. Chip wagon fries remind me of my childhood. When I was a kid, my parents and I would go to visit family friends almost every weekend. They had a daughter a few years older than me, and while my parents didn't let me venture out on my own, they entrusted me with their friends' daughter, and she would take me to this chip wagon in front of Nathan Phillips Square (in Toronto) and we would get fries. It was good times. And you know what? Eating fries at TV's Fries with my friend, also good times, lol. Fries + Friends = Good Times :) The fries are crispy on the outside, but soft and creamy on the inside. They are never mealy. They are, however, really really greasy. Ok for an occasional treat, but not frequently. Service is friendly. They only take cash. They are closed on Wednesdays. They are permanently at the Rona parking lot at West Hunt Club and Merivale (close to the Dollarama). Note that there is another chip wagon nearby in the Canadian Tire parking lot called Crispy Chips. They are different chip wagons, and likely rivals/competitors. I have never been to Crispy Chips because my friend always wants to go to TV's Fries, lol.

Yeah, I'm a princess, lol.). Anyway, I finally decided to make a special trip out there and the food was fantastic! I got the Chicken Inasal ($11.25, plus taxes), I asked for no sesame seeds, and that wasn't a problem at all. The chicken was lean, which I really liked, and it was very flavourful. It came with garlic rice and a jicama slaw. The slaw was really creamy, maybe a tad too rich for my liking, but otherwise very good. You could taste the garlic in the garlic rice, but it wasn't overpowering, which is good because no one wants to walk around smelling like a garlic bulb. This dish was delicious, but my only complaint is that I found the portion size a bit small. I was still hungry afterwards and ended up getting a meat pie at Nasser Bakery across the street, and also a cannoli at Farmer's Pick, lol. I dunno, maybe I just have an unusually large appetite, haha. Service was friendly and relatively quick. They are in the parking lot of the plaza at the south west corner of Prince of Wales and Meadowlands. The same plaza as the Shoppers Drug Mart, McDonalds and Baskin Robbins. They are right in front of that garage called Oil Changers. There are 3 picnic tables with umbrellas where you can sit and eat. Free parking in the plaza parking lot. I would love to try other items on their menu and of course have some Halo-Halo again :)

Our…read morelocal Yelp person has thrown down the challenge to try as many of these new food trucks as possible in the next couple of months. So, to that end I thought I would try the one closest to home. Food: While I only tried two dishes here on my first visit, I would say the food is vietnamese-ish due to their ingredients and flavor. I had their lunch combo which allows you one appetizer, one main and a drink for $11 (basically this saves you $1 from getting them separately). My appetizer choice was an egg waffle (see photo) and my main was their Banh Xeo (see photo). The waffle was nice. In terms of taste, think a waffle made out of a fortune cookie batter. The Banh Xeo was nice and tasty as well with the beansprouts and chicken/pork/shrimp filling (that's their 'special' which is $1.50 more). My only issue with the food was that after eating the waffle and my main I was still hungry. Maybe I just had a hungry appetite today but I'll try something different next time to see if I still feel the same. Regretfully, there is a Dairy Queen down Richmond not to far away so, hanging my head in shame, I had a medium blizzard to fill the gap. Location: The 'Chow Down' food truck sits pretty much on the corner of Woodroffe and Byron Avenue. Byron is the street that is just next (south) of Richmond Road. You can park on the side of Byron if you are driving (which most of you will likely be doing since I can't see this area getting much foot traffic). Seating: Today was a sunny day and they had two small tables for seating. Not a lot but at least it is something. Since it is a low traffic area and most people are likely driving, I guess they don't need more. Hours: I'm not sure, but I think they are only open during weekdays and on lunch hours. I don't remember seeing their truck there on the weekend. Other: There's a Shouldice stand right next to the food truck so depending on when you are there, you may be able to grab some strawberries (earlier in the season) or corn (which they had today). Final thoughts: We'll, I liked it enough that I'll go back. Since I try to give my ratings in relation to similar types of establishments (and this is the first food truck I've tried), I'm starting at three stars. Let the food truck challenge continue....

TL;DR/The Short Version: Food truck serving Egyptian street…read morefood. The Koshary was great. The rice pudding was the best rice pudding I've ever had in my life! The Long Version: I learned about Egyptian Corner on Reddit. I do not know of any Egyptian restaurants in Ottawa as of the writing of this review. Once upon a time there was the Pharaoh's House on Rideau, which I tried and liked, but they have long closed down. Then Vardera Cafe and Lounge out in Stittsville served an Egyptian menu on certain days of the week, but I never got the opportunity to try their Egyptian food before they also closed down (their regular menu was great, so I was really disappointed they didn't last). So I was really stoked to hear there was a food truck serving Egyptian street food. The first time I had Koshary was at La Folie du Koshary in Montreal on St Mathieu (it too has closed down) and I loved it! I also had Om Ali for the first time there too. It was 8 years ago and I still dream about that Om Ali. I was hoping to get the same things at Egyptian Corner. They had Koshary, but didn't have Om Ali (bread pudding) but had Roz Bel Laban (rice pudding) instead. Let's just say I am now dreaming about the rice pudding at Egyptian Corner! The Koshary ($8) was a good size and served in a paper bowl. It had pasta (spaghetti, macaroni and ditali), rice, lentils, and chickpeas in a tomato-based sauce and was topped with crispy fried onions. It was so delicious. My husband and I shared it, but I easily could have had my own, lol. It came with 2 sauces in small solo cups, a yellowish garlicky water and a red oily emulsion. I didn't use either because I thought it was tasty as is and I didn't want it oily or too wet. My only complaint is that the Koshary was not hot, it was room temperature. It would have been next level tasty if it was hot. The rice pudding ($5) also came in a paper bowl, albeit a smaller one than the Koshary. This rice pudding is the best rice pudding I've ever had in my life! It was so creamy and not too sweet. It was topped with a scoop of Ashta and sprinkled on top was crispy vermicelli and crispy phyllo pastry pieces. Omg! So tasty. I now have another dessert to haunt dreams. Lol. Luckily the rice pudding was chilled and not room temperature. Service was courteous and quick. The food truck is parked on the Jiffy Lube lot at Bank St and Riverdale Ave. They have a few tables and chairs immediately in front of the food truck if you want to eat on-site. We took it to go and ate it while walking along Bank St. Their menu is small. They have Falafel sandwiches and Fava bean sandwiches in addition to Koshary and the rice pudding. I cannot recommend this place enough! If you like Egyptian rice pudding or Koshary, or want to try it, you need to try Egyptian Corner. Thank you random stranger on Reddit for posting about this new food truck! (169)
