    Simit Stand Marks the Spot

I must admit, the presentation is excellent at this restaurant. The setting is "fine dining" and the ingredients seem quality. Overall the dishes are creative. However, the portions are tapas sized, expensive, and not Turkish. The website tells you that this is Turkish food, but, I would call it Turkish inspired modern fusion food. If the restaurant offered complimentary simit, olive oil dip, and classic tea with Turkish Delight... this would be a better experience.

Wow. Eater did not lead us astray on this recommendation. Had the tasting menu for lunch and it was absolutely incredible. Outdoor seating (although mostly with roof cover) and beautiful restaurant space/open kitchen. Service was impeccable. Everything about our meal was ideal. We had the tasting menu for lunch, which offers a chance to sample many of their signature dishes. You just have to do this, unless you come with a large group and have a chance to try many different things. But come hungry if you do. We left 1/3-1/2 of everything served and still left stuffed. It sucks wasting food; the one thing I could criticize is that they really need to work on downsizing their tasting menu portions. The tasting menu included hummus, atom (yogurt dip), and pide as a first course. The hummus was delicious and topped with garbanzos, cured meat, and chili oil. As delicious as the hummus was, the atom was even better - topped with chili flakes, diced mild green pepper, and chili oil, delicious with the pide, lightly oiled and spiced, as well. Next up, the cured salmon dish - prepared with the same method and spices as pastrami - was good but not spectacular. The octopus, on the other hand, most certainly was. It was cooked perfectly and served with fava bean purée and pickled vegetables. Next came the beef cheek dumplings - just ridiculous. So ridiculous. The meat was fall-apart tender and so flavorful, the dumplings were perfectly al dente, and all served with chili oil, yogurt, sumac, and I'm not sure what else. The flavor combination was just out of this world. By the time we got to the main course, we could barely keep eating.. but had to, so we did. The lamb shoulder just fell off the bone and with delicious seasoning and flavor. It was served with the perfect accompaniments of pickled vegetables and spicy couscous. A little of everything in one bite was heaven. The rocket, pickled radish, and feta salad was superb as well. The one dish that fell flat in the whole meal was the eggplant - mushy and bland, we had little need to stray far from the lamb. The perfect meal was rounded off with a beautiful and delicious Turkish pudding topped with plenty of fruit and crunchy meringue, Turkish coffee, and mind blowing baklava that they fly in from Turkey every week. Anyone in Sydney must eat at this place soon, and often.

Highly recommend. I was solo dining and they treated me like a queen, wait staff were attentive and warm and had great recommendations. I have traveled in Turkey and this food really stacks up against the fantastic food there. The hospitality also feels very authentic. Food is wonderful. Ordered the eggplant and octopus, braised for 3 hrs in wine and grilled, served with dill and delightful pickled onion bits. Beautiful plating and setting harborside. My welcoming and friendly host gave me free labneh with calibrian chili dip. That is a Turkish style Apple iced tea with star anise and cinnamon, also recommended by host. Yum. Love this place and coming back. The waiter scolded me for not eating my octopus while still warm. In a wonderful family dinner way, not an annoying way. So cute and welcoming here. And the octopus does taste just as great cold!

An awesome experience of Turkish cuisine with dishes like octopus and calamari improvised from the Turkish Aegean food. Have a chat with the Turkish front house staff and learn more about how they prepare the food. Gaziantep baklava and raki.

The Atom (yogurt) and ciger (liver) is a must! Don't forget to order pide to eat with it.

We went to dinner here for our first night in Sydney and it was incredible!!! My husband is Turkish and he said it was the best Turkish food he has ever eaten outside of Turkey. The staff was so kind and we will definitely be going back before we fly back to California. Make sure to order the Atom (yogurt), pide and ciger (liver).

Amazing!!! The pomegranate cocktail was very refreshing. Some of the best hummus I have ever had. The staff was very friendly and convinced us to try the baklava which was life changing! The original recipe from a Turkish family.

Food was amazing! I've been to Turkey and their dishes are on par to what I had in Turkey, in fact probably better in some cases.

After passing by several choices, we were both happy we made the choice to stop in. While the outside area is hookah oriented, the indoor seating is vibrant and comfortable for a full and proper meal. We stopped in around 8 pm and proceeded to order a mix of items. To begin, we had the three dips (baba, hummus, roasted red pepper hummus) which was the perfect starter given how hungry we both were. Additionally, the V mango mojitos were the right balance and quenches our long walk induced thirst. The fried kibbeh were next, piping hot and delicious. For the entree portion, we shared the large and plentiful lamb shank tagine (broth was solid and the lamb shank was melt in your mouth good) and the chicken shish kebab (the sauce and marination was exceptional). Both were presented very nicely. The chicken was exceptional and the tagine was very flavorful. We ended the night wuite appropriately with some nice, piping hot tea. Overall, the meal was a very memorable part of my Sydney trip - definitely recommend the food, ambiance, and the smooth dinner experience.

They were so enticing, baba ganoush and all, you couldn't stop eating the addictive food! I also really enjoyed the mains, and loved how the meat was brought out on a skewer - it looked a little badass, like a sword skewering the prey! Overall, great place to eat, although the service isn't very polite, and have a tendency to be a little impatient!
