I was never told to get ultrasounds instead of standard mammograms. And I was definitely never told that implants are not FDA approved. In fact in 2011 at 48yrs old I was told no problems with implants all problems were resolved they were safe! No need to replace I'd be dead before I needed replacement. I developed capsular contracture soon after my first surgery and had to undergo a second surgery less than a year later -- to remove and replace the same implants. I should've stopped right then. My body was warning me. Fast forward: 14 years of unexplained illness, countless doctor visits, and hundreds of thousands of dollars later... I have struggled to breathe out of my nose for the last several years due to a deviated septum…read more This past February I had a medical septoplasty with Dr. Sachin Pawar. Since I was already undergoing anesthesia in order to have a major medical surgery, I decided to have a cosmetic rhinoplasty at the same time. Following the surgery, I went through a long and uncomfortable healing process which necessitated I take time off work. I also payed thousands of dollars to cover costs that my insurance did not. As I began to recover post-op, I was dismayed to realize that my breathing had not improved at all, and my cosmetic concern seemed to have gone unaddressed. Dr. Pawar insisted that my breathing would ease and the results of the rhinoplasty would become apparent as I continued to recover and the swelling went down. Unfortunately, eight months after the procedure there has still been no improvement in terms of breathing or aesthetics. I struggle to understand what exactly Dr. Pawar accomplished in the operating room while I was unconscious. Furthermore, Dr. Pawar has shown no interest in following up with me to examine his own work and perhaps explain why the surgery was unsuccessful. He has offered to re-do the surgery, but I will have to foot the bill for the anesthesia and potentially incur additional costs. Not to mention that Dr. Pawar's initial failure and lack of thoughtful follow-up does not necessarily inspire confidence in his work. In fact, when I went to a different surgeon in order to get an independent follow-up of Dr. Pawar's work, I described how Dr. Pawar kept explaining he would "have to see what he could do" once we were in the operating room and the surgeon was dumbfounded by this. I would recommend saving yourself some time, money and unnecessary pain by going elsewhere for your surgical needs.

Kitt helped guide me in many ways from understanding my goals, to answering any questions that I had, and to keeping in contact with me for the month following my procedure as well as after! I next want to mention Pati! She was the one who went through my pre op appointment with me! She was absolutely wonderful, I can't find words for how kind, caring and amazing she was. She explained everything to me about my procedure, to my medication, to my post op care. Her happy demeanor is contagious and I wouldn't have asked for anyone else! I also want to mention my surgeon, Dr. Gourley! He was absolutely phenomenal if I must say! From my pre op appointment, to my procedure! He answered all of my questions with ease and was very caring. He did an amazing job at making me feel absolutely comfortable during pre op as well as during my procedure. I even got to choose the playlist we listened to, which I thought was the cherry on top!! I saw Dr. Amani Maguid a couple of years ago because two epidermoid/keratinous cysts abruptly…read moreappeared on the right side of my forehead--one midway up its front and one above the temple next to the lateral hairline--and I had also a pre-existing sebaceous cyst just inside the center of my upper hairline. She decided to inject all three of the cysts with cortisone, and when I politely asked her what other treatment modalities were available on the off-chance the cortisone didn't work, she snapped, "The cortisone always works!" Well, it didn't work; and as if that weren't enough, she left a small scar over the epidermoid/keratinous cyst midway up the front of my forehead because she ruptured a blood vessel during injection and did a very poor job suturing shut the resulting aperature. (I then made an appointment with the plastic surgeon who operates out of the same building she does, Dr. Dr. Alex Colque, who was able to remove the cysts with minimal scarring.)

Bottom Line: The initial consultation is not free. Essentially, it costs $100 to sit down with the doctor. Wouldn't go there unless you are ready to commit to treatment otherwise your $100 will just go out the window.
