The reason I am sending Human Resources and management Personnel this disturbing e-mail is in reference of the Ethical Misconduct of the Collections Department pertaining to supervisors Sarah Esteves & Betsy Hixson, I have noted documentation.
On the first days of Training (week of 8/28/08), Sarah constantly referred to Amerigas propane customers as "Hillbillies", "Trailer Trash" & "Deadbeat Rednecks" constantly throughout my training. She showed most absolutely no sensitivity what so ever and did not care if it bothered me or not. Sarah also told me not to engage in too much conversation with Alana (co-worker) because in Sarah's words "She talks, bitches, and complains too much". In my opinion, she is not mentally fit to be a Supervisor.
On August 5th, 2008, I was summoned to a meeting with Sarah, Betsy, & Tobi for an attendance incident that was misunderstood. As that part of the meeting concluded, Sarah had advised me on and I quote her words "I don't want to sound like a snitch, but I have received negative feedback on your training". When I specifically asked her what it pertain to, her reply was..."I don't know, you came off cocky or over-confident" I asked her, Did I insult someone? Sarah said "No."I asked her, Did I say anything rude? Sarah said "No."I asked her, Did I do anything unprofessional that was a detriment to my training? Sarah said "No." Tobi Descott said that she and "other" co-workers had a problem with me standing & stretching at times. I don't understand why she was in the meeting in the first place because she isn't a supervisor or team leader, just a top collections clerk for whatever value that has.
On August 11th, 2008 Tobi DeScott, Physically walked to almost all of the desks in the department to ask if they wanted to order food at a particular restaurant, she didn't bother to ask me and two other people in the department, The significance of documenting this incident is to show the "clickyness" , "discriminatory" & "self-aggrandizing" behavior and culture going on in the Collections Department at Amerigas in Westlake, Ohio.
On August 16th, 2008 Betsy Hixson along with co-workers were talking about former employees and openly discussing on why they were terminated, how they dressed, ect; For Examples...Betsy & co-workers discussed a former employee being fired for looking and setting up their Myspace page, and discussed a former employee being fired for not showing up on Saturdays for getting drunk on Friday nights. I overheard a conversation pertaining to my work area that "a lot of people have been fired where Clark sits at". I don't want to snitch on what co-workers that was involved in the conversations, Unlike Sarah was "Snitching". But you can ask Betsy who they were, because they were at work along with me Saturday 8/16/08. Betsy was smiling and was participating in the banter, she even made critical opinions of former employees terminations and was "reluctantly enthusiastic" about discussing it. I did not at any time participate in these unprofessional conversations.
In My Opinion, Because of her bad judgment in a managerial position, and her poor lack of proper hygiene, she is not fit to be Night Supervisor. In Closing, I pushed myself very hard to learn the job as quickly as possible, I was a professional and had no problems performing collection duties. Be it as it may, I feel the collections department in Westlake, Ohio must stop the "high school" mentality, the back-biting and clickyness. Stop the culture of pre-judging people before you get to know the character of them. It's not always the new employee that's the problem, It's the good 'ole boy, high school, clicky, "I am better that you" behavior that has manifested by the supervisors in that department.
Until something is done about it, Good People will be terminated indiscriminately simply because "they don't fit with us", and that is wrong. Sarah, Betsy and especially Tobeonka should attend sensitivity training so this type of unethical, disappointing misconduct doesn't happen to anyone else. Thank You.
Working at this so called "company" is miserable and depressing. if you are desperate for a job, just watch yourself there. I give this place -10 starts for it's bullying, demagogue, and extremely disrespectful working environment. read more
