Compared to the north end, it is much more quiet and peaceful. The beaches on the south end appear to be safer due to the lack of, "Perigo" or danger signs which the north end has. With fewer people on the south beach, you won't have the same number of vendors as the north. The hotel itself is beach themed. It features a small outdoor pool and many indoor and outdoor lounge areas. It is very well maintained and the staff is incredibly friendly. There is food service and an outdoor bar. The rooms are well appointed and very clean. Beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas are available and the staff will gladly set them up for you. There are a few good restaurants in the area. The north end of the beach is a 15-20 minute walk away. There you will find shops, a supermarket and other eating establishments.

It was bland, had been frozen for a long time prior to being served...and was served in one of those teeny tiny little plates. The alcoholic drinks are equally disappointing. You can find much better culinary options anywhere on the island for a fraction of the price. The cappuccinos however, are amazing.

We came here during the off-season, hoping for a nice beach vacation, but unfortunately it was…read moreraining the entire day and we couldn't enjoy the beach. The town is pretty dead during the off-season, as there really isn't much to do here if the weather is not good. We paid a lot for this hotel to be right on the beach, but then we realized that you still couldn't see the beach view from the room, so we probably should have stayed in another hotel a block away from the beach for much cheaper. It was a long and windy bus ride to get here from Sao Paulo, and I got quite carsick by the time we arrived. Breakfast buffet was plentiful, but I wouldn't say it tasted amazing. The bathroom was filled with little bugs that were attracted to the light because there are no screens on the windows. So I was afraid to open the windows to let more bugs in, and everything was damp and steamy because we couldn't dry out the room. One cute thing that we got to see our first afternoon upon arrival--the weather was still okay, so we got to walk along the beach and saw a bunch of cute beach doggies roaming on the sand. Other than that, I wasn't super impressed by this town during our stay. I suppose it could be cool for surfers when everything is not muddy and gloomy. Oh yeah--that's another thing... we had to walk in the mud and puddles from the bus stop to get to the hotel, and the roads aren't really paved and there isn't always a sidewalk. So be prepared for all your luggage and clothes to get really muddy while walking down the street.
