The…read moreservice was 2 years to the day of her passing, with the delay due to my Mom's donation of her body to the University of Iowa Med School and the subsequent return of her ashes when she had completed her donation. Thanks to my friend Craig, a room for the family was reserved at the VFW, and we were able to order sandwiches and such from the menu. The bar was open too! We all enjoyed our family time, which of course included Mom stories that should never have been told in public. :) The VFW is not a fancy place, nor is the food "gourmet", but for the time and place, it was one of the best places to be.
