The Beer festival hosted in the summer months is a great event held in the Summer. The inside is small and cosy, with traditional pub decor, and a bit of a maritime feel, linking in to the Jolly's history as the oldest pub in Porthcawl and home to smugglers in earlier times! There's a beer garden out the back, and plenty of seats and benches out the front. Recently the Jolly's been taken over by new management, but i'm sure the good local atmosphere will remain, and hopefully the sunday night quiz!

The food is freshly cooked, and the portions are huge! Massive servings of everything. For a pub meal in Porthcawl it's hard to beat. There is a restaurant area at the back, and food can also be eaten in the two bar areas. Nice pub atmosphere - but not too rowdy. Definately pleasant for eating and drinking. My top choice for a great value and great tasting pub food in a friendly atmosphere.

The bar is quite old fashioned, and is mainly frequented by locals. There is a pool table, some fruit machines and a quiz on a Sunday night. As far as the food goes it varies. The Globe has had a few different owners/ managers over the last few years, so you never really know if the menu is going to have changed. Even when it does it remains fairly typical pub grub all the usual suspects on offer, at reasonable prices. Good enough but nothing special. There's a big car park, and some outdoor seating but the Globe really cant compare with the other Newton Pubs with their great views and location on the village green.

There are plenty of seats with good views out to the water. The food is reasonable but nothing amazing. Some meal deals make the prices more inviting, but the meal deals are pretty restrictive (eg. a choice of only 2 puddings, both of which are clearly straight out of the freezer). The best place to eat nearby, but it could be better.
