Astounding. They accommodated to my nut allergy with no problem, and provided me with the absolute best croissants I've ever consumed. Had me singing berries and cream. The london fog latte was the best variation I've ever had-from coast to coast. Chai latte was spicy. Outdoor picnic tables were absolutely perfect. I've been by this place numerous times when in Frankfort and never stopped until yesterday. I have been missing out!! I got a plain croissant and a baklava latte. That croissant teleported me back to Italy, and that baklava latte...I'm so mad I only got the 12oz. Do yourself a favor and get the 16oz or even get 2, it's that good. The staff were friendly, quick to take my order and get everything ready. It's a cute, little place where you can watch them roll the croissants. When we travel, I don't like to wing it--I always do my homework on the best local eats, and Andy's was high on the list. Just a few blocks from Kentucky's state capitol and tucked into a residential neighborhood, it's clearly a local gem. We arrived close to 10:00 on a Thursday morning and I was afraid the selection would be picked over. It was not! But we got there just in time because the regulars started rolling in. They knew exactly what they wanted, so we kept letting them go ahead while we figured it out. I bet it's slammed on the weekends. One side of the bakery is sweet, the other savory. Decisions, decisions. Thankfully, the staff was super patient and offered some great recommendations. We ended up with three sweet and one savory (balance, right?) The morning bun--with a hint of orange--was the surprise favorite, even beating out the cinnamon roll (and my husband loves cinnamon rolls). We also grabbed a chocolate croissant, though I can't speak to it--we were too full to even take a bite. For savory, we went with the cream cheese everything croissant after one of the regulars said it was "solid" and that she was planning to have one for lunch. She wasn't wrong--it was fantastic. OMG I'm in love with this little bakery! I finally made my way there after reading about it for months... and it soooo didn't disappoint. From the delicious aromas wafting out the door as soon as I opened it, to the sweetest staff possible.. this is the bakery to visit. In all honesty, their drinks are much better priced than other fare, but the prices are justified when it comes to taste. I tried: Chai Latte, Iced with brown sugar: 4/5 Peaches n Cream Danish: 3.5/5... the pastry was flaky n right, the peaches in their glaze looked great but the cream/cream cheese/custard left a lot to be desired. It didn't taste like any of the 3 and wasn't even sweet... or sweet enough. Feta cheese and za'atar croissant: 5/5 Chocolate croissant: 4/5 Almond joy croissant: 3/5 .. I'd have preferred a pure almond croissant instead. Sour dough bread round : 4/5... it was a bit on the smaller side especially when compared to the Mennonite's bakery in Manchester who have the BEST sour dough bread in Kentucky! read more

For someone not already familiar with the area, it is important to understand that this place is a block away from the capitol of Kentucky, but it is the only business around. Frankfort is one of the more obscure state capitals, and immediately outside the state house grounds it becomes a residential neighborhood. Apparently at least some of the people who work at this bakery live across the street in this quiet neighborhood. Having said that, even if you walked outside the nation's capitol building in DC, you'd struggle to find anything this good nearby. And I would know. Upon entering, I was captivated by an extensive drink menu. They had a special Kashmiri chai on, and the cardamom infused flavor delivered a long-lasting experience. The spread of baked goods was extensive with both sweet and savory items. Not needing a full loaf of bread, I selected an assortment of pastries to be shared. They had fantastic flavors ranging from the conventional (vanilla custard with chocolate chips) to the unusual (a rye brownie). All of them were mouthwatering, though quite flaky and they did make a bit of a mess. A few other niche pantry items were on sale as well. Sometimes I feel very sad for people with genuine gluten allergies or intolerances. This was one of those times. Any visitors to the governmental institutions of Kentucky would be well advised to check this place out. read more

I traveled out of my way to Andy's based on a referral from a coworker. It smelled heavenly inside and I was very excited to try the pastries. I was not impressed with the breakfast biscuit sandwich. The texture of the biscuit was not flaky and the egg was from a sheet pan of previously scrambled. I really was expecting a nice fresh egg. I also had a croissant and that was very delicious. The one star comes from the fact that the lady that took my order and packaged my food was not wearing gloves. She put gloves on when she prepared the biscuit, but failed to wash her hands before putting them on. Also, they put their whole arm and ungloved hand in the bag that they put my food in. I guess to open the bag, but that is so unsanitary .I do agree that the coffee was very delicious. read more

Andy's is amazing and its apparently no secret because there were tons of people there anxiously awaiting pastries on Saturday morning. Andy arrives at 2:30AM to bake fresh pastries everyday. I love savory treats in the morning & they separate the sweet from savory in the cases so its easy to distinguish. My fave was the spinach and runner up was their best selling cinnamon roll. Absolutely wonderful baked goods. This is not the normal overly sweet fried dough you find in most of Kentucky. This is the perfectly laminated puff pastry found on the side streets of Paris. We had the morning roll, a breakfast sandwich, the everything croissant, pain au chocolat and sourdough bread. Every bite was spectacular. The cherry croissant danish had a perfect amount of cherries every bite was as good as the next. We stumbled upon this gem while visiting Frankfort on a Buffalo Trace whiskey stop. I was made aware of this place by passing it on my way to Cliff Side Diner for a slice of pie. Thankfully, being New Years Eve morning only coconut cream was available. My wife will not eat coconut so I mentioned stopping at Andy's that little bakery we passed on the way. So here's the thing, I normally frequent places suggested by Triple D or other celebrity chef tv shows. But, I have found more and more places that tend to be so much more than just a tv stop. Places like Andy's that remind me of why I enjoy eating on the next level, beyond a foodie, more from the heart than the gut. My wife went inside to get me a coffee and her something to eat, two things stuck out to her and she knew the chocolate croissant was her item of choice. But what she noticed, even more so than her croissant was a cookie that was unique enough to tickle my fancy. She immediately called and asked, "would you want a cornmeal lime cookie"? Yes you read that correctly, cornmeal lime! I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into this unique combination that Andy's presented us with. At first sight, you fall in love with the simplicity of a larger sugar cookie with green speckled frosting. But, the smell, the taste, the mind blowing explosion of the unexpected happens. After much thinking I can only explain it like this, a almost cake like cookie consistency, with a slight crisp edge, with the extra surprise crunch of the cornmeal. It taste like a gourmet sugar cookie with no cornmeal taste that you'd expect. More importantly is the frosting, the amount of lime zest is perfectly proportionate to the sweetness of the icing and cookie. This is not an overly sweet cookie, it's the perfect balance of citrusy goodness. If ever available please do yourself a favor and try one of these cookies. I will 100% return to try some other creations by Andy's on my next visit. Until then, I will try to recreate this cookie on my own. read more

We are unworthy!! A town the size of Frankfort does not deserve a bakery of this quality but I sure am glad they're here. Just read about Andy's on the local news a couple days ago and decided to give it a try this morning. C had a chocolate croissant and I had a regular croissant. They were both divine! A thousand layers of buttery goodness. We also shared a "morning bun" which was basically strips of croissant dough dipped in cinnamon sugar rolled up and ready for a few seconds in the microwave. Just long enough to make the butter I put on it melt. If perchance I die and go to heaven I would expect one of these on my breakfast tray every Wed-Sat morning. We don't have photos. Perhaps next time we can restrain ourselves long enough to think about pictures. read more

Found ourselves in the capitol city and selected Andy's for a takeout stop. I will start with this: I would be willing to drive back here from a long distance just to experience the perfection of these baked goods again. We sampled a few items, notably the morning bun (heavenly flaky chewy roll that I will not soon forget!), a maple glazed bun, a white chocolate cherry scone and a morning glory muffin.
