On my first visit, I initially came in just to restock my atomizers, as I'd recently bought loads of liquids in NYC. Becoming curious at the selection of made-on-premises liquids, though, I asked Charles what options were available in flavours I enjoyed. Charles took me through the more than 300 "normal" blends they make, and suggested that Chang (who I only found out was one of the owners, along with his wife Rhonda, after the fact) could maybe give me some better advice based on what I was vaping. Chang came out from the back, asked if he could drip a few samples from my liquids, and then led me to some real winners like "Loyal & Royal" and "Dragon's Breath." I kept sampling and picking out flavours until I realized I'd bought over 100ml of juice that I had no intention of when I walked in the door - not a bad first visit.
Now - before I go any further - Velvet Vapor make their juices on demand. You pick a flavour, decide on a nicotine level, what you want your PG/VG skew to be, and if you want any extras like menthol crystals. Absolutely everything is bespoke, and fast. Amazing.
My second visit, I brought a colleague along who has been smoking for decades. Again, I happily found Charles behind the counter, and he took my colleague under his wing. The care and consideration he provided were extraordinary, as he truly wanted to see her stop smoking, and slowly walked her through the entire startup process of vaping. I, of course, went back to sampling every new flavour I could find, and discovered winners like "Phantom Fruit" and "Vanilla Villain", filling up yet another 10-punch card (the completion of which will get you a free 10ml bottle of your choice). After nearly 45 minutes of walking through options, my colleague made the switch, and it's entirely thanks to Charles. Before leaving, I asked if he could look my Janty eVic, as I'd managed to pop off two wires, and he apologized for not having his soldering iron, but that if I came back tomorrow he'd be glad to take care of it for me.
Third visit - I come in and Charles is ready to solder. 5 minutes heating up his tools, 5 minutes stripping wires, and my eVic was back in business. Not shockingly, I was drawn back to sampling new juices again, and left with another 50ml of juice, but I just can't help myself as their products are just that good.
Now - this isn't just a store. The comfortable couches and friendly discourse from the owners and staff actually make this a lounge-like destination. People come in to buy, but they also come in to discuss modding, what new flavours Rhonda is whipping up, and just generally relax for a while. Long story short, if you smoke cigarettes and are curious about switching to e-cigs, come here. If you already vape and are looking for tools or supplies, come here. I hope they stay in business like this for a long time, and I can't wait to be back to help them along with my contribution.
