I would rate NO Stars if I could. Amerigas is the worst company I have dealt with, ever. It took over an hour to get someone on line. Even though I needed service in Joshua Tree, I was always directed to North Carolina! I paid an initial deposit of $69.99 and they said they would give me a 250 gal tank. Upon inspection of my property they said that they could not give me that big of a tank because the house only has a wall heater. I was later called by someone in NC and she said she would get back to me to see if they could get me a smaller tank. I never got that callback. I was told Amerigas would not give me a tank, so I procured another company. But a week later Amerigas came in to install a 250 gal tank that I was told I could not have. I had it cancelled but to date I have not received my return of my initial deposit of $69.99. I have emailed them numerous times with no response and called only to be waiting for over an hour and finally getting disconnected. This is NOT a good company! read more

This is the worst company I ever have been involved in. They take and charge you for everything and show no respect to their costumers. They do not care what you say because let's just say I know. They know how much they are ripping people off and they say they will weed out those customers. I would not give them a one star. Also do not do bottle Exchange you are not really getting the amount you think you are. I switched companies a long time ago and let me tell you way better and they show up. I don't care about Covid if that was the case why has the other companies showed up? Also the Regional Manager will not call anyone back. read more

Amerigas has been a horrible provider since they took over G&K. They came to our house -- in the middle of a severe cold snap -- and filled up the wrong gas tank (despite us being customers for years). We have been without gas for almost a week -- we have three small kids, no heat no hot water; we have been heating the house with space heaters. There is no one to talk to locally so you get sent to a call center. We are exploring switching to hi-desert propane. I do not recommend Amerigas. read more

Have several hundred dollars credit on my acct. A 30 yr customer. On auto refill. Ran ot of propane Sunday. Suspised to deliver today Wed. Had me take day off work as I had to be here. Checked on my status at 10 am. Was told only 2 people ahead of me. Well it 4pm now. The driver must be walking. Just called in again was told they will be here today but could be as late as 9pm. I can't take another day of work and need to go to bed early as I get up at 3am to go to work. Great customer service read more

Amerigas is like a bad nightmare that will not go away.  I received the invoice for my annual Amerilock plan dated 6/4/21.  I was charged a late fee dated 6/27/21...not even 30 days later.  I also received a letter stating I had until mid-July to decide if I wanted to keep the Amerilock plan.  I called on 6/29/21 and stated that I did not wish to keep the Amerilock plan as I was moving.  I was told a request would be put in to remove the charges.  I did not receive another invoice until 8/24/21 and the charges were still there, along with a late fee.  I called again and was again told a request to remove the charges would be put in.  On 8/25/21 I received another invoice with yet another late charge!  Today 8/26/21, I called again and have been told the Amerilock contract charge is still in dispute.  The customer service rep on the phone said even though he can see in all the notes where I did call in time to cancel the contract without a charge there is nothing he can do about it.  Unbelievable! read more

The absolute worst! I'd select zero stars if I could. Recently, we appeared to have NO propane and called. Our tank has one of those monitors that provides the company with info about how full the tank is and was told that our tank was about 70% full (online account said 72%), so it must be something else, perhaps the regulator, and that they would send someone to see what was going on. No one ever called or came so in the late afternoon we called again and were told that we'd get a call back once they figured out what was happening. Still nothing! This morning we called and were told that someone would be out in 5 days!!! We had no heat, no stove, no hot water!!! And there was 3 feet of snow on the ground, temps in the 30s!!! The first person we talked with, Joy in Ohio, was absolutely NO help. We asked to speak with a supervisor and she said that was impossible. So we hung up, called again, got another person, and reported smelling gas. Two technicians - very nice, thorough, and efficient who were finally called by Amerigas the morning after our first call (about 28 hrs had passed) and determined that in fact we had NO GAS!!! We are looking for another provider. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! read more

As a grandfathered customer I can't speak for their propane gas prices and/or scheduled services. My review is based strictly on my experience in getting their tank picked up from a home we purchased. Amerigas has shorter filling hoses than other local propane providers. They also are rumored to have higher gas prices. With those two items combined we decided to switch propane service companies to accommodate our easier fill ups to our tank location and save a little money on fuel. When calling Amerigas to have them pick up their tank I waited over 2 months for a call back. Ultimately, I contacted them again to schedule and explained (again) that the driver must contact me prior to picking up as the house is not occupied and the front gate would be locked thus providing no access for the driver. Amazingly the next day i received a voicemail to schedule an appointment which I returned and confirmed the time. Again explaining the access issue. The appointment was set between 7 - 7:30am. My husband arrived at 7am to open the gate and then continued to wait another 50 minutes for the driver to arrive. During the wait I called the local office to check on the status.........what a surprise..........they're not open that early and was not able to speak to a live human. Now nearly 8am my husband needed to leave for work so I drove to the house to wait. Thankfully the driver was turning in right behind me. What was humorous is the guy must be paid hourly as I've never seen anyone drive so slowly down a dirt road in my life. Many minutes later he finally pulled up. With no more speed than a desert tortoise the tank was loaded and off he drove.............slowly. Overall - I was not thrilled with the customer service. If this is how they run their fill-up service I'm happy with my switch to G&K Propane. read more

This is the worst propane company I have ever dealt with. The manager of the company doesn't know what the word customer service means. A friend of mine also used them once and they didn't come out when they had scheduled the appointment and she ran out of propane. When they finally came out they found different things they could charge her for. They are not dependable and their prices are not cheap. I will never buy from this company again under any circumstances. read more

I AM SO ANGRY! My new bill is rated @ $4.52 a gallon (highest I've ever paid) Called G & K to discuss and explained this is why I left Amerigas (nationwide company) for price gougeing. Because they can! Called competitor who offered me a one-time low rate of $2.15/gal. I asked what does existing customers pay right now, today and she quoted between $3.00 and $4.00 per gallon depending on the customer. Amerigas and G & K have merged companies so I'm guessing good 'ol G&K is no more and has picked up the gougeing tactics of Amerigas. When asking for price per gallon, no one will give you a straight answer (depends on if you are new, existing and who you are) CHECK your bills people! read more

I just moved from 29 palms and we had socal gas. So we had to get Amerigas in JT. I got the number from my landlord and they told me to just call and have them put everything in our names since it is already up and running. I called and the lady was the rudest person I EVER spoke to. The landlords had told me the tank is at 75% now and that is ours moving in, once we move out we must put it back to 75%. So in turn we end up evening out the 'free' 75% we moved in with. Well I tried to explain it to this to the lady on the phone, the landlords said they never dealt with her before either, and she was just awful to me. Telling me not to touch the stove since that gas is NOT mine and I need to pay for it before I use it. So I contact the landlords to make sure I understood what they told me. I call back and I said, "Hello, I just called and talked to someone and i confirmed with the landlords the situation and they said just to put the gas in my name" she said "uh ya, I just talked to you, that is not your gas and you have to pay for it." in a rude tone. So I just told her the landlords would be contacting her. They told me she wasn't to rude with them and they figured it out for me since this is how they have always handled the gas. Also the gas has been up and running for 5 days now and the amerigas guy is here and has been for an hour. not sure what the heck he could be doing since everything has been working just fine. He also was peeing in my yard, I have a bathroom he could have used. read more
