Yikes. I'll not trust the reviews so completely. This highest-ranked nail place out of 5 in my neighborhood is no $ establishment. My pedicurist wouldn't let me chose the basic pedicure, chiding me until I okayed some tropical salt rub which was the only redeeming quality of the pedicure. 50% more. To say I was hussled is understatement. I tried my best to get her to cut off the pointed edges of nails and to trim the cuticle back (she did on 3 of 10). I kept touching the points and only heard "It short enough!" I should have walked out. I should have left no tip, but the nice guy in me stayed, paid and tipped a conventional amount. Reclined on my laZboy, my wife took 8 minutes to make the pedicure the quality job I paid for. If you'd like to repeat this story, American Nails is your kind of place. I won't be returning and will say discouraging things about the place when ever the topic of pedicures comes up. read more

I called to see about reserving additional nail technicians to accommodate myself and my 7 bridesmaids as well as 2 flower girls and they said no problem without hesitation! They had additional nail technicians work that day to help us keep to the timeline we shared, they put balloons on my chair, brought me flowers, and were so speedy! It was amazing accommodations. Not to mention, my ombré SNS nails are still in tact THREE WEEKS LATER! I've even gotten compliments on how good they still look. These are the best SNS nails I've had. I went in for SNS nail and they tore my old SNS nails off before soaking my nails, which is not to be done because it rips the nail and SNS is supposed to be a healthy route for nails. On top of that the SNS broke off more than twice and I went once to get them fixed and the second time they were closed for the weekend.When I asked for some type of refund they said they couldn't do anything about it. Not sure why this place is rated so highly on Google but maybe I just got a poor tech. I meant to get my nails toes and brows done but after a pedicure from Kim, I left before she could finish. She immediately rushed from the start and I felt she wasnt taking her time compared to the other people I saw around. She hacked off my toe nail and then tried to turn it around on me saying I said I wanted them cut down. Cut down, not hacked unevenly and at an awkward angle. I didn't appreciate the attitude or smart tone. And maybe this is the way of the shop but she painted my toes before even doing the pedicure and claimed that's how it was and kept overexplaining to try to dodge the question. However, the girl next to me had hers done the traditional way. After a sloppy paint job and no regard to the edges of my nails, and me commenting on it, she claimed she already knew and would clean it up after but why not just do a good job the first time? I got up, paid $20 and left. As I was leaving she tried to act like she didn't understand and told the manager i'm guessing that that's what i wanted and they all pretended to be oblivious to how poor of a job she was doing. Julie and Christina and Kim and Hannah were so wonderful. They took lots of time and didn't make us feel rushed at all. Our SNS and gel look like perfection. I've only gotten pedicures and eyebrows! I tried to not leave this review and I've been to this location 3 times in hopes that the service would get better! first and foremost - I hate nail salons that take forever to serve "certain" customers! Every single time I've had to wait for long periods of time to be serviced even when there were several employee walking around talking, laughing or eating! The pedicures feel rushed once you sit in the chair and there was still dead skin on my feet afterwards. I only get white on my toes and a few days later the paint was chipped and dull looking but when I go other places they at least look fresh for a few weeks! & that was my last time getting a pedi there. I found a decent wax lady in Julie even though she takes her time and never rushes to get you in and out....Today was my final straw I can during hours where they may have even 3 or 4 customers present. I asked for eyebrows, specifically for Julie, and they lead me in the back to the eyebrow room - I opened the door an employee was chillin laid back on her phone lol I then sit there for a few minutes just for them to come tell me that I had to wait for Julie because she was eating. huh?? I was like what? Since when did it become okay to make paying customers wait on you to eat some food?! My lil desperate self sat there and waited well over 5 mins and I just got up and left - no one said a word or tried to apologize! When I came a few months ago, this salon was managed by two women. They worked at Station 1 and 2 did the best nails. I came back a couple of times and they we're not there. The other associates are not as good. They don't leave your feet completely smooth. They cut you or file your nail bed down to low. I found out today that those two ladies moved to Lawrenceville. Overall very happy with my experience. I got SNS manicure and a pedicure. My manicure looks amazing. My pedicure was great but I just noticed my left big toe is all messed up from my shoes. After my pedicure I sat through my manicure and the technician checked to make sure they were dry, and with the amount of time I waited they should have been. The ruined nail's polish is still sticky. Leads me to think it's just old polish that needs to be tossed. Unfortunately I don't have time to go back and see if they would fix it for me. read more

I had the most AMAZING experience at this wonderful nail salon today. I came in about 30 minutes before they closed, and I got the most amazing pedicure of my entire life. It didn't feel rushed, at all. They didn't try to get me out of there, I was treated well!! I got the "organic" pedicure, it was $30. When I sat down the chairs were awesome. The lady who helped me, told me that I had ingrown toenails and got them out for me, and instructed me next time I have one, to please come back. As much as it hurt to get them out, it was so kind that she did this for me. She even put neosporn on and made sure I was comfortable. I'm always warmly greeted and, though I'm sporadic with mani/pedi stuff, the college-age girl often up front ALWAYS remembers me and details we've discussed during previous visits. I absolutely love this place, it's the only nail salon in Athens where I have consistently great experiences! I never wait for long at all, they have a huge selection of gel polishes to choose from, and they always make sure you're comfortable! Additionally my gel manicures are always perfect, they actually paint all the way to the cuticle (many other salons don't - I'm guessing so you'll have to come back sooner when they begin to grow out) and always last for at least 3 weeks if not longer. I was a college athlete, and i work at a vet around many different chemicals that would normally eat away at nail polish. That being said in SIX years I've RARELY had any issues with my nails! I just moved to the area and have been looking for my go to salon. This was the second place I've tried and my search is over! I was immediately greeted upon entering and was told there would be a short wait for my fill-in. The wait was maybe 5 minutes and Julie came and got me settled at her station. We chatted a bit about the current set I had on and my concerns and what I really wanted out of my salon experience. After deciding to go a different route than the fill-in I came in for, she handed me a basket of over 500 gel nail color options! While I was looking she went and got a hot rice bag and placed it around my shoulders. Then she got started with my nails. Everything about my experience here was amazing. I normally go to TA Nails which is just a few feet from American Nails, but today I decided to try this salon out. Upon entering the salon I was immediately greeted. There was just one other customer in the salon already being serviced so there was no wait time for me. After taking my time selecting my polish color Michael (my technician) began on my acrylic full set ($23). The color selection was great! Many OPI & China Glaze polishes to choose from in an assortment of colors. I will say that the furniture is a bit old/worn out. There are 6 nail stations all accompanied by black leather office chairs (black duck tape was on mine, covering a tear in the leather) and 8 spa pedicure stations with massaging chairs. There is just one sink with hand towels for drying in the rear of the salon. From what I observed, the staff seemed friendly & the other customers seemed pleased as well. I never felt rushed or as if Michael was rushing to get the job done which was comforting! He did a great job on my nails & I plan on returning for a fill-in and a possible spa pedicure. read more

This was my first time at this salon. I was satisfied with my full set of pink and white. Although $48 seems pricey compared to other salons I've been to, I didn't mind paying for it because the man did a good job. My pedicure was another story. It lasted 7 minutes (yes, I timed it because I've had rushed experiences before). My feet did not have time to soak, she did not scrub them with the pumice rock, and I left with dead skin on the bottom of my feet. I paid $22 to have lotion rubbed on my legs and get my toes painted. I felt it was rushed because 5 people came in asking for a pedicure at the time I arrived. This place is absolutely disgusting and provides terrible service. First, the facility was very hot and humid with an odor. Flies were landing on the nail equipment and supplies. In addition, they used a "community" water bowl to soak the nails. They dump the water, but don't wash it out before re-filling it and using the same bowl for another person. This promotes germs and fungus and is simply unacceptable and not on-par with any service I've received at nail salons in the Athens-area. Second, they bounced clients around from person to person without washing their hands or wearing (and changing) gloves. I started with Technician #1 who filed my nails and then got up to go to a pedicure on another person. Technician #2 sat down and then re-filed my nails even though I told her the other person had already done it. Then she gets up and Technician #3 comes over to paint my nails. He starts, then messes up, removes the polish and starts over. He puts a clear coat on my nails and then files them again. I politely told him I would just need to leave the clear and no additional paint because I had to get back to work. I spent an hour and half here and they filed my nails down into the quick, put on some clear polish, and then charged me the full $30 for a service they didn't even complete. I asked Technician #3 if I was really being charged the full cost of a manicure for service I did not receive and he said "yes because the other manicure is $33" and offered no recourse. I was already late getting back to work from lunch (I work less than 2 miles away) and did not have the additional time to argue. My nails were filed down so short they hurt, I'm out $30 for a manicure I did not receive and I'm so disgusted by the lack on cleanliness of American Nails that I will not even be going back to have them fix the issue at hand. I will be a patron of Lily Nails by La Parilla in Watkinsville from here on out! read more
