This is a very busy theater in the heart of Poway. I had never been there before today. We went to a 3:00 show. Is was a cool, sunny day in SoCal. I'm very grateful that this place has nice comfy HEATED recliners or I would have had to lose the $25 we paid for the movie. I'm also very grateful that I am always prepared for anything. Before the movie began I had to run out and grab every sweater and blanket in the car. I even brought in enough to share with strangers. It seemed to me that everyone was cold, with good reason because my phone said that it was 55 degrees in the theater. Why, why, why? I don't understand the reasoning behind that poor decision. We were excited to hear about the remodel...then we walked through the door. The kid behind the bar serving drinks was sweet, but hadn't a clue how to be a bartender. Which could be understandable at a movie theatre. As we continue on to the excitement of the movie, we sat through 30 minutes of commercials and previews! Brrrrr! This place is fahreeeeezing! My husband and guests who never get cold felt like icicles. Pros: Inexpensive seating; lots of parking; easy to find; rarely crowded. Cons: COLD!; some seats in some theaters are WAY high off the ground (they were going to do some kind of special effect with them at some point, but never did), and are uncomfortable to sit in for anyone under about 5'7"!; lots of deferred maintenance. I'd go back on a Tuesday night ($5 seats), bringing a warm blanket (or a snow coat!), and not sitting in the tall seats, LOL! I'm 5' tall, and even with a footstool, my feet didn't touch the ground! (Yes, I carry a footstool wherever I go, because my feet usually don't touch the ground on most seats. My friends laugh - I laugh at myself - but it works!) My first time going to this theater and i was pleasantly surprised. After reading all the bad reviews on here i admit i was scared to check it out. Glad i did though, the seats are comfy, and the warm up feature was nice, yeah the bathrooms are upstairs but its not a major issue, get in some extra steps! This is a very nice theater that is one of the very few that offer concession delivery to your seat. They have also seemed to have figured out line management, as I have never been waiting long. The staff was quite friendly as well. Didn't give that 5th star because the theater layout is a bit antiquated. The seats are comfortable and recline, but the flooring is not sloped and leads to having to look up more than other theaters. read more

Had a great time with my boys. We watched both boss baby and the new space jam right after. Boss baby was really good. Only thing I will say if you like the Brussel sprouts on the menu I suggest getting there a little early and sit in a spot where the smell won't be so overwhelming for others. I sat next to a woman and her I think 16 yr old and they were kind of rude. She was like eww what's that smell mom tells her and she says well "sorry honey nothing I can do about it." She gave me a look and I gave her one back and well let's just say if looks could kill lol. I'm not gonna let anyone make my time uncomfortable especially if I paid for it literally. This review is about the crew management at this amc in poway. I didn't want to make a review but after what happened I think it's best you guys are aware of this before it happens to you guys!!! So I am wearing shorts and the shorts have a small hole in the left pocket. My right pocket is only for my phone and my left is for my keys and vape pens & money etc... I went to see smile at 7:45pm on September 29, 2022, it was the last showtime for this showing and the amc was soon about to close when the movie ended. I went back to my car and notice I don't have my raw garden vape pen anymore. I know for sure it fell out my pocket and is in the theater. I go back to check for it and the amc staff lets me in no problem. I couldn't find the vape pen, I searched by myself in the dark with my phone light. Next day I come back because I'm very bummed about my raw garden pen being left in an amc. I showed up early the next day around 9-10 am & there was a lady, luckily, walking inside so I knock on the door to get her attention. THIS IS THE PART WHERE I MESSED UP & WHERE YOU GUYS SHOULD NOT. I told this lady my story and she said she can go check for me, AT THE TIME I THOUGHT IT WAS FINE BECAUSE IM DEALING WITH POSSIBLY AN AMC MANAGER OR SUPERVISOR BUT no . I'm sure this lady took my raw garden pen because though raw garden is an outstanding company, not a lot of people still know about them. So I knew once she knew what a raw garden was, she was a smoker herself. I'm sure she went inside to check and she found my pen and another persons . She came out and asked me if the other person pen was mine I said no . She said sorry that is the only one I found . I said okay and left but stayed near because it just didn't feel right. THEN about an hour later I come back and ask to search again, the same Lady helps me again but my girlfriend goes with her to check because we feel like this employee IS A THIEF & IS NOT HONEST. The employee shows my girlfriend an easier way to lift the amc seats to check underneath them. My girlfriend then realized that had the employee done this herself, spotting the raw garden would be obvious. It's such a shame that lady lied to me. Because tho it may seem like a lie that can forever live, it isn't because there was only a few locations that pen could be & I know for sure she took it. If not, then it remains in the amc seats but that is not likely due to the exposure of beneath the seats when lifting them. This was theater 10 DOLDY CINEMA. It must have been the movie. The place itself is a museum of sorts, tottering on the brink of dereliction. Quaint if you can see the charm, cost-effective if you are a penny-minder. Yes, this place is old and a bit defunct. Yes, the seats have rips and get a little uncomfortable after a while... but in a lot of ways this theater rocks: - cheap tickets - has lots of parking so you don't have to navigate a garage or walk a mile - offers military discounts - is usually pretty empty so you never face lines - you don't have to get there 40 minutes early to get a seat - I've gotten there multiple times as the movie was starting to buy a ticket and STILL got great seats! this theater also has a cool old school vibe; staircase that twists up to the second floor, wooden arm rests on the seats, and drapery in the theaters. read more

I've been going to this theatre for years and, unlike others, I can confidently give 5 stars. Why? Because of five important reasons: 1. They know me by name. 2. All 1st showings every day are still $6 3. Their Rewards Program is Great! 4. They still have GREAT special events! 5. They have $6 Tuesdays & Thursdays! Movie theater only for kids, adults stay away!!! You are a working adult and want to go to a movie late at night? No no no. U cant go to a movie theater after 7:30pm weekdays. U must sleep early. This theater closes at 7:30pm at weekdays. All other theaters like edwards and angelika has 10pm , midnight showtimes but amc poway employees and manager wants to go home early. Ok digiplex- get your act together. It's been awhile since you took over. Service is always done with a smile, and I can appreciate that. The last two times I came there was no coffee. The prices aren't bad compared to many movie theaters. I do love your 6$ days as well. However, please make sure you have more than one employee staffed to sell tickets and food. He was an awesome gent and did his best but the line was close to the door and I didn't need to buy any food so there was no reason for me to wait that long in line. I came here many years ago just because it is local but it was absolutely terrible. I swore never again! I was finally convinced to go witness the glory of the remodel and I must admit the experience was better than I expected. You don't get to order from your seat but the delivery to your seat is still great for an AMC theatre. It is a nice comfortable option for kids since the local Angelika theatre doesn't show many kiddie movies. My son especially enjoys the seat warmers! read more

I am giving this theater experience a 5 star, instead of a 4 start, because the pretzel bites were freakishly delicious! To be honest, it's a bit annoying that there is no vestibule before the theater, so anyone opening the door introduces light into the theater in the middle of the event. It's not Cinepolis, let's be honest, but they try very hard. The other thing that bugs is that the bathrooms are upstairs and I have a knee injury. Agh. Have to take the elevator up and hide my eyes as I walk by the men's room upstairs. (I don't peek - honest!) The employees there, though, are the 5 star. That and those yummy pretzel bites. I got pretzel bits in the AMC in Temecula (took my granddaughter to a scary movie and ordered them there) and they were not great. Kudos to the Poway AMC team! read more

SHOCKINGLY RUDE management behavior at AMC DINE-IN POWAY 10, North County San Diego. Manager "Michael". I seldom complain, but this one "takes the cake" and as a consumer I must most strongly push back. While attending Robin Hood on Sunday 11-25, I, my wife, and seat neighbor were not able to hear the soft talking of the major movie characters. I stepped out and mentioned the low volume to a non-snack counter person. About 10 mins later, the low volume problem persisted. We couldn't quite hear the interactive conversation. So I got up again and went out to the lobby. This time I spoke with Jun Jun, asst manager I think. He apologized and offered to give me 2 complementary tix. Then seemingly-annoyed Michael (manager) stepped in. Rather anxious to return at this point, as I'm missing the movie, Mgr Michael WAS NOT RECEPTIVE AT ALL. As Jun Jun handed me the complementary tix, Michael snaps them out of my hand!! Aggressive body language, he rudely proclaimed I don't deserve them. I was taken by complete surprise. Can anyone imagine this shocking interaction? I shall forward this to the Poway AMC manager, their regional manager, and AMC national director of services. THIS BEHAVIOR IS TOTALLY OUT OF LINE. In this era of customer service, AMC Poway is clueless, sorely misses the mark, and staff very poorly trained. THINK TWICE ABOUT PATRONIZING this AMC movie theater. I will start with the positive. The flavor of the food was good. As we walked in, there were about 4 people in the ticket booth but because we bought our tickets online we walked in. As we waited for someone to scan our tickets, I noticed a lady from the ticket booth we just passed tell us we needed to come to the booth. I went back outside and she said they didn't have a scanning person. There was no one standing in line so 1 of the 4 could have sat by the scanner. Then we walk up to the food counter because my toddler was hungry so I figured before we ordered our food at the seats let me grab something for her only to realize we have to order at the counter. There is no ordering at you chair. I am so glad we had the gentleman helping us because he kept me calm. As we are figuring the order they tell us the manager had to check the showing as it was not on there schedule. We waited and then ordered. Then made our way to the seats which if these are the upgraded seats are tight even for my healthy size husband. The seats do have warmers so that is a plus. They forgot something we ordered but the same guy that helped us at the counter came and spoke to us and was so sweet. They asked if we wanted something else and we accepted the switch. I think communication has to be better and if there is no rush with customers then have people at their post ready to greet and tend to us. At the end the only restroom downstairs didn't have soap. Instead of someone replacing it, I was told I could take the elevator to the second floor and use another restroom up there. Not convenient when I have a toddler and only needed to wash my hands. It was not a great first impression except for the gentleman who took care of us. He had great customer service and patience. read more

Used to be an Ultrastar. I wish it still was. The place feels old and musty inside. It had an odd smell that wasn't necessarily unpleasant but just kind of "there". I thought i had read somewhere that it kept the Ultrastar pricing, it did not. $12 for a ticket at this place is too much. I can go to other theaters close by that are ten times nicer for the same price or ever less. That being said, i didn't have "bad" time. I think the price that was paid was greater than the value received. read more

I happened to go to this theatre with my brother on Tuesday and the tickets were pretty cheap and he ended up getting popcorn that was only $3!! That's crazy cheap for a movie theatre. The man at the door who ripped out tickets was very nice too! When we got inside the theatre the seats were not going upstairs (if that makes sense). They were all level with the ground so if someone is really tall sitting in front of you then.. You're out of luck. I got lucky though in that respect. My experience was mediocre. I feel they need to have the same rules at AMC pop on the screen where it says no cell phones or talking and don't disrupt the movie. There was an individual sitting next to me that was uber obnoxious talking and yelling DURING THE MOVIE. and as the movie went on other people were taking that as an okay to talk. I've been here before with a better experience so hopefully others will be so lucky. read more

Love taking my boys here to watch a movie! This theatre is great for families with little kids... so if you don't mind the teenagers and young ones watching with you, then this is the theater to go to. Sound and picture quality have gotten better over the years as the theater made upgrades and changes. I think the chairs with the immovable wooden arm rest needs to go, though. Not good for couples who like to cuddle while watching a movie. Price per movie ticket are affordable (we paid $6/person for a matinee showing on a weekend) and the food/candies are priced reasonably. read more

This movie theater has been around for decades. Tonight I took my wife on a date to see a movie there. The staff there were excellent and very friendly! I wish I could say better things about the venue itself but I can't. The venue is the same as its been when I used to go there as a kid needing parental approval to watch PG-13 movies. The seats are super uncomfortable, some seats are even completely ripped up and the screen is "in your face." We sat 4 row from the back and it felt too close. Unfortunately you can't change some things. On a better note, i do like how the theater positions themselves to be family oriented by offering family events and discounts. read more

This place was remodeled a whole back. It has recliner seats with heated seats good food (expensive though). Customer service went up as well. Downside are simple things still uncomfortable. For one pricing for food is ridiculous. Chicken tenders are about $16 (are they-made of Panda?) Second is what happens when people go to a comfortable place they take off their shoes stinking up the place with their smelly feet (that's not on the staff however rules on this would be much appreciated). read more
