After empty promises and unmet deadlines, we realized we were initially ripped for $11,520. This man has a reputation that is beyond horrific. We came to realize this after meeting several people who were also ripped off by Don Steinke, one of them being a Parker police officer, another being the person that did our dirt work for the barn, and the third was an attorney who knew all too well of Don and his tainted reputation as a con-man. We finally got our barn built from a legitimate company which delayed our project by 6 months. He lied to us from start to finish. When we realized after our consultation with the attorney in Elizabeth that he was basically judgement proof, we we were advised to pursue getting our money back thru the DA's office and Elbert County Sheriff as it was considered criminal theft as well as a civil suit. After 7 agonizing months of this man holding our money hostage 'due to Covid' which is BS & doesn't explain all the other people he screwed over the last decade or more, and much correspondence with the DA's offce and sheriff who's involvement essentially scared Don into at first, a partial refund, where he wrote paid in full on the check for $5,400 trying to weasel out of the rest of his $6,120 debt to us, we miraculously got our money back. We may have been the only ones who were successful at recouping our money as most pursed a civil suit. Cudos to the attorney who told us to go after him on criminal theft charges instead of suing him, which would have been costly and ineffective. This man knows how to work the system and has a concrete guy name Manuel Garcia, who is his partner in crime and does the worst work you could imagine. He overcharged us for a terrible shop floor job and it looks hideous. Steer clear of this man as well. There are many horror stories and reviews about Steinke and I can assure you they are all true and all very similar. He is a crook through and through and he knows it. He tried to get my husband to sign something stating he would say nothing bad about his lousy company before handing him the final check. I am the person who's $10,000 hard earned money he stole, plus another $1,520 from my husband. I refuse to bow down to his request to hide the POS that he is. I am doing this to help someone else not be violated by this man and his lack of integrity. Be smart. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS CROOK. The reviews are all true no matter what kind of BS he tries to convince you of, like he did to us.
