I have purchased and refinanced a lot of properties in my life, this was by far the worst experience ever. I started around August 27...2020...yes, 2020. I got them everything on time, their communication was horrible. I got messages from an assistant every week saying things were moving along and they had everything they needed...she didn't look. I was stupid for dragging it along as long as I did, they screwed up numbers for my rental income and never asked for documentation of it, then told me I didn't qualify for a home I have 50% LTV. Getting all the information is a pain, starting over sounded as painful, thought maybe in January when I started over they could manage it. Nope...closed August 2nd...did get an amazing rate, but what a nightmare and couldn't recommend them EVER! Structurally and operationally they are a total mess and failure. I initiated everything. You should consider another company...this was terrible and cost me a ton of money because if I would have been smart and started over I could have cut my rate 1% 6 to 9 months earlier and saved $5k already. read more

I wish I would have done more due diligence and read all of the very poor reviews before trusting that a GB advertiser would be a reputable one. In my life I have been through a dozen home purchases and at least 8 RE FI's, This by far was the worst most unprofessional experience ever. The intake and initial paperwork process is fast but then due to their volume of new applicants they ghost you for months. Most VM's are so full you cannot leave a message. You will hear from them for a month or 2 regularly then at least in my case they stopped all communication for several months. After being told that I had strong credit and income they come up with a poor credit score excuse out of thin air to deny me the re fi loan. I called several managers over a 4 month period with no results of where I stood. Basically a waste of massive amounts of paper work time and 4 months of beings ghosted with no communication. Then a non personal email of denial. I am writing a letter to Glenn Beck to ensure he is aware of the sub par review scores and service overall with my experience. As with the multitudes of 1 star reviews, they do not deserve even 1 Star. THEY DESERVE ZERO STARS. DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH before wasting 5 months of your life with this sub standard organization. Thankfully, now working with a local mortgage broker / lender and well on my way to a closing date with daily communication on status. read more

I kept listening to the endorsement for this company through a local radio station, who highly recommended them so I decided to do a pre-qualification online. Filled out application to pre-qualify to purchase a home. I got 3 calls from 3 different people to contact? When I did call back one of the numbers, a different person other than the person who left me a message answered? He then said he'd connect me to someone in my area in which I reside. The person I spoke to said the individual who I'm supposed to be talking to is busy at the moment,so she proceeded to ask a few questions than we scheduled an appointment for me to the next day with the "actual" person who will help me. Keep in mind that I'm under the impression that this is all part of the pre-qualification process, and I do know that they will have to pull my credit but it should be a soft inquiry not a hard inquiry cause I'm not applying for a mortgage yet, I'm looking into my options first. WRONG..... I get a alert early the next morning before my scheduled appointment that there's been a hard inquiry on my credit report for a mortgage loan???!!! First off, I wasn't applying for a mortgage loan I was doing a pre-qualification to see what options I have. Secondly, my phone appointment lasted all of "2" minutes literally.... For someone to tell me basically what my credit score was and for them to assist me in any way I would need to bring my credit score up! Now, don't you think I already know what my credit is before I called? He didn't even sound as if he was interested in helping me at all or give me any suggestions other than "bring your credit score up than we can help you"So basically there was NO pre-qualification process done, you did a hard inquiry on my credit score only to tell me what I already know (which will stay on my report for 2 years now) for doing "SQUAT"!!!! I had a great experience with American Financing doing our re-fi. It did take longer than we thought because of the schedules of the appraiser and the closer, but it was still done in under a month. Jay S. and Alicia Z. took care of us. Alicia responded to my emails usually within 24 hours. Jay even called me on a Sunday because the closing date was rescheduled that he attempted to get for us. We got the loan we wanted to help us get out of credit card debt while still keeping our house payment in a range we can afford and less than what we were paying for house and cards previously combined. We didn't have any issues with our application process. The only downside I saw was my boss complained that they were hounding him for the income information a day after asking for it. But to me that's a plus. They were on top of it. If you are expecting a 10 day process, this is not for you but I don't know any finance company who can actually get this done in 10 days with so many variables involved on both customer and company sides. read more

Six weeks of jumping through hoops for a refi. Was told we would skip 2 payments, LIE, was told we would get over $400 back on the loan, LIE. Was told our closing would be done at our house, LIE. Had two hours notice to get to their office 40 miles away to close. We did a refi to lower payment & skip a couple months to pay off some bills. Now we are wondering what the point of this was, it sure wasn't to pay them & get screwed in the process. read more

Buyer beware!! Do not and I repeat do not every go through this company!!! I had the worst experience with this company and everyone I've come into contact with whom have purchased and financed through this company have all complained. My experience started with one the most incompetent person I've ever done business with. He never sent my paper work over to get me approved until my Realtor went over his head and spoke to his supervisor. This person never informed me of any class I was supposed to take prior to closing on my condo. Mind you, I owned a home years ago and sold due to moving out of state. I moved back and rented until I could finally afford to purchase again. I was told I qualified for two different amounts. The lower amount would allow me to keep my son's car under my name since I co-signed and the higher amount meant I'd have to sell, refinance and put his car under his name. I of course went with the lower end and found a great place. At the 11th hour the loan officer at American Financing told me I had to take this course which I had to pay out of pocket and due on line all within a few hours. He also asked me if I sold the car to my response was "No, I went for the lower loan". Needless to say in order to close on my loan and move into the condo which by the way the owner had already vacated; I had to take my SUV in and trade for another car with a lower monthly payment!!! Who advises anyone to do this when you are closing on a home!!??? The closing costs were then more than I anticipated which AF had to pay a portion of after my realtor fought with them over this chaos!! A year has past since I've moved into the condo. I love my neighborhood and couldn't be happier with my place. I get a letter in the mail from my insurance and was told American Financing never set up escrow for my condo insurance!! OMG!! I bought my first house through American financing and it went very smoothly. After owning my home for about two years I decided to refinance through American financing. That was a big mistake! The refinance took longer than what it took me to buy the house . It wasn't a good experience at all! It would go up to about a week with no one keeping me up to date about how the refinance was going. When the day came to refinance I scheduled it to be at 8 am and no one showed up and I did not receive any call until about 9:30am saying they weren't going to make it . So I had to reschedule for 7 pm that same day and the person was running late again. The person did not show up at my house until 7:30pm . Next I was told I would not have to pay a mortgage payment for two months but was charged a mortgage payment after I was told everything was done ! I am very disappointed with how bad the refinance went ! read more

Refinancing is stressful and you feel vulnerable providing so much personal information to complete strangers. Every time I called the office I spoke with a professional who put my mind at ease. Our personal Loan Officer was Don Rentie. He spoke very quickly and casually, which actually alleviated some of my fears since it seemed as though he could do it in his sleep he was so familiar with the process. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because he was a little overworked at the time and would forget to call/show when he was supposed to. In his defense, he was very busy with the new FHA rules coming into place at the end of March 2013 and everyone trying to get refinanced before that deadline. Even so, he still got our loan in under the gun and in time. The longer the process went on, the better he got about feedback. This company was courteous and quick, and we got a great rate. Just completed refinancing our home yesterday with American Financing and it couldn't have been a smoother or better experience. We worked with Jennifer the whole time and she couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Total time from inquiry to closing was approximately 2 weeks and it was easy and painless, so I'm not sure what all the bad reviews are about. The longest wait during the whole process was waiting for the appraisal (which came in higher than AF even predicted it would), and after that, it was quick and smooth sailing to closing. First time home buyer here... i delt with some great people. "BUT" i have delt with more people that dont know more than your local bank cashier. I would say the "whole salery" deal is a down fall if you want to close in a timing matter. As colorado is a mad house for land. -terry robertson- is lazy and mixes up loans with others -jason stats- is a used car sales person that clams the situation down -the front desk doesnt know if someone is working or not -neither your loan officer or manager will call back after multiple voice mails -realtors have to double check everyones numbers before closing -double, triple check anything you are told from this office. As they work off of a large number of clients -get ready for 3-5 calls before an answer that someone isnt in the office -prepare for 3X the same documents as they ask for. AS THEY GET LOST -re finance ASAP. From this group! -I WILL NEVER USE OR RECOMMED them to anyone read more

As with other Yelp reviews, they are not through and you can not get a quote without filling out an entire application and having your credit reviewed. Not super customer oriented either and did not listen to what the applicant wants and needs, which causes errors on back end. You can find same service with cheaper closing rates on line. read more

Have now used them twice, for a purchase and then a refi. We had few issues on the purchase, considering how stressful that whole process can be. Our guy, Nick M. on the refi - it was pretty seamless. We would have liked to close earlier than we did but all in all it was pretty painless. Nick was good about keeping in contact with us and letting us know what was going on. I do think that it depends on who you get, but we would definitely use American Financing again. read more

American Financing called me 2 weeks later, after all the paper work was signed and the deal was done to more further explain the situation and to rectify the issue. American financing has a few issues that need to be fixed. . Organization being the biggest! Dealt with a few reps while trying to re finance my home. I was getting ready to give up and and find some other financial institute to square me away in my VA re finance. But then Nicolas Parsons stepped in. He went far and beyond to make sure that my experience was a lot better than what I had dealt with American. He still calls up and checks on how everything is going. I went with this company as they advertised they did bank statement loans. I am self employed and this is how I bought my house 18 years ago. Everything was great in the beginning but it began to unravel pretty quick. Everytime I supplied the documents requested, the investor they were selling the loan to changed it up. I had a closing date end of nov as these types of loans require far less documentation. First contacted them Nov 1 2018 and didn't close until mid January. Closing costs were not what was stated. At closing I received 4k less then I was supposed to and when I asked about it they said thats all I qualified for even though just 3 weeks before that all was fine with the amount. Loan was very expensive for the amount I pulled out. I did find out that they had never worked with that investor before. No one knew how to handle this type of loan. I was passed around to several different people. Not a great experience. read more

This is the worst mortgage company on the planet, I wouldn't even given them one star. I have been trying to refi for over 2 months, still don't have an appraisal back yet and it has been a month and a half since it was assigned. I keep getting told they can't be rushed. I don't know why you would do business with an appraisal company that takes this long and and is not efficient. I finally asked to call the appraisal company, I was told you need to handle them with kid gloves because you don't want to make them mad because they can file a complaint and say it was because they didn't give a high enough appraisal. How is that possible I don't have anything back yet. And they've been emailing the wrong appraisal company trying to get it back for the last 6 days. They are horrible at communicating. I'm waiting for certain docs to be able to close I get called at the last minute told that we need this right away, "why didn't you tell me weeks ago while we've been waiting for the appraisal". Days will go by and I haven't heard a thing. Anyone I talk to can close in less than 30 days. Seriously, "the appraisers are swamped in this market". I think this is a line that I'm getting fed. I love how they only put the good testimonials on their website. Buyer Beware, go with a different company. I'll be writing a strongly worded letter to BBB also. read more

I'm so disappointed in this organization and apparently I'm not the only one. I contacted them about a refi and was contacted in a very timely manner. The "approval" was very quick and all that was left was the appraisal. We have had multiple appraisals done over the years with no issues whatsoever. The guy that came out to do the appraisal told us "hey, you might need to reinforce the railing on the deck before you can close". No problem, we said. After waiting for over a week and sending follow-up messages to our rep at AF, we finally get a response saying "the deck is an issue, but I'm working very hard to find out your options and will get back to you by the end of the week". Then....crickets...radio silence....nothing. After three more follow-up messages, I finally get a response from our rep (it's been two weeks now since the appraisal) saying that he "double-checked with the appraisal dept." (he never even communicated that he had checked with them once with a negative result!) and he said the only way we could get any sort of loan at all is if we completely TEAR DOWN our deck! It was on the house when we bought it and it was there when the person who sold us the house bought it. We repaired parts that had rotted and it's a sturdy deck, except for the one railing, which we said we had NO problem reinforcing. The rep actually had the nerve to ask us if we wanted to move forward by tearing down our 825 sf deck, which is one of the primary reasons we purchased the house originally!!! He wasted our time by not responding to us and not being up front when he knew that the appraiser absolutely ruined any chance of us getting the refinance. As I mentioned earlier, we've had a number of appraisals done over the years and the deck has been there the whole time -- no issues....ever. Please think twice before you do business with this company or any of the appraisers that they engage to do appraisals for them. Because of their horrible customer service, we are now stuck with starting over with a new company and have no idea whether what they did will negatively affect our chances of refinancing. read more

After hearing American Financing advertise for years on virtually every Clear Channel station I decided to give them a shot with my last home purchase. They advertise that they do underwriting in the state but they work with lenders that are out of state. I was told I had a "hard pre-approval" which they advertise allows them to close in 2 weeks. Due to the seller needing to find a new home the closing date was actually set for 6 weeks out after I had a "hard pre-approval." So I called my broker and asked if anything was needed and he assured me everything was ready and they didn't need anything else from me. Then 1 week before the closing date which was on a Monday, I checked with him again. Again I was told that nothing else is needed from me. The Friday before my closing I got a call from the broker and was told that I still need to get them my home insurance information. Of course my insurance broker was out that Friday and I told them that. I was then told I'd need to use an insurance broker that they work with closely or I would lose my $2500 earnest money. Really? I was immediately turned off. I got my insurance broker to work on her day off and get American Financing the information they needed. Monday, the closing date, arrives and I get a call 30 minutes before I'm supposed to leave work for the closing and am told by American Financing that not only are they not going to be able to close but they wouldn't be able to do the FHA loan that I was "hard pre-approved" for. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT! I would not trust this company nor ever recommend them to my worst enemy. read more

I was looking for a specific loan product a HELOC loan and told the customer service person this from the begining.I was assured they did have this so I gave them all my info and was called back later that day with a closer wanting to close on arefi of a 1st mortgage.Again I told this person what I wanted and was told they dont offer that product which is fine . It would be nice if the 1st customer service person might have a clue as to the products they provide. Also a couple dqys later I received 2 letters of denying credit .They didnt have the product how can you deny credit if you do not have thie product. read more

(EDIT: Why didnt I check Yelp first, SMH!) So, I see that others had a similar experience as well. I shouldve went with my gut when I got that feeling about this place and ended up being right. I was unsure from the get go and "Clint" didnt help to make me feel confident about my first time home buying experience at all. His knowledge and responses to me felt rigid and unhelpful. I dont remember giving anyone permission to check my credit initially but I let that one go because before I knew it they had me pre-approved for a FHA Loan. I kept asking him about first time homebuyer programs but all he would tell me is they are higher interest than what I was getting and "to look it up myself". I received no opt out disclosures from them for sharing my nonpublic information with an affiliate to approve the loan. I also did not receive a disclosure that they referred me to their other affiliate company on the realty end. I do believe that those are violations of mortgage law. I was actually starting to feel more comfortable after the face to face meeting I had with the realtor Luke. He was very knowledgeable and we found out from him that we had started our search too soon and need to wait till March as we are in a lease till May that has steep penalties we cannot afford and also cannot afford a double payment. I had advised Clint of this fact but he failed to mention it to Luke. So, I told Luke we would call back in March. 3 days later I get a call from Tina who has no inkling about my situation but offering her realtor services because "Justin" was no longer with the company. What? Who's Justin? I immediately text Luke asking if he is still with the company and receive no reply. What a joke! They dropped the ball big time! When the left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing, its time to run! I asked them not to contact me any further. Theyve probably already sold my information to the highest bidder. I will go with someone else. Buying a home for the first time is too important to put up with too many variables and quirks. From my understanding Luke was not there too long before our meeting. He probably saw the way things were there and decided to run himself. read more

I tried to go thru American Financing in May 2014. They scheduled me an appointment during the week in the evening with a loan officer. Got there and waited 30 minutes then to be told the loan officer I was scheduled with was not there. Met with someone else. Took about another hour for them to copy paper work. Then never received a call to be approved. I had to call several times and leave several messages for someone to get back to me. Then when they did reach me they didn't qualify me for much. Then my credits was excellent but they didn't qualify me for much. I went with different lender. Poor customer service is what I got. Would not recommend them to anyone. read more
