I have seen him for a number of years and found him to be just okay (not real pleasant but perfectly competent), but for practical reasons I did not switch providers. The last time I was in, to get a new prescription for contact lenses, ended in unbelievable hostility from Dr. Dieckow. In addition to needing more contact lenses I had a small problem with occasional tearing (not painful or itchy and so no big deal). I had mentioned it to my regular physician and he thought it was a blocked tear duct. He was not concerned. So I told Dr. Dieckow, he told me he thought it was the same thing and he then took out small sharp metal objects and poked at my tear ducts, confirming the blocked tear duct. He told me I needed surgery and when I asked if it would be as bad as what he just did, he said worse, and chastised me, telling me he had barely touched me. I told him that if I had to choose between occasional tearing and the surgery I didn't mind the tearing. He was mad and I told him that all I needed was my contact prescription. Instead of giving it to me, he told me that he could not fit me for contacts if I had any excess tears. At that point I had been there almost two hours and was obviously unhappy that he was using his power over me to punish me for not accepting his recommended treatment and said, so you are telling me I need to find another doctor. At that point, he went out into the lobby where his workers were (but no patients) and starting yelling "She thinks she is the doctor. I can't treat her!" At that point, I had two big problems, I had used up my eye care insurance and I was running out of contact lenses. Luckily, I thought to ask for a print-out of all the tests I had had and their results. So then I still needed a new contact lens script. After calling all around, I found a provider who would take me the next day. They were incredibly kind and, since I was able to give them the printed records, they were able to do a shorter exam and fit me for contacts. As I had suspected, Dr. Dieckow's telling me that he could not fit me for contacts because of excess tears was total nonsense. The real reason was to punish me for preferring occasional excess tears to his proposed surgery. To add insult to injury, Dr. Dieckow's office refused to just send the electronic records to the new provider, telling them that it would take 30 days. There is a big sign on the front door of Precision Eye Care saying "We are accepting new patients." No wonder that they need new patients if they treat their current patients this way.

So disappointed! My husband had his eye exam there and they gave us a prescription. We took it to…read moreanother eyeglass place to get glasses. He got sunglasses, also. When he got them, they did not help him see any better. He went back to the eyeglass place and told them and they gave him back his money for both pair. ($400+) He went back to Precision and told them what happened. They examined his eyes again and this time he got the glasses at Precision. When he got the glasses in they did not work any better. He can see better with his old pair which he got at another optometrist 2 years ago. When he went in and told them, all they would do is give him another pair of glasses. Since he had already had them examine him twice, and neither they nor another eyeglass place had luck with their scrip, he told them to keep the glasses since they didn't do him any good and left. We are out over $300. Neither of us will ever use them again.
