extremely short staffed on nurses. The nurses they have they are requiring to work an unsafe number of hours.

All around it's terrible from the type of care to office management to the food to personalities of…read morethis staff and to getting any answers. The staff is overworked so the good staff is mostly left and the staff that is left they'd only do half ass job there are lots of times you have to wait from 15 to 2 hours before you can get changed sometimes they get you up sometimes they don't even if you make a request. The therapy well that's up to the insurance and sometimes it's up to the head therapist so you may get therapy for a while you may get it for a long time or you may not get it at all so I suggest you find a place that has male therapist that really want to work with you.. My cousin was in there for a year and when she first arrived it was good but during the year staff left nurses left there were times when there wasn't any nurse there were times when staff walked out and they went through at least three or four cook changes food quality went down. And management change several times. There was even one week that state was in all week including the county. If you just want a place for your loved ones to die this is the place. Also the pictures they have posted up the place doesn't look anything like that some parts are true the boardwalk but the rooms doesn't look like that and the staircase doesn't look like that so they are lying to you on that part. But if you can keep your loved ones at home and take care of them keep them at home. I finally got my cousin out of there and she's in a better facility now and so far she's happy.

Bad except for nurses and physical therapy staff.read more

My mother was taken advantage of by these people. She was looking for a housekeeping service --…read moredeep clean once a month. She is 85 and did not understand what their services were. She signed a contract and wrote a check for $576 as a "down payment". The person who visited her (Sarah Olson, who is no longer with them) had to know Mom didn't understand what she was getting into. According to Mom, Sarah couldn't get out of there fast enough once she had the check in hand. This was in September; no services have been rendered, no phone calls have been made to my mom as of December 30th. I found out about this accidentally in November -- Mom didn't want to tell me -- and I contacted the owner, Aaron Olson. I explained the situation, and told him that while we will probably hire them in the future, we were not yet to that point. He told me he would send me forms to cancel, but they were never forthcoming. Repeated calls resulted in getting the run-around, spearheaded by "Phoenix" in the office, who kept promising to call me back with info but never did. She was in the office but would not take my calls ("May I speak to Phoenix please?" "May I say who's calling? Oh, sorry, she's out.") I finally emailed Aaron and he told me he would refund all but a $300 "administration fee", per the contract. I made it clear that that was unacceptable. It has been 20 days and no check has been received. No services rendered. These people claim to have compassion for the elderly. That is a crock. They could have had a long-term customer in the future had they 1) refunded the money, or 2) showed up and actually did something. They did neither. We are now talking to Home Instead about future help for Mom.

I have personally been here and seen what a wonderful job. This staff does at Sandy's adult care…read more She loves her people she does their hair their nails will sit with them for hours. What I love most about it is that the state comes once a year to make sure that she has everything in line, and if there's something wrong, she has to fix it

First off everyone needs to know THIS IS NOT AN ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY!!! This place is licensed…read moreONLY for Supportive living, and the difference being this facility is NOT regularly inspected. It is only inspected when they apply for the 2 yr license and it is announced!! Also the state does not survey residents about care. The first visit I had with my mother at Sandy's I cried and one of the staff laughed at me saying, "why are you crying." My mom said "I am the sensitive one, very caring and empathetic." It wasn't until the second visit that I became very concerned, I was asking a staff member about Sandy's past, and I was searching the night before on the internet trying to feel more comfortable with my mothers life in her hands. Well I turned around and Sandy is behind me with a snarled face saying, "I don't like you digging into my past, you don't need to see the state papers, I'm a member of St. Peters and I know your father, your just trying to move her out of here and I don't like it." And then the most troubling of things to say to anyone she snapped at me and said, "You better go sit with your mom, she's gonna go fast." Neither Sandy, nor the one staff member (ya, only 2 staff but she claims there's 3) have any compassion or care. I went there 6 or 7 times over the coarse of 3 months and was told at the door, "shes sleeping" all the times were different. There was a medication for my mom who had Alzheimer's that when she would start seeing things or get out of control (which she didn't do, if she was comfortable and in a calm environment) would sedate her and she would sleep for a day. My father visited my mom every other day and he said 3/4th of those times she didn't even know he was there and she didn't speak. Her progression with Alzheimer's was slow and it had only been 2 1/2 to 3 yrs, I just don't see how in 3 months she could go from knowing my name and being coherent to dead. The fact that she was always sleeping scares me to think they kept her doped up! Also in 4 months time my mother lost roughly 40 lbs, their was nothing but skin and bones in her casket! My mother was not sick or ill she was quite healthy, she should not be dead! The fact that Sandy lies and advertises as an Assisted Living Facility, has anything she told my family about her death discredited. And she charges ALF prices, my dad paid out of pocket $3500 a month!!!!! There was obvious neglect here, which troubles me to no end to think about. If you love the person who needs care, DO NOT SEND THEM HERE!!! Also this place is called "Adult Care by Sandy II" , she had another house but it was shut down reasons unknown at this time, but I will find out!
