Fortunate is the patient whose physician is Dr. Tad! My good fortune in this regard began seven…read moreyears ago when I moved to Lakeland, Florida. Thirty years ago I was diagnosed with degenerating discs in my neck and lower back. Orthopedic physicians advised me to take pain pills and "not look up" too much--for the rest of my life! Chiropractic care has enabled me to continue my active lifestyle since then, but I wasn't aware of the full benefits of chiropractic medicine until I met Dr. Tad. After a thorough review of my situation, he put me on a weekly visit plan that not only has kept me healthy, but has enabled me to increase my workouts and physical activity--which of course, has improved my overall health. At sixty-four, I bike or swim every day, my blood pressure is 110/70, I take no drugs, and I have never spent a night in a hospital. Dr. Tad has also been a remarkable diagnostician of issues not related to my spine. Once I mentioned to him that after increasing my daily biking mileage, I was having some pain in my left knee. He examined the knee and told me to adjust the height of my bike seat. I did, and the pain disappeared. Recently, I overdid it with some dumbbell exercises, and was experiencing considerable pain on my left side near my shoulder blade. Dr. Tad examined the area, and without me providing him specific details, located the precise points where I was experiencing the pain, applied a few gentle taps with his "activator," and sent me home. Within a day I was pain free. Regular exercise has helped keep me fit. Without Dr. Tad's ability to keep my body balanced and in harmony, I would not be able to exercise daily at my current level. Without that exercise, I would not be as healthy as I am. Without Dr. Tad's help, I would not be as healthy as I am. Dr. Tad is more than my physician and health-adviser. He's my friend. He's always upbeat, is a great conversationalist, and a wonderful listener, who has taught me to listen to my body. A visit to his office is like a visit to your best friend's home. Thanks, Dr. Tad, for your friendship, and for your gift of healing.

The first visit was great. Dr. Palmer is super-knowledgeable about holistic healing, self-care, and…read moreproper supplements. I was looking forward to the next visit. The second visit gave me the opposite feeling of the first one. This time, I made an earlier appointment and was the only person in the waiting area. Score! After being greeted and told that the doctor would see me soon, that was the last interaction I had with anyone there. The two staff members at the front desk busied themselves looking at pictures in one of their phones. At one point, Dr. Palmer came out to ask a question of one of the staff members. He never greeted or acknowledged me. No one seemed interested in engaging with a patient. 15 minutes went by with me still being the only person in the waiting area, and I finally left. I understand that 15 minutes isn't forever in a doctor's office. However, not being acknowledged as a human being or engaged with, or even being offered water (there were several bottles at the front desk, but no indication that I could help myself) -- those details don't make me feel valued as a patient or customer. Other issues that may or may not be a red flag for you: Chiropractic Center of Lakeland has a no-masks-required policy, even though Polk County is getting more COVID-19 cases per day in Summer 2021 than last April when everything was shut down. Staff members don't wear masks, either. A door sign says that you can ask a staff member to wear a mask if you're uncomfortable, but who wants to be that guy? Every other clinical professional in the country is wearing a mask; why should it be on the patient to request that? Another chiropractor I visited takes every patient's temperature. That, and masks on staff, should be a minimum. Maybe not in a retail store or on a roller coaster, but definitely in a clinical environment. The last issue is that some of the treatment at Chiropractic Center of Lakeland is done in a large, open bullpen-style area, meaning more than one person can be getting treatment simultaneously. If you have privacy or modesty concerns, that might be a dealbreaker for you. The dealbreaker for me was an indifferent (to me) staff that doesn't respect my time or go the extra mile during a pandemic.
