I haven't tried any of the breads or drinks here yet, but I DID have the red velvet cupcake - half last night, half this afternoon, and both times were great!! I think I found my new favorite red velvet cupcake, and that's saying a lot!! I'll admit, it didn't look too promising for some reason, but oh my goodness gracious - delicious! Compared to other bakeries, the red velvet cake itself was not overly greasy but was still moist. It didn't taste like I was eating a thousand calories. It is also not overly sweet, either, which I loved! The frosting came as a surprise, as it was almost barely sweet, and then you get the granules of sugar - it tasted really fresh and pure. YUM. The cakes at Amy's Bread are soooo good. The cake texture is not too airy and not too dense or heavy. It has a fine crumb and so moist and rich. Ah the cheese biscuits are the reason I wanted to try this place. The sandwiches were the things that kept me coming back. My favorites include the NY State Goat Cheese (I never thought I'd say that there's too much goat cheese but there really is), the Black Olive Ficelle with Fresh Mozzarella and the Turkey and Avocado. The only annoying part is that the sandwiches are all displayed in a glass case, with signs haphazardly placed around. The space is incredibly small, so don't be surprised if you see a line outside the shop. That said, the crew always works through the line pretty quickly (and still have time to flash you a smile). read more

Great sweetness, just the right amount of milk but I think the secret is they type of chocolate they use. Very rich and far so the flavor cuts through the rest of the drink rather than being overpowered like I feel chocolate usually is. One of my favorite bakeries in NYC! The people who work there are a bunch of sweethearts! Amy ( the owner) is very humble. We called the bakery to get some idea about sourdough starter, and she was happy to give us some! She sent it for us from her Brooklyn location. We picked up different kinds of breads and pastries. I have been meaning to write a review on Amy's Bread for weeks now . I have gone multiple times . The first time I went I noticed multiple flies literally landing on the bread but not the pastries . So I ordered a pastry which is to the right of where the breads are on the counter and chocked it up to a one time bad situation and convinced myself that those flies never landed on my pastry. Fast forward a couple weeks later , same girl was working the counter and this time more flies were on the breads And pastries . She nonchalantly shooed some away but could notice that I was disgusted . Another woman entered the picture that seemed to be in higher authority but I didn't want to make a stink about it so I just left and planned a yelp review that same day(weeks later) . I mean we are talking about at least five flies . They all had to have turned a blind eye on a very potentially serious health hazard . I would say though that I liked their pistachio twist once when I first ordered it to go but was stale the second time ( ordered later in the evening ). Tells me they likely bake their stuff once a day and let it sit for hours even in the summer months . read more

I knew we were in trouble when we placed our order and our cashier was verbally giving the order to the woman making the lattes. The "barista " was really confused and I just knew it wasn't going to be right. I should've stuck with my gut and moved on. Not just our orders, but a woman who ordered before us was caught up in the confusion as well. When I tried to point out all the confusion to an employee she said "I'm sorry I can't help you -- I just work here". Obviously not a problem solver. To top it off. When we received our order, my husband's latte lid was not fitted and when he sipped it, it spilled . There was no sense in going in to talk to them about it because they simply didn't seem if they would not care of that issue either. Thus this review. The latte wasn't hot. So quality was lacking too. Because of their location this review will not impact their business. They are very busy. I just hope someone in management sees this and encourages the employees to listen and assist. I have been to Amy's twice. The first time I just ordered 2 twist but I don't quite like it. Then I went home and went through its menu and found what they are famous for. The second time I ordered Cinnamon Challah Knots, Roasted Apple Danish, SEMOLINA WITH GOLDEN RAISINS AND FENNEL and whole grain spelt bread. I may not like the smell of semolina so I don't recommend that one though the golden raisins are excellent. Cinnamon Challah Knots is good, with the smell of cinnamon but not too sweet. Roasted Apple Danish also good, the danish itself is not sweet at all, but you can feel the nature butter, and the texture is perfert. the apple is fresh with a little bit tart flavor along with the custard is just right taste. What I really want to try is the whole grain spelt bread. I love the european style bread, everything is nature and I love the texture which comes from the grain itself and the smell of the grain is so great read more

Delicious cakes! I ordered two to celebrate the birthdays of my co-workers - a yellow cake with pink frosting and a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Both were moist and melt-in-your-mouth delicious. One person at the party even commented that they smelled really good. It was very easy for me to special order by phone. Very friendly service. They will write on the cake for you for free and one of the names I gave them has a slightly different spelling so I was relieved when the cakes arrived and both names were spelled right. They do deliver. My 9-inch round cakes cost $50 each and the delivery charge was $15, in total including tip I paid $122, which was well worth it to have these gorgeous cakes delivered to the office. As I was cutting the cakes, the chocolate was crumbling really badly, but the yellow cake was holding up better. Both cakes were adorable and looked very high-end. If you are trying to surprise a special someone or need a really good quality cake, Amy's Bread is a winner, I'd highly recommend them! read more

Because I was only in the city for 1 day I called at 9am to order the 2 things that I wanted and told the person that I would be there at 2pm that day. I reconfirmed my order and I told the guy please make sure that he place my order on the side. He said he would do it right now. Amy's Bread near 47th St. turned out to be a good lunch choice for me. Man, this place is small and busy. But, the staff are friendly and helps quickly move things along. Amy's Bread regularly offers a great selection of traditional items like brie & Roma tomato panini on a baguette, innovative sandwiches like grilled cheddar on whole wheat served with tomato and chipotle sauce. Semolina + golden raisins + fennel = awesome twist! Who would have thought? A range of unique and delicious cookies: orange butter, cornmeal lime, and chocolate. As an amateur baker, I love checking out bakeries and trying their savory and sweet creations. On my first visit to Amy's bread, I was a few minutes early, and decided to walk the neighborhood while I was waiting for them to open. I was a little bummed that they didn't have the pistachio croissants, I had looked up which bakery I wanted to hit up and I saw those in the pics and wanted to try them. But never fear, I got one on my second visit. But before I talk about my 2nd visit in as many days, the first visit, I grabbed a baguette (1/2 size), pain au chocolat, pumpernickel roll, parmesan sourdough twist. They were all great, even the baguette was great without any butter or cheese. On my second visit, I was delighted to see the pistachio croissant. I also grabbed a green olive bread stick, some gingersnaps, and a chocolate sourdough twist. I recommend this bakery to anyone looking for a savory creation or traditional artisan loaf of bread. And their sweeter treats are amazing. They also have coffee which looked like many people were enjoying, but I cannot speak of those myself. read more

I've been coming here regularly for about a year now and wanted to put my thoughts about this place in a review. I love the olive bread it's simply amazing. Great crust, great olives. This is my favorite olive bread in the city so far! I've bought the chocolate cake for my sons birthday and their were no leftovers (was hoping there would be!). Great cake! The prices are fair, the breads and cakes are really good. I also like the iced coffee. Aside from that what keeps me coming back is the service. I don't remember her name, I think she's the manager there, she always greets me with a smile. Friendly service from the people behind the counter. Once I dropped my iced coffee as I walked out the door she saw it happen and gave me a new one no charge. Little things like that make me feel pretty good. read more

My neighborhood bakery for breads and baked goods. I'll have to say i've had much better bread from another Hell's Kitchen bakery in the neighborhood. I'll say the only bread to go with here is the french baguette but even that wouldn't last half a day before going rock hard and stale. Also had the Irish soda bread which really isn't very buttery as it should be. The one item i would go with here though is the delicious is the caramel monkey bread. A nice soft knot of bread with glazed caramel over the top. Also the bottom is crisp from the sugar and caramel. I can eat a whole tray! Must get, must try. A bit cramped and narrow its mostly a take out spot but there are tables in the back for your quick sandwich or soup lunch. read more

A Rosemary sourdough bread stick, which would have been better warm with butter or olive oil on the side. I'd been craving chocolate cake all week, so I turned to Yelp to find a place to have dessert with a friend after our lunch date at a local ramen shop. So I didn't end up getting anything chocolate, but the red velvet cupcake that I got was one of the best I've ever had! I'm not normally a fan of red velvet because it tends to be very sweet, but the red velvet cake at Amy's was extremely light and fluffy. As for the frosting, it wasn't buttercream (or at least I didn't think so), but it was a perfect complement to the cake! It was also very light and not overbearingly sweet. All in all, I would say that it tasted like a really low-guilt treat...but then again, who really knows what goes into these things. Ordered: Mushroom & Spinach quiche (recommended!!), chocolate chip sourdough twist, "everything but the kitchen sink cookie", ham & cheese biscuit (recommended!!), ginger snap cookie, and a coffee. We appreciated how delicious and fresh everything was, including the coffee. I was walking by Amy's and it was packed, so I had to check it out. I think I messed up by ordering the Cinnamon Challah. It was good, but I probably shouldn't have ordered something that was probably sitting out for a while, hence the challah being rather cold. The sticky buns looked great, as well as the blueberry muffins. Service was a bit slow, but I will definitely give this place another try and order something a bit smarter. read more
