He was very nice and went over every detail and answered all of my questions. Afterward he took us to see the storage unit. I reserved a spacious 5x15. I was able to get the July special where rent is half off for 2 months. So far, I have had zero issues getting in or out of gated storage area. Being able to come and go is great. I dropped in to American Eagle Self Storage this past weekend to see about leasing space to store some items belonging to my deceased brother while we arrange for their ultimate disposal. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Brice was very helpful and aided me in getting what I needed at a great price. The location is great, the facilities are clean and secure, all units are on the ground floor, and the hours are acceptable. They have rules, but they are very reasonable, and Brice explained everything quite well and didn't take up a ton of my time to do it. I'm very pleased. read more

I have trusted my storage needs here for well over a decade, as I own some valuables that I cannot keep at my residence, after having been badly ripped off in the past when I was not insured. Since then, they have improved the property with more security, and better paved roads. Ruby and staff are always helpful and accommodating when I needed extra consideration. I am a non driver. I have to use Onthe Go. It's for the elderly that don't have much money. I finally got someone to help me down size. But we are not allowed to use the dumpsters anymore. There is no way I am able to dispose of stuff. If I can not use the dumpsters there. The lady I just talked to. Talked over me. So I felt I wasn't getting anywhere with her. The new hours under new management has been a hinder. It's been inconvenient and being unable to get to my storage when I could like I did with the last management when I'm not working 8-5 is not helping. I have to keep putting off storage time and not being able to get to my unit has been frustrating and making me look for another place that has hours that is thoughtful of those who work 8-5 even on Saturdays and maybe only have sundays off but can't get to storage now too. I would want to pay where I can access my unit when I can and could and being considered of. read more

We've been customers of American Eagle Self-Storage for more than 20 years. The office staff was always polite, communicative, and helpful; perfect for this type of business. Sadly, the employees retired en masse and the new staff hasn't been always polite, has communicated inadequately - sometimes not at all amid other miscommunications - and hasn't been helpful. Couple of examples. 1) Mandate of new locks required. Letter stated new disc locks needed to be in place by 7/1. Ours was changed without notice in March, more than 3 months early. 2) Wife was locked out of the rental unit that she'd paid on monthly more than 250 times. Turns out, the new staff didn't recognize my wife, she wasn't on the original lease because she was at home watching our 3 toddlers when I initially reserved the unit, and I had to leave work to sign her in on the day in question. On top of that, the staff was either unwilling or unable to add her to the agreement. 3) I was given an informational contact form to update my contact information because one "wasn't on file." I found this curious because A) Both my wife and I had emailed them when securing a second rental space last fall, and B) office staff had called me on both the house and mobile numbers within the last month. I still don't fully comprehend how they claim they couldn't contact me about the lock change when I had provided them all of this information less than 6 months ago while renting the 2nd storage unit. Anyway, the information sheet the business gave me to complete had full contact information for TWO people. I asked if I could provide my info as contact #1 and add my wife's contact info for space #2. The response I received. "No. That second space is if the primary renter has more than two contact numbers to provide." The lady at the desk went on to explain company policy, blah blah blah. I replied, "That's ridiculous. That's a stupid company rule." EXACT WORDS. I'm sure my tone was less than pleasant and that my eyes rolled,, but I did not curse at all. She retorted, "Please don't use profanity in our business setting." I repeated what I had said, and then asked which word did she considered profanity? She deferred saying the question was unprofessional with a bad tone. I thanked them sarcastically, signed the new contact information form, and let them know I'd be moving out as soon as we secured another storage unit. That was 6 weeks ago. I moved out last Saturday. I do not recommend this business. I'm giving 2 stars, but that is attributable to the old staff. I cannot determine whether the new staff, or possibly a new owner, is mandating these changes. Needless to say, treating long-term customers like this is not something I will tolerate. It feels great to have left. Six months with the new staff was more problematic than 21 years with the old staff. Sally, the old manager, if you're reading this, we both hope you enjoy your retirement and we want to express our appreciation for everything you and your staff did for 21 1/2 years. So let me start by saying I did not do business with this so called family owned business. I went in today to get a 10×15 storage and I got yelled by an older lady because I didn't park at the visitor parking. Fine, my fault for not reading the sign. I go in and this older lady I guess Ann is her name just had the worst attitude. No sense of customer service at all, I asked to see how big a 10×15 looks and she said she cannot show me one or she can show me stage one something in that line. I asked for my ID back and let her know that her attitude sucks and left. If you need storage in East county. Go to Rockvill off of Magnolia. It's a new facility and staff actually knows what customer service is and how treat people. read more

I was in a tight spot when I had to find a place to store most of my life, and I am genuinely grateful that I stumbled across this place. The staff has always been kind and helpful, but most importantly, I feel like my stuff is safe here. Prices are good, the facility is clean and kind of tucked away, which I like. I really would recommend this storage facility. I also greatly appreciate that making payments online has been an option from the get go despite this not being some big corporate run storage brand. That was a really nice perk. I've had issues with logging in before or needing to change my associated email, and they have always been helpful and quick to resolve any issues. Yeah it's brand by Hispanic people now that have a horrible attitude to white people. This place has gone down hill every since the old staff left. I am done with their attitude. They up my rent by another 10$ so this makes 20$ I have no clue what happened here the old staff was so nice and sweet. New staff is horrible i have been renting here for about 5 years now. They keep upping the rent. It is getting really ridiculous another 10$. When i first rented here it was 85$ a month. Now its going up to 140$ a month. This is over I believe 3 years. You can get unlimited 10$ credits to refer a person. However i would not do this to anyone i like. This was a 5 star review until today with the call and voicemail i just got. I do not like the new people who took over. I have had 2 locks on my storage unit for 4 years. It has never been a problem until today the lady gets a stick stuck up somewhere. I have always pay my rent on time for years now. I have never once been late on my rent. Yet you call me and threaten me with fees saying that you're going to cut my lock off if I don't come remove it. This is not the best way to deal with things. I will also be giving my 30 day notice! I do not know who you think you are threatening me. There are much nicer ways to deal with this. Also they are buying good reviews by offering money off rent for a 5 star review. (Received half off on my first months rent plus a lock for the storage unit itself)-Storage units are well maintained and very clean. You can even be billed on line for your storage rent and pay the rent on line too. Have no doubts that I will use them again when I have need of a storage facility. When I went there to rent a unit (because my previous storage place had raised my rent a 4th time) I asked about how often they raise it. She said "oh very rarely. Maybe once every few years or so. I can't remember the last time..." Then after I moved my stuff in, they raised my rent 3 times. First was when the special "move-in rate" expired. Seems their "costs went up." What costs? I finally moved my stuff and closed my account. I would not characterize this "family business" as friendly either. Kind of a "if you don't rent it, someone else will" attitude. Doing you a favor by letting you give them money every month. And please - do NOT screw up entering your code on their funky keypad or you'll get the dreaded "eye-roll and deep sigh." They're betting you're too busy or lazy to move - and they're right as far as most people are concerned (not me). I highly recommend that you do NOT use this storage. The early closing hours are not appealing, and in special circumstances the management are not willing to work with you. While the automatic bank payments are convenient, if you are moving out one day past the monthly date, you will be charged the whole month for one day. We are military, and the movers that came to pack our HHG for PCS were not allowed entrance to the property. It was never disclosed that only trucks a specific size are allowed in. These inconveniences cost us time and money and a whole lot of frustration. My mother-in-law used another storage unit in Santee, and they were much better than these guys. I suggest to keep researching in the search for storage units in the Santee area, I wish I had. read more

I enjoy coming to my storage unit because the staff at American Eagle is very helpful. They really know their office and business procedures and can relay them well. I feel my items are safe and secure because of their location and check in procedures. You actually must go into the office and a one-on-one face visual while you're inputting you security code. For starters they are well adapted to throwing out the old Stink Eye. Ann at the front desk is not very business savvy. I usually pay on site vs. via Internet ect. so I get first hand of how frustrated the elderly staff is. I walked in to pay my monthly bill and was greeted as usual with no smile or fuzzy pleasant feeling, as if they are doing me a favor. I offered to pay 2 months and she quickly let out a Big HHHHHHHA!!!! as if she was 15 years old and I asked her to take out the trash. Apparently she already put in a 1 month credit and obviously couldn't be bothered with redoing any of it!!! This business needs a FRESH upgrade but I can tell they are not interested in customer service because they know there is another hundred people coming in right behind you. We're moving out of state after the new year and I can't wait to yank our stuff out of there. Too much trouble to switch businesses now. To anyone looking, there are plenty of storage units in Santee so take another look. read more
