Behind the counter they have a selection of Thornton's chocolates for sale these always make great gifts as the chocolate is such good quality. I find the price for the chocolates really good I think there slightly cheaper then most places. The shop is well laid out with the cards in there categories the shop is fairly easy to move around in and the staff are friendly. This shop is definitely one of the best and cheapest card shops.

Admittedly, most of the items here are a bit frou frou for my taste (I can't really imagine hanging a £600 giant gilded mirror in my flat), but I can see why this place is doing so well: the shop is beautifully laid out, making the most of the available space with warm, inviting product displays. It's like a posh auntie's living room in here. I personally like the vintage signs like "If you want breakfast in bed, sleep in the kitchen", while others will enjoy browsing the range of home accesssories from Wax Lyrical, Cavania, and Cath Kidston. When I walked in, I wasn't acknowledged until I piped up with a "Hi", but I assumed it was because she (Miss Holmes, perhaps?) was busy stocking the shelves. Not much conversation after that, I'm afraid. I'd go back though, if I were gift shopping for a fussy female in my life as there's a fine selection of items here to suit most tastes.

This is the kind of place to really let your inner girly girl go absolutely mental. Fans of Cath Kidson should also stop by before I buy the lot.

I also found an alarming amount of Christmas goods, which is a reminder I just don't need at the moment. People who shop for holiday items this far in advance make me feel inadequate and I just don't appreciate it. Sigh. Anyway, the main draw for me was the extensive range of Yankee Candle products that are housed in their own room off the back of the store. The shelves were quite bare, which is because the autumn range is due in soon, if the sign on the wall is to be believed. I wasn't aware that Yankee Candles varied according to the season! The shop assistant was happy to let me wander the shop at my leisure, making it an enjoyable shopping experience.

Set against the cacophony of one of the world music CDs (taken straight off the shelf), my time in Waterlily was the highlight of my morning, which had been marked by rain, wind and freezing temperatures. The owner had popped out for a few minutes, so her mate was watching the shop, and this chatty lady was talking to me as if she had known me for years. I dug through the gift wrap, and when I failed to find the one I wanted (which was tacked to the wall as a part of a display), she took that one down and rolled it up for me. I'm a sucker for vintage-style goodies, especially when they're on sale. Waterlily is a bit like Polka Dot in Mermaid Quay, but more reasonably priced. I managed to buy two sets of gift wrap (boasting swear words and all!) and five specialty greeting cards for less than £4. I am so coming back here.

On-street parking is reasonable if you go in the afternoon. Otherwise you can park in the free town centre car park and have a 10 minute walk down to the post office which is located opposite the Vale of Glamorgan council offices. And of course there are buses into the town centre too! The main sorting office is just around the corner from this post office too, so everything is in one place.
