I have waited at a few train stations over the years. This one has history and a charm waiting to be restored. I do hope the restoration community is able to raise enough money to restore this old beauty!! The waiting area inside the station itself is large enough but they do need some inside and outside near the tracks itself. The view of the train coming around the bend is welcoming. The staff at the station was helpful to the customers waiting to board and those needing assistance. Johnstown is only a few stops from the last stop in Pittsburgh. Highly recommend the ride well with the small very reasonable ticket price. read more

At this location last night on the 27th as we got off the train coming from new York to the Johnstown station all the staff on the train were great . But when we got off the train the agent at this station was extremely rude . Took her a very long time to get our luggage to us and then she made my wife and children go stand on the sidewalk in the freezing cold of the night while I went to get our vehicle from their parking lot. She couldn't even wait for me to get our vehicle to the front of the building she was very very rude and tossed my sons car seat onto the sidewalk and locked the doors immediately behind us. Very frustrating because we spent good money for my wife and myself and our children to travel to and from New York . Out of our entire journey this lady was very very rude I'm not sure why she even has a job there. I really wish Amtrak would respond to the voice mail I left for someone to call me because that lady should definitely not be in the customer service line of work it's ppl like her that give Amtrak a very bad reputation. I've never been so disrespected in my travels then I was last nite and I hope to speak with Amtrak directly about their extremely rude customer service rep they have at this location read more
