If you want to see what library professionals think of the American Library Association just look at the ALA's membership statistics on their website: ALA membership has fallen every year since 2008 and is now at its lowest point since 1992. Some librarians feel that their state library associations are more responsive than the ALA and cost less money, and others don't like some of ALA's political stances that do nothing to further the profession, a profession which is in crisis.
