On my recent visit to Cancun, I stayed at Secrets the Vine resort. Amstar had a representative at my hotel that would sign people up for their trip to Chichen-Itza. I was a little nervous because they had low ratings and they were a little more expensive than the other companies I saw online. However, I only had one more day left and I really wanted to go. I was quoted a price of $159, whether I did the full 14 hour trip to Chichen-Itza and Cenote or I did the express 8 hour trip to just Chichen-Itza. I was told they would pick us up right in front at 7:30AM, and that was accurate. We boarded the bus, which had comfortable and we began our voyage. The bus was fully packed and I believe the only extra seat was the one next to us, which was great because it's a long seat and you want to be comfortable. The hosts of the tour, were excellent. They were non-stop working serving and giving us different things from food to information about the Mayan Ruins. You will get a lot of things on the bus snacks, coffee, fruit, alcohol, water, candy, etc. they give you information in both English and Spanish, so nobody felt left out. They do spend a considerable amount of time trying to get you buy souvenirs (Mayan calendars and jewelry) and they did become a bit overwhelming, but it's part of the process. You will get a name tag, which is so you're able to stay with the group once you get to the destination. Our driver, Hugo was a perfect host and made our trip that much more enjoyable. I would recommend this tour and say it was worth every dime.

We went on a fishing excursion with Amstar as part of our UVC Hyatt Dreams Vista membership. I am not one to leave bad reviews but I feel like I need to warn others to not waste your time or money on this trip, just stay at the pool. Here is how our trip went. We met our driver in the lobby at 12:30. Where we were informed it was going to be an hour drive to get to the marina?!? there were multiple marinas around us within walking distance or close driving distance so a little confused as to why we needed to drive an hour. Once we got there, we were charged an additional fee for what they called "trip tax" $60 for 4 people after we already paid $700 for the trip in total. They put us on a small boat inside what I would call the "Barf Box". Completely enclosed wooden area with black couches that moved all over the floor in the choppy waves. We watched our guides troll fish for over two hours before we were even offered the opportunity to fish. They caught nothing and looked at us and just said, "the fishies just aren't hungry." We continued on inside the"Barf Box" where they let us bottom fish for maybe 30-45 minutes. Altogether, what was supposed to be a four hour deep sea fishing trip turned into a 6 1/2 hour sweat box - amusement park of the sea. Spare yourself!

After exiting the airport, look for the Amstar sign/people in the blue floral shirts. The vehicle was clean and with AC. We had two private transfer vehicles for different terminals and different arrival times. One person in our group had a delayed flight so Amstar was able to communicate with one another to ensure they were picked up with the second group from a different terminal. They are promptly at the resort at the assigned pick up time. Amstar was well organized and quick to get you where you need to be.

This man? A liar.

He said the time was an entire different hour which caused missed transportation. Had to Uber. Never admitted to saying a different hour despite several witnesses. Rather than admit fault he walked away. Resort staff and guests helped speed along Uber transportation to airport.

We had a good experience with BD Experience (or "BDExperience"), a business line of Best Day Travel…read moreGroup, based in Cancun. I'm surprised to see an average 2.2-star Yelp rating for this business (137 reviews), at the time of writing this review. Our experience was a solid four stars. Side note: Based on some of the pictures here, I'm also surprised to see that Best Day Travel hosted what appeared to be an official Yelp event back in March 2016. My wife and I booked a vacation package to Grand Velas Riviera Maya resort, located in Playa del Carmen, through Costco Travel. As part of that package, BD Experience was our ground transportation between Cancun International Airport and the resort. The arrival and departure transfers went well. Both ways, we were safely and efficiently transported in nice, air-conditioned, private vans with music. Each way, it was just us and a dedicated driver. Getting from the airport to Grand Velas took about 45 minutes. The return trip from Grand Velas to the airport took less time, about 35 minutes. Upon arrival to Cancun and exiting the airport, it was very easy to spot the BD Experience employees holding Costco Travel signs. There were many BD Experience employees, wearing red shirts, and BD Experience branded vehicles. This appeared to be a popular service with a lot of American customers waiting in groups, clustered near the vans. We waited about 5-10 minutes outside before we were led to a van, our luggage loaded in, and on our way. Going to the resort, we rode in a BD Experience branded van. Going back to the airport, we were picked up in a sleek, luxurious, black Mercedes van. Both drivers were great. One of the drivers spoke very little English while the other spoke good English. Communication with BD Experience was done via WhatsApp. I mostly messaged with BD Experience's business account at +52 998 321 5963. I also messaged with Hugo Figueroa regarding our departure confirmation. I had a pleasant experience with Hugo. We had a good laugh about my WhatsApp profile picture with "Nature Boy" Ric Flair. Woooo! But seriously, everything with BD Experience went smoothly. Pickup times and other details were well communicated in advance. We had no issues. Bring cash to tip your driver. I suggest $5-10 USD each way. Tip more if you have a larger party with lots of luggage. In case we had any issues, Costco Travel gave us the following phone number for BD Experience: +52 998 113 1814. Avoid BD Experience -- Especially If You're Traveling with Kids or Want a Stress-Free Trip…read more We recently traveled to Cancun and booked BD Experience as part of a Travelocity package. I strongly advise avoiding this company if you're traveling with children or simply want a smooth, reliable experience. To confirm your shuttle, you're required to reach out to BD Experience about 24 hours in advance -- but they don't make it easy. You have to contact them through WhatsApp Business, and even then, they redirect you to a different number because the first one supposedly has issues. I followed the instructions and confirmed our arrival. No one ever reached out to me directly. Upon arrival in Cancun, we located their kiosk and were told to wait 30 minutes. Eventually, we -- along with several other groups -- were shuttled to our resorts without issue. The problems began the day before our return flight. I messaged them to confirm our pickup, only to be told that our booking only included a one-way trip to the resort. This was incorrect -- my itinerary clearly showed a round-trip transfer. I even sent them a screenshot as proof. Still, they insisted I contact Travelocity to obtain specific voucher numbers. After wasting time tracking those down, BD Experience finally acknowledged our round-trip booking. I requested a 10:00 AM pickup for our 1:00 PM flight. They refused, saying we had to leave at 9:00 AM because another guest was scheduled at that time and we'd have to share the shuttle. This change effectively cut short our last day -- our kids couldn't even use the pool before leaving. We were ready in the lobby by 8:30 AM. Multiple shuttle drivers arrived and called out guest names, but no one ever called ours. By 9:10, still no driver. I messaged BD Experience -- no reply. Ten more minutes went by. I asked the Hilton staff for help. One kind employee tried calling BD Experience (he speaks Spanish), but they didn't answer. At 10:14 AM, an hour after our scheduled pickup, BD finally responded via WhatsApp saying the driver was there and we weren't -- a complete lie. They didn't even attempt to send another vehicle, just told me to contact Travelocity for a refund. At that point, we were stranded with two small kids and no ride to the airport -- and already late. Thankfully, the Hilton staff stepped up. One of the lobby attendants (guy in a black t-shirt -- please thank him!) called us a taxi, which cost us $60 USD. We barely made it to the airport on time. If I hadn't insisted on leaving early, we might have missed our flight -- with a 3- and 5-year-old in tow. Can you imagine missing your flight, having to rebook last-minute, possibly being separated from your children during seating? Travelocity -- why are you partnering with a company that provides such unreliable service? BD Experience -- you caused us stress, wasted our time, and left us scrambling with young kids. If anyone wants proof, I have the WhatsApp chat log.

I called the hotel and the clerk verified my reservation and the prepayment and even waived the destination charge for me. Perhaps there are some problems, however, I believe in giving good reviews when they are deserved. Except for not receiving a receipt, nor reminder of my purchase (I did receive a couple of emails from Ticketmaster who referred me to PriceTravel urging me to book a room), I am satisfied with the reservation and booking service provided by PriceTravel.

Very disappointing and unprofessional experience. My…read moredaughter made a confirmed hotel reservation through this company a couple of months ago, and they cancelled it without any notice the same day that she was supposed to stay there. I personally called to find out what happened, but it was almost impossible to reach anyone. I called countless times -- sometimes they would just let the phone ring endlessly, other times they would answer and hang up right away. When I finally managed to speak to someone, they put me on hold for more than 25 minutes. The representative who eventually answered couldn't give me a clear explanation or offer any kind of solution. They simply said the offer had sold out, even though we had already received a confirmed booking. The company is completely unreliable, and their customer service is disastrous -- practically nonexistent. The lack of communication, empathy, and professionalism is unacceptable. I would strongly recommend avoiding this company and booking elsewhere. I'm giving one star only because it's not possible to leave a review with zero.

When finding an excursion for Cancun is really difficult. There's so much to do so little time…read more After a couple of days of looking, my Mr found this one from Amigo tours. We booked it on trip advisory. Plus you have to pay Mexican tax, so that's separate from the purchase you made online. It's a two hour drive so make sure you pack alot of water, sunscreen, towels, extra clothes. Please make sure you pay attention to the guides and what they have to say. There are rules. Each destination has a time limit. One more thing, they do pick you up at your hotel depending where you are staying. You go to three places. Here is the itinerary: -Valladolid, a colonial town in the Yucatan Peninsula (1 hour behind) -Sacred Cenote - refreshing, enchanting underground sinkhole, sacred to the Mayan people. -Lunch at Cenote grounds (Restaurant-Buffet style. -Tequila Tasting (Chichikan Tequila) ONLY found at this location. -Chichén Itzá, a UNESCO landmark and an important relic of the Mayan civilization. One of the seven wonders of the world. My favorite was swimming at the Cenote. You are required to purchased a life jacket separately and it's required. You have to shower before you go in. They want to keep the water clean so no sunscreen. Third was the ruins. I absolutely love the history behind it. I forgot about the tequila tasting. It was short but the tequila was so good. They only make it for Chichikan, no other place. I wish we could've had more time at the colonial town of Valladolid. I would've liked to explore more. What a great experience and my Mr and I had a blast. Hats off to Romeo, Juan and Hugo. They were amazing guides. They looked out for us and made sure we were okay. I would highly recommend this trip! It's worth it!

Their vehicle broke down, which I was patient and understanding about. I waited over an hour for pickup, even rearranging my evening plans to accommodate the delay. Despite this, communication was awful -- I asked multiple times for an update and got no clear response. When they finally arrived, they didn't bother to call or text me to say they were outside. Instead, they left without me, after I had been waiting in the hotel lobby the entire time. This was a complete waste of my time and money. I didn't receive the service I paid for, and the poor communication and lack of basic customer service made the situation even worse. Amigo Tours needs to take accountability for how poorly this was handled.
