Meet the Business Owner: Angela H.

I come from a family of successful entrepreneurial seamstresses. My mother is a tailor in Barrington New Hampshire and my stepmother makes custom window treatments in South Portland Maine. I was in front of a portable Singer sewing machine at the age of 10. As a teenager, I made clothes for myself and my friends. When it came time to raise a family, I wanted to be home with my girls. My husband works a traditional 9-5 job. In the beginning we would do a “high five at 5:00” and I would go to my waitressing job. As our girls got older, I wanted to be more present. We decided it made the most sense that I would sew. I learned how to make slipcovers from Dana Finlay Ben. Dana is arguably the very best seamstress in Southern Maine. She was gracious enough to teach me her skill. In 1999, we took the step to create a work room and incorporate my business. We haven’t looked back. I love creating! Working with fabric, pattern and color feeds my soul.
