If you are an adult beginning ballet, THIS is the place for you. I started with Alexandra in…read morebeginning ballet in Feb 2018. The adult class started with a handful of beginners, and over three terms, the class grows and grows, because some of us stuck out the year, and new people either return to ballet from prior training, but many start from zero. This makes sense to me, that people are searching for dance and fitness activities outside the gym and in new and engaging ways. I'm nearly 50, fresh off the couch, and am always pleased by the diversity in class in every way. I also expected to be the only male, and that has never been the case from the very start. If you are self-conscious, please know that this is a completely safe, non-judgemental space for all abilities, all sizes, all ages. Was fortunate enough to add another class per week and work with Camilla as well. Both instructors are great. The teaching is clear and compassionate (ballet is super difficult, and they acknowledge that). I appreciate the personal notes they give me, always pushing me to do and be better, but in kind and reasonable measure. The facility and parking off Boardwalk is a saving grace (downtown A2 is a no go for me), the studio is new, bright, huge, airy. With the Aviary across the hall, the people watching and atmosphere in the overall facility is fun. I highly recommend this school. I plan to dance with them for years to come, it's always a pleasure to attend class. Of course, be warned that if you have never danced ballet, expect lots of frustration. But at this school and with these instructors, it will get better.

I've danced here since I was a young child and I have enjoyed every minute! For children, the…read morestudio teaches based off of the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabi; for the adult open classes, it is a mix of Russian, Cechetti, and British methods. Alexandra teaches the younger kids and is great with them. She is friendly, fun, and a great teacher all at the same time! Camilla teaches the teens and adults and has a much more stoic and serious aura, but is equally as friendly and as great of a teacher as Alexandra. There is a range of abilities, ages, and levels; everybody is welcome and can work at their own pace. The instructors are very understanding of the different strengths/weaknesses that different students have and give just the right amount of corrections. For the adult open classes, certain classes have a variety of levels of dancers, and different students are able to dance to the level that they are best challenged. All of the dancers are also very friendly and hard-workers. Please stop by!

The teachers and staff truly care about their students, their technique and their training. My eldest is on the company team and the growth I have seen from her not only in dance, but as a young lady is something I am so proud of. The studio has taught her teamwork, hard work and dedication. It has also sparked such a beautiful passion for dance that has now been passed to her little sister. I am grateful for the years we have spent here and look forward to many, many more. I would recommend Milford Dance Academy to anyone!

The owner is extremely kind and does a way better job of remaining professional with people than I ever could. People are people. Some days are good and some days are not so good. If you really want to know what the studio is like, call them and speak to them. There are several meetings, facebook posts, texts and newletters that explain what the policies are, what is going on, etc.; so you are well-informed or not paying attention. When you accept a job, it would make sense that you know what your salary is before you start. Who gives a shit what Tara pays people? She can't underpay them if they accept her offer. This review is really just a suggestion to consider more than what the haters are saying. Reviews are garbage and so are negative mean people.

TL/DR: This place is a high pressure money grab, zero attention to detail, extremely disorganized,…read moreand they round out the nonsense by charging your credit card for 16 weeks of classes without your authorization. First, I purchased a four class Groupon to test the waters with my finicky 4 year old. But the "auditions" to participate in their JUNE recital (five months away) were before the lessons even started. We were told that unless we paid the 16 week tuition before the lessons started, we couldn't participate in the recital. But then, a month later in I get an invoice showing a recital costume on it, because SURPRISE! Planning a 3 minute recital for a small group of four year olds doesn't actually require five months of vigorous planning. So much pressure to purchase over nothing. That was the first red flag that this place is a bust. Second, we started in late-January and two weeks in there was a snow day, then the following week they were closed for winter break. So within a month of the winter term starting, we had only had two lessons. Meanwhile, I'm getting emails reminding me to pay my balance pretty much since the first lesson. I started to wonder why they put their business on Groupon if they're not going to give people adequate time to decide if they want to commit and purchase their services? Red flag #2. Third, and this seems petty, but when I finally followed the link to see what my tuition balance was, I saw they spelled my daughter's name wrong. It's not a complicated spelling either, so I'm not sure what the issue was here. She was also put into a Wednesday class, when I clearly enrolled her in (and had been bringing her to) a Saturday class. My enrollment was done over the phone, so maybe the person I spoke to just wasn't listening to me. Either way, red flag #3. Forth, and the BIGGEST red flag was that they charged my credit card $200 without my authorization. To enroll in classes you need to provide a credit card number, but they promise nothing is charged without authorization. Up until now I was willing to just let all the nonsense go to see my daughter all cute up there on a stage. But now? No. This place is ridiculous, disorganized, and I will not be giving them my business. And I urge you to think twice before you give them yours, too.

She wasn't overly excited about the chosen dance costume, but she isn't even in the recital because we are out of town. Gotta take 4 year olds with a grain of salt.
