Well to start, I had been wanting to refinance my mortgage for years. I hadn't the first idea of who to go to and what to do. I 'm not ashamed to say that I didn't have the esteem or the know how to do it all by myself. I reviewed numerous companies on line with negative results about most experiences with direct lender mortgaging. There seemed to be especially bad results with my favorite bank whom I wanted to deal with - USAA. Feeling down on my options and luck to refinance, a friend of mine at work knew of my situation while he was dealing with American Finance on his current home purchase. He recommended Pat Gillen to me. I am a very skeptical and weary person especially when it comes to companies and processes that I am not familiar with. But the numbers and steps seemed to make sense that it would be easy enough and I just went for it. So I gave Pat a call. He was very cordial and helpful straight from the start. Not that awkward overly enthusiastically fake cordial either. He knew what he could do and knew it would not be difficult and started the approval process for a new VA loan that day. From day one to closing was roughly 2 weeks. We closed even lower than the original good-faith estimates came in at the first appointment. My favorite part of the process was Pat would call to check on us and make sure we were taken care of. At closing Pat emailed me the final HUD forms and numbers before the closer came over, then called me and discussed them over the phone so that I didn't have any questions or surprises at closing. I knew before we closed what every last number was and how it came out to be that. I really appreciated that gesture from Pat. Very nice final touch! That's just the thing though we were taken care of by him and explained each step of the whole process. I know this review sounds like a to good to be true experience, but it really was. I am so glad that I gave Pat a call. Me and my wife had been paying way to high a monthly mortgage payment for almost 9 years now. Finally we can enjoy a lower payment, with a better mortgage company than what we had. Are previous mortgage had been sold 3 times in 9 years. The last company was a horror to deal with. Pat got us what I felt was a great interest rate and worked with the VA loan, especially when it came to the aspects of my VA disability benefit! Thank you Pat Gillen again for all your hard work and dedication remediating our situation and making it a better one for us! I will definitely be using American Financing again in the future for a new home purchase and especially will be looking for Pat Gillen to do it. He was so nice, understanding and helpful not too. I've worked with American Financing on four separate occasions in the last four years, and so far, every time has been fantastic. My first was a refinance from FHA to a conventional loan with Curtis Brannan. My wife and I were able to get rid of our mortgage insurance, consolidate debt, lower our interest rate (to 5.25%), and lower our monthly payment a bit. The process took about three weeks start to finish, and they came to our house to do the closing, which took about 30 minutes. Another year went by and the interest rates had fallen and our credit rating had improved enough to seriously consider refinancing again (around 4.5%), so I called Curtis and we decided it was worth going through the process again. It was easier this time since they had a lot of my previous information still on file. We had to wait a bit for the appraisal to be completed, but otherwise it went smooth as silk and we started saving even more money than before. In 2016, with the market at record lows, we refinanced again, just above 3.5%, with Casey Schwartzkopf and now have payments below a thousand a month for our home. We've used the extra funds to pay down other lingering debts (home improvements, loans, etc.). This year, we contacted them for a completely different reason. My wife and I were looking at getting pre-approval so we could begin shopping for an investment home and put some of our previous savings to good use. In the last two weeks, I've worked with Brian Barker, who was able to get me a verbal authorization within a day of getting all of our updated documents in, and I received a pre-approval letter a few days later. We've discussed multiple loan types (15, 20, 30 year conventionals) with various down payment options (5, 10, and 20% down) allowing us to find properties to maximize our investment. Overall, I've not had any difficulties of reservations with American Financing over the last four years. They were able to work with our unique credit situation, guide us on ways to improve our credit (up from 620 to over 760 now), and helped us get the best loan for our situation at the best rate possible. I mentioned the main people I was working with, but they were assisted by Audrey, Melonie, Adriana, Ayesha, Jordan, Karla, and Charles during our various adventures. This is the first (and likely only) review I've ever written. It was time to re-finance and quite honestly I dreaded the idea!! I heard an ad on the radio and it was promoted by someone I listen to on the radio. I believe this person to be genuine so I went with his recommendation. I called and was connected with Tim. He went through the entire rehearsed sales pitch and assured me that American Financing would beat anyone's price. He also told me that he didn't work on commission. I didn't fully believe him so called two other companies (one of which was the BIG Mortgage Company on all the commercials). As to be expected, they all assured me that they'd beat each others prices. Once we got past all of the sales pitches and promises it was time to see who was telling the truth. Not only did Tim/AF keep their word they also took it one step further and did something they didn't have to do. When my credit report was pulled apparently there was missing information. The quote I'd received from all of the lenders were quotes based on inaccurate information. I literally found this out two days before closing. Tim (not working on commission) could have easily said, "Sorry, nothing I can do" or worse yet, " Sorry, we're going to have to raise your fee/interest rate". Instead, Tim went to bat for me and called the next week letting me know that AF was going to go ahead and keep everything the way it was. In today's world of GIANT companies that are only interested in VOLUME and could care less about the INDIVIDUAL it was extremely refreshing to have found a company that really did care. This is a very large amount of money for most people and the difference between percentage points can literally have an effect on people's lives!! I am truly shocked about the negative reviews for American Financing. We did a refinance in year 2014 with Jeff and it happened as advertised on the radio; we closed in 10 days and the whole process was seamless. Now, my husband retired and so, I felt the need to refinance the mortgage one last time and we had the pleasure of working with Gabriel M. Rubalcava who is new to American Financing. If he hadn't told me that he was new, I would have never known that because he was friendly, knowledgeable, and very professional. He was patient when answering all my questions and let me tell you, I am that person who will question something until I understand and is satisfied with the answer. Then without thinking, I scheduled the appraiser to come out earlier than what I was ready for; wanted to have the house organized for those permanent pictures in our loan file and so, I called Gabriel to tell him that I should reschedule. He convinced me to keep the appointment and of course, I worked a few days into the wee hours of the morning to make sure every room was organized and I am ever so thankful, because I amazed myself for what I accomplished and we were one step closer to closing the loan. Shortly thereafter, a gentleman from the title company came to our house for us to sign all the papers and roughly 20 minutes later, the deal was done. We have received our checks in the mail as promised and again, I am still in awe how quickly and efficiently American Financing handled the process and this time, Gabriel gets to have all the credit. Late one night I was listening to a radio program and heard their commercial. Tired of dealing with the big banks as I have done in the past, it sounded like a good idea to give American Financing a try. Best decision I've made in a long time! From the very first few minutes of my conversation with their Mortgage Consultant, I knew that this was a customer-service oriented company. We discussed my particular situation in depth, which did present a challenge, and she was able to come up with a plan that would enable me to meet my goals. During the usual process where the borrower needs to send over all sorts of paperwork and financial statements, and then of course the underwriting process, both my Mortgage Consultant contact and the Loan Processor assigned to my application kept me up to date on the progress and any particular issues that the underwriter needed addressed. When my Mortgage Consultant contact went on vacation for a week or so, nobody over there dropped the ball.. A manager stepped right in and helped keep everything moving along.I have NEVER worked with such a well coordinated team - and I've done this more than a few times over the past 30 years! Their team is simply the BEST I have ever encountered. American Financing will be my "go-to" company next time around. read more

After watching the John Elway ads for American Financing on Chanel 9 for the last several months and hearing that they worked with veterans I decided to contact them as my husband and I are both retired Army. We kept getting all these letters about special veteran loans and decided to find out more information. I Googled them and found out that they were open at 3:00 pm on a Sunday afternoon. I did an online chat and a few minutes later the person I was communicating with called to find out more info. She transferred me to Doug Longoria who asked questions to gather information. He said he would get back with us shortly after he checked a few things. A short time later he called and gave us the preliminary numbers for the refinance. Within the hour of my first online chat he had emailed us the loan offer, disclosures and all the forms we needed to review and sign to start the refinance process. My experience in working with Tony Wesson at American Financing was nothing short of ideal. I had never refinanced my mortgage before and I felt nervous about the process. Tony was so informative and took his time explaining all of my options and answering all of my questions. Originally I wanted to refinance to get rid of the PMI and get a lower rate. Tony ran several scenarios and discovered that I could save a lot if I used some equity to pay off some debt. I had not considered being out of credit card debt until Tony explained different financing scenarios. Now I am free of credit card debt and my mortgage has no PMI, I have a lower interest rate, and my mortgage will be paid off in 15 years rather than my previous 30 year mortgage. It feels amazing! Tony was always super responsive.....calling me back immediately when I had questions. I always was made aware of where we were in the process. 10.26.16 Just completed refinancing our home mortgage through American Financing. All in all, it proved to be a wonderful experience! Our Mortgage Consultant, Humberto Gomez, was fantastic to work with. He was highly responsive, lived up to every commitment he made in a timely fashion, ALWAYS fulfilled his promises with timely returned phone calls, guided us through the normal maze of paperwork and provided exceptional service! We were referred to Humberto and American Financing by a coworker of my wife. That individual had recently completed a mortgage refinance and was flowing with praise about the experience with Humberto and A/F. We quickly learned that Humberto seemingly works 24/7 as he made himself available to us at all hours of the day and night as well as on weekends. He even arranged to enable us to close on the loan out of state where we were vacationing with family...an unbelievable convenience! Our only disappointment in the whole process was not being able to meet Humberto personally, to be able to express our appreciation for his exceptional spirit of service and good humor throughout the transaction. My goal was to have this refinance completed in 4 weeks and it funded 3 days shy of 4 weeks. This is not my "first rodeo" with home loans/refinance, so my expectation of my Loan Manager, even though he was good to work with, was a little aggressive, for which he struggled to meet. However, once I was beyond the submission of documents, which was only a couple of days, I was assigned to an amazing Processor, Brenda Gallegos, who more than exceeded my expectations in performance and responding to my questions. Brenda always responded to my emails within an hour or so, which required coordinating between their different departments, as well as, ordering the property appraisal, with amazing speed. She provided truly remarkable service. Now, we were just waiting the three day rescinding period. At day four, no funding detected via the website and there were only two hours left in the window for sending wires. To no surprise, I emailed my Loan Manager and Brenda. Brenda followed up with their Funding Department, responded back to me within 30 minutes, the loan funded to the Title Company, they recorded and wired all necessary funds out of the closing proceeds, and all within 1.5 hours. We had the complete opposite experience as the other negative reviews. Maybe it's all in relation to which mortgage consultant you get. We applied on-line, received a phone call that same day, and met with our mortgage consultant, Sherron Lewis, the next day. We live in Fort Collins and American Financing is in Aurora. Sherron met us more than halfway in Longmont. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. We had been approved for a refi by 3 banks prior to working with American Financing. All three experiences with the banks were negative and included hidden fees. Sherron explained every detail of the refi process so there wouldn't be any surprises. We were able to close in 2 weeks from the date that we met with Sherron. They provided a traveling notary that came to our house for the closing. It was extremely convenient for us. When the notary arrived she too was very professional and went over the same information Sherron had done with us. There were no surprises and the numbers were the same that Sherron had provided. We had no hiccups and were extremely pleased with Sherron's professionalism. If someone has had a negative experience with American Financing then they weren't working with Sherron Lewis. read more

I was looking to refinance and heard about American Financing on 105.9 Alice. Not knowing who to trust when it came to refinancing, I decided to talk with Sherron Lewis to understand the process. After speaking with Sherron, I was comfortable with going through the qualifying. He was up front about trying to get the best rate and didn't make any promises and neither did I. I provided all the documentation on the first visit, which was nice because it was at my home and at my time. I was in familiar territory and didn't feel any pressure. When it came time to close, I was traveling. Sherron was willing to make arrangements in another state if I wanted to close before my next mortgage payment. That saved me an additional $600. I am probably in a better situation than most, so I am not saying everyone is going to have a great experience like I did. But if you want a team that will do everything they can to find the best lender and best rates, I recommend Sherron Lewis at American Finance in Aurora by Cherry Creek reservoir. I know, I know, what was my rate. 3..5%. I bought 6 years ago @6.5% and was thinking about moving, but decided to stay,so finally decided to refi last November. Saving $7200 a year. From start to finish, it took about a month to get American Financing Corporation to finally close my refinancing loan. Christopher Tannler was my refinancing consultant. I appreciated his professionalism and his various kinds of communication with me. What I really liked was the fact that Chris did not assume my background knowledge of the refinancing loan process. He patiently took his time with me to explain and clarify some of the concepts that were fuzzy to me. Chris and I stayed in constant communication throughout the entire process. He was responsive, and he kept me informed every step of the way through phone calls, emails, and by fax. With Chris' help, I am able to reduce my monthly mortgage payment and save some money. I have a jumbo loan with an adjustable rate, and I am able to refinance the loan to a 30 year fixed mortage. From the first contact I had with Ruben Del Valle it was a positive experience. I heard about American Financing while listening to the Glenn Beck Show and everything Glenn said about them is 100% TRUE! Carolyn Hollingsworth was our consultant and she was absolutely AWESOME! She made us feel like we were their only customers, like family! When hurricane Florence was barreling towards us in Fayetteville, NC, she called to check on us and was genuinely concerned. She was with us every step of the way. I'm a disabled, combat veteran with PTSD and sometimes tend to get overly anxious under stress. Happy customers! We are just about to close on our third refinance with American Financing. For each of these, we have worked closely with Allanie Muhaydean (Al) and Alicia Zelandonii. They are extremely knowledgeable, helpful and caring individuals, who both do their jobs extremely well. I appreciate that this company does not work on commission. There have been times that I would call Al and ask if I should refinance at a particular time. He would look at the numbers and give me honest advice. There have been times that he did not recommend proceeding with a refinance. I have also had friends contact him, and he would advise against a refinance, or suggest that they wait until they had more equity in their homes. This tells me that this company is not in it for the money. They truly care about the consumer and advise them in the best way possible. Another aspect about American Financing that I love is that everything is done electronically. As my husband and I are extremely busy with our jobs, it would be difficult to meet in person. Would/will definitely use again! Not sure why there are so many poor reviews here (although there are only a total of 16 reviews listed at this time). As with your lender search, please look around and check the 369 Google Reviews which are much more recent and average 4.6 stars, or Zillow with 296 reviews averaging 5 stars. For us, Karim Lababidi was most helpful and a pleasure to work with. He was always on top of things and guided us through the lending process very smoothly. His rule of estimating on the safe side made us very comfortable and our actual final closing costs a pleasant surprise. The effort and support put forth by this company (and Karim, in particular) even to the day of closing has stood out as exceptional. Fast closing with accurate and complete documentation at closing which all seemed to impress the title agent. We will be back when ready to refinance, for sure. Again, please check other reviews on other sites, the ones here are minimal and it seems odd that of the 16 listed, most are only 1 star. The 665 total reviews between Google and Zillow average 4.8 stars and seem much more accurate and reliable. read more

Paul Fergonise helped me refinance my home at a good rate, consolidate my debt, and get rid of my 2nd mortgage in a very timely and efficient manner. He was very easy to communicate with and always replied to me in a very efficient manner, keeping me abreast of every step of the re-fi process. I closed in less than 30 days, the paperwork was error free, and every deadline was met in a timely fashion. All closing figures were quite accurate, and it was a low stress experience the entire process. The final closing process was accomplished in about an hour in the comfort of my own home, as the title company had all paperwork in time, and the loan was funded in plenty of time. AF was recommended to me by my neighbor and friend, who is a financial advisor, and I called him recently to let him know that I was very pleased with this re-finance process and my agent Paul. Whew!!! It was was a whirlwind but I am pleased and am now able to breathe financially until I am ready to sell and downsize in the future. DON'T Trust these A--holes! They completely lie through their teeth. We were jerked around for 60 days on our refinance and were completely bamboozled into the corner when their "3rd" party agent comes to your home who cannot answer questions. Oh! that is a small detail they do not tell you when they try to make you think they are "making it convenient for you". We were promised, as well as signed paperwork to that effect, that we would not be paying closing costs. Our consultant suddenly was out of the country and could not resolve the issue. Also, this is probably a place that caters to the low rent type of people as you can see from all the bimbo employees parading their unprofessionally dressed bodies around the office. I received all kinds of emails that were written by someone who obviously did not understand or communicate the English language very well. I would give these guys a total zero, but the review rating does not go that low. This outfit should not be in business. I am telling everyone I know about this scum bag business and to not go here!
