What a fabulous little spot! Located in little Italy on a patio with sunshades... next to a dog park. I did have to pay for street parking and you can smell the dog park.... (hence the 4 stars). But the coffee and service was great! Had a yummy latte with good coffee. The batiste was nice. And so were the patrons who talked the place up while I was in line. Would come back!

CONVENIENCE! (4 Stars) I love how this place is nestled between the big and small Little Italy Dog park. It's kind of hidden and tucked to the side and then they set up an outside section for those at the dog park to order. It's the perfect place to do Saturday Farmers Market shopping, buy pastries, and sit at the little dog park sipping a latte as my dog plays. However the price was bit pricy for taste and quality. Nothing special with my order of "decaf, caramel latte, with whole milk" for a whopping $7. I paid for convenience. Also the drink came piping hot, not even the sleeve protected my hands from feeling the heat.

New Name (was Caffe Caritazza), same cute HIDDEN GEM within Amici Dog Park. Come before their seasonal special, PEPPERMINT MOCHA, disappears! It's the perfect blend of espresso, cocoa, peppermint, and milk! Excellent service (by Matt), quiet tranquil setting under the trees, with sweet & savory treats, drinks, and even Italian goodies to purchase inside this historic house. Truly love everything about this place, except for the hours. They're open Thursday through Sunday, 7am to 2pm. My gripe is that they aren't open in the evenings with string lights and heating lamps, but that's my own selfish side wanting this to feel like my own backyard in the bustling downtown concrete jungle. Please come and keep this non-profit in business!!! It's a haven!

Blood orange lavender tea very light and refreshing. I love how it's just an open space located next to the farmers market service was OK but I'm assuming because they were getting ready to close.p

It's located at the park entrance next to a dog park and a few steps from a Catholic Church. I believe they share parking for mass on sunday. I got the shaken iced coffee and it was absolutely delicious. I believe their proceeds go to to a beneficial organization. The staff were kind and friendly and my drink came out fast! I would highly highly recommend!!

Vanilla latte and a warmed up cheese danish. Coffee is very good and the cheese danish definitely hit the spot.

Very ample and comfortable seating, ambulances nice especially early in the morning. Service is phenomenal, attention to detail with out having to ask is always a nice touch. Best cheese danish it hit the spot and the coffee is extremely good . This is definitely a place for dog enthusiast the fact that it's backed up against the dog park and you can get your cup of coffee as your dog is running around is always a nice thing .

I found this cute coffee shop while walking through Little Italy and have made it a go to spot whenever I'm downtown. Today, I tried the Teaña Colada and the apple strudel. On a 70 degree Saturday, this cold brew tea with two pumps of pineapple and a coconut cold foam was ultra refreshing. It's not super sweet which is great for a person like me that drinks lightly or unsweetened tea on a regular basis. The pineapple is subtle so it definitely has more of a nutty flavor thanks to the coconut. Definitely a drink to grab on the way to the nearby harbor or if you're just looking for a tea drink with a tropical summer taste. The price point is fair flying under or around $12 for a drink and pastry item and the staff are always accommodating and friendly. Shoutout to Diane and Matt! Another plus, is it's next to a dog park and a gift shop so if you love pets and artisan gifts there's even more reason to check them out.

    Great little cozy spot

Very mellow and a great pocket of little italy to just relax in. I will definitely go back in the future during the farmers market.

Friendly staff, conveniently located in the dog park, and great service. Can order while you watch your dog!

Vanilla iced latte. Perfect blend of expresso. Almond milk, they have more options.

Coffee is good + guys at the table are funny so bring your dark humor. Everyone here has their coffee I'm surprised they don't have more reviews. Also there are pastries and tables everywhere. Bring your pup, your laptop + hotspot because this is a perfect work/school environment coffee park, whatever that means lol

Great service and location near the dog park in Little Italy downtown San Diego. Just across from the Bocce courts.

Spill the Beans has completely ruined every other coffee shop for me…read more I'm here every single morning, and there's a reason. The bagels are larger, fluffier, and have this perfect subtle sweetness -- rumor has it they're boiled in agave syrup, and honestly, it shows. The Lox, Stock & Bagel hits different when the bagel itself is this good, and the McLovin is worth every bite too. The rotating selection keeps it fresh enough that I genuinely look forward to switching it up. Then there's the Basic Sitch -- don't let the name fool you. Best Caramel Macchiato I've had anywhere. Period. If you haven't been yet, you're missing out. And if you have, you already know.

Parking is a bit of a pain bit of you are in waking distance or come early enough it shouldn't be an issue. Sometimes they run out of items if you come later in the day. They have a special Bagel of the month, so make sure to ask what it is. They have several bagel flavors, and different flavor cream cheese spreads. I love the habanero bagel, it's one of my favorites, but just be warned it is very hot. Definitely don't eat it without something cold to drink. They also have a breakfast sandwich called the San Diego which is a favorite of several people I know. You chose the bagel you want it with and they add fried eggs, bacon, cheese and aioli. I highly reccomend it. I've not had a lot of their deinis, but i did order the cinna-bee which has honey, cinnamon, espresso and milk. I thought it was good and would order it again. Definitely check them out and try some of their bagels, or perhaps one of their sandwiches.

Finally got to try this cute Japanese cafe we saw on TikTok, and it did not disappoint!…read more Service: [5/5] The two girls who helped us were so sweet and made the whole experience. We were seated at the bar, which ended up being such a vibe--we got to chat with the girl behind the bar and watch her make lattes and desserts right in front of us. That kind of interaction really sets this place apart. Price: [4.5/5] It's on the pricier side, but honestly it feels fair given the quality of food you're getting. You can taste where your money is going. Food/Drinks: [5/5] Matcha Latte -- We shared one, extra sweet at my request, and it was perfect. Exactly what I was hoping for. Chef Soichi's Karaage -- We had this as an appetizer and my boyfriend made a point to say this is the closest he's had to traditional Japanese karaage. High praise from someone who's passionate about his Japanese culture. Hayashi Omurice -- This is their most popular dish and it's easy to see why. The demi-glaze has a really unique flavor that ties the whole dish together beautifully. This was my pick and I'd order it again without hesitation. Guratan -- My boyfriend's order, and it was incredibly creamy and delicious. We were both too stuffed for dessert by the end, which says a lot about the portion sizes. Ambience: [5/5] The restaurant is small, but honestly that's part of what makes it so charming. Pink everywhere with wooden accents and cherry blossoms throughout (very fitting)--it's cozy, homey, and just really well put together. The intimate size adds to the appeal rather than taking away from it. Overall Experience: [5/5] Hatsuzakara was such a wonderful first experience. Yes, we waited about 30 minutes to be seated arriving at 7:30 on a Friday night but for a waitlist-only spot this small, that's actually a pretty reasonable wait by San Diego standards. The food, the atmosphere, and the staff more than made up for it. Already looking forward to coming back to try the curry and work through their dessert menu.

I feel like everything looked really good, so it was hard to decide what to order. The dishes have small portion size despite the price. I think this kinda helps in that you have room to eat dessert! The brown sugar Okinawa tea was good but the after taste of the sugar was not good. They kept the tea pot warm, and they served oat milk on the side. Karaage had too much chicken skin for my preference. Guratan was penne pasta and not macaroni as specified in the menu. Yakisoba could have used more chicken. Omurice had the more flavor and the egg was really good. I want to try naporitan next time because of the tomato based sauce. Of the desserts I tried, the parfait was most enjoyable because of the fruit with ice cream. The mushi pudding was good; it was the thick and "hard" type of flan. I want to try kakigori next time because I saw their shaved ice machine was legit. Parking - free street parking only. Be prepared to walk up/downhill. Credit card/apple pay accepted Bathroom is only one room in the back. THE SEAT IS WARM. This was a nice gem to find in this part of town.
