They conduct ceremonies for significant dates in history at the Veterans Memorial in Show Low. They work with the local Girl Scouts. They give huge food baskets to needy families during the holidays. They have a bunch of really great people, ok and a few others.

Although i am a member of the American legion. here's my story about VFW 9022 in Showlow Az. I have come to enjoy going there for a beer and playing pool with the members. On this particular Sunday they have pool tournaments. I am an american legion member and was permitted to play. However I was playing a VFW member and he questioned one of my shots. So I asked him if he want to shoot and I'll sit down. He got off hand s chair and came over and got in my face saying very unkind things. I was beside myself so of coarse I started yelling back for him to sit down or shoot. His sister was bartending at the time and I an up to me say shit up or get out. So I did. Of coarse I bet him and the next time I stopped for a beer a couple days late. the manager(which wasn't there) ran up to me and said I was no longer welcome there. Because of the yelling match over a stupid pool game. So I asked what about him, he started it. He answer was he a member and you're just a guest. I would not recommend that VFW to any member or AL member they treat you like your lucky to be in here.
