I don't think anyone is going to the movies much anymore these days, but when we ever return to glory, this is a theater you definitely want to try. The seating is great because they don't cramp a bunch of people in an auditorium. I think there were like 20 or 24 seats. They're assigned seats when you buy your tickets and they're in pairs. So plan accordingly. And they aren't just regular seats. They're recliners. Probably pleather, but still nice leather imitation recliners. And they're heated! So even if you sit up front like the wife and I... don't fret because the chairs recline so much, it's still a comfortable viewing angle! They also will deliver food to your seat. They call it dine in for a reason, I guess. Oh, and they serve alcohol! The bathrooms were clean, although upstairs, and there's only one... so that's interesting. But the staff was friendly and the prices were typical. I recommend you give it a shot! read more

I like this theatre. Everything was a good experience except... the cashier. He seemed as though he hated having to be there. I bought some concessions for my group and he seemed so irritated when I paid with cash. He shook his head and sighed, then took the bill. He made the change by looking at the cash register several times and then he handed it to me. He left the popcorn on the counter and didn't say another word. I figured out where to get all of the water bottles and found the butter. Not sure what kind of training he's had but a thank is pretty par with most businesses. read more

It's been quite a while since my honey and I have been to our favorite theater. AMC Poway did a fantastic job making sure our experience was as comfy as it can be during these times. My honey and I saw the movie "Nobody" it's a must see! The theater was clean, tidy and staff friendly. We also ordered some food, we went with the southern chicken tenders(a must have!), loaded bacon fries and the fried mozzarella. All of them were amazing however......the loaded bacon fries were a bit cold and they only gave us a tiny portion lol. Luckily the tenders had fries we added to it to make more. Unlike my unfortunate situation in La Jolla a month ago, this time the theater did have air conditioning. It was sorely needed, as the day was toasty and had there been no a/c, I would not have stayed. The young man at the ticket window was very helpful as my A-List app didn't open quickly. Turns out the staff can access your account with an email address, too. Even though I made the decision to see a movie at the last minute, there were still plenty of open aisle seats, which I prefer. The seats are reclining, which makes the experience that much more comfortable. You can order food at the snack bar and have it delivered to your seat, but I didn't avail myself of that option. I did have trouble finding the large restroom but stumbled upon an empty single stall all gender one, so used that instead. It was clean and stocked. The volume in the theater was appropriate for the most part, but for one of the reviews, it blared many decibels beyond what was comfortable. The place was fairly clean; there were no sticky floors or armrests. You should probably allow yourself a few extra minutes for parking because even though the theater is in a huge lot, there are tons of other businesses and it was quite full. I didn't check out the ticket prices, as I was using my frequent viewer membership. Assuming they are in line with other theaters, this one is as good as any to catch a flick. We had an issue during our visit where our gift cards would not work at the concessions counter, even though they were saved in our AMC profile with the balances shown and one of them was previously used to purchase our tickets online before arriving at the theatre. After about 15 minutes of failed attempts to get them to work it was starting to look like we were going to have to pay out of pocket for our food and drinks even though we had gift cards that were more than enough to pay for everything. The manager on duty Hector saved the day for us. Very helpful and knowledgeable and was able to prevent our experience from becoming a frustrating disappointment and ruining the movie. I am very happy with this location. The service is always friendly. The closed caption devices are always charged and work MOST of the time, and I have never had access issues for my service dog. The heated recliners and freestyle soda machines make for a fantastic experience! read more

Waiting for at least previews to start, we came here early and now it's already 10 minutes passed the officially start time and everyone's wondering what's going on. It's too quiet and everyone's whispering about how weird this is. Update: 15 minutes passed start time. Mind you, it was a slow evening, so understaffed shouldn't be an issue even. This theater missed the mark for me unfortunately. We ordered food and it was delivered to our seats but my order never made it. I waited over an hour before I went to see what happened and missed pieces of End Game. I just wanted a refund but it took them over 5 minutes to get it figured out, I was also given a voucher but the expiration date is 3/31/19... on the positive side the seats do recline and for those who get cold there are seat warmers. I would not recommend this theater tho... there are plenty of others that offer a better experience. read more

While in Poway waiting for my car to be maintenanced, my boyfriend and I found ourselves with a few hours to spare and decided to catch a midday movie to pass the time. There were only two movies starting around the times that we needed, so we opted to see Ad Astra. The movie was awful, but that's nothing against the theater. The sound and graphics were great and I was pleasantly surprised to find reclining seats. Living in La Jolla, I frequent the AMC La Jolla, which is a fairly upscale movie theater, only to be beat by Cinepolis, so I will admit that I am a bit of a movie theater snob. I had been to the AMC Dine-In Poway before many years ago; it was not great and I wasn't really excited to go again. The remodel is awesome and definitely worth the few dollar price increase to be more comfortable. read more

This theater has undergone a huge upgrade! I hated it when it was the Ultrastar, and would go elsewhere even though this was closer. It's been turned into an almost luxury movie theater. They have alcohol, recliner seats, and the freestyle coke machines. The popcorn is almost always fresh and delicious. The bathrooms are upstairs, which doesnt make any sense, but I understand it's always been this way so I'm hoping they have that on their list of to-do's. The seats are MUCH thinner than most luxury movie theaters (like Angelika, Cinepolis) so if you're hefty, it might get uncomfortable. I signed up for the AMC A-List because I go to movies for than twice a month and it made total sense even though it's about 22 minutes away from me. My only qualm is that they dont have every movie that other theaters are playing and they rarely have 10pm or later showings which is normal everywhere else. Wish they would add those. read more

Too bad that in a short time since the remodel, the theatre is already becoming run down and dirty. There is/was a huge hole in the tile floor close to the theatre entrance, (somebody from Poway rode their horse into the lobby?) the carpet is stained, dual use bathroom doesn't look like it's been cleaned, bathroom walls closest to the WC are stained, toilet doesn't flush automatically, etc. etc. Upstairs men's restroom needs work. Tape covers electrical boxes that are uncapped. Depending on the movie being shown, patrons disregard theatre etiquette and walk into the seating area with their phones on. We were excited to hear about the upgrade to amc so we came to see a movie. Overall the theater is nice and the heated seats are a big plus. Unfortunately there were some issues that made us decide not to come back. 1. The projector lens was dirty. There were large spots on the movie that clearly must have been dust particles (theater 8). It really affected the quality of the viewing. 2. The food. Entrees costs around $15 to $18 and is fast food quality, served to you in cardboard boxes. We left the theater hungry. In addition, for some reason, they didn't bring napkins with the flatbread pizza so my husband had to leave the movie to get those. read more

Compare to the old Digiplex, this renovated theater is amazing. I go here all to time due to my AMC Pass. Sorry, Regal, AMC gets my money. Thanks to this theater, despite being small, it is comfortable and quite accommodating. Nice customer service! I love how you can reserved seats! And can tell if the theater is crowded or you have it own your own. One time, I was the only one watching, it feels like my own cinema while eating my delivered Western BBQ burger! This is the place! And I love it. One concern is the restroom; it is located upstairs. There is one on the right side, but it is a family restroom. It sucks when you are rushing, you have to go up to pee. read more

This is your substandard, "no-frills," type of movie theater that simply gets the job done. You don't come here expecting to have a glass of wine in your hand and someone catering food to you so it doesn't make sense to compare it to luxury theaters like Angelika. Like some people mentioned, Tuesdays are the way to go with $5 movie tickets all day + drinks and popcorn ($2-$4 depending on size), and candy ($3) all going for discounts. Another cheap way to go is to catch the first showing of any movie in the day time. This will only cost a measly $6 regardless of which day you go. I've been here since the days it was known as the Poway Ultrastar and honestly not much has changed since then besides the fact that it's got a lot older and shoddy. The seats are a little beat down and the smell can be rancid at times. This place can use a major upgrade but since none have been made since I can remember, I doubt it will happen any time soon, if ever. The staff here is very friendly and always happy to assist. You shouldn't have a problem parking here since this movie theater draws considerably fewer crowds than most theaters. I like coming here when I can get a cheap ticket for $5-$6 and skip over the hoards of people. Tickets prices can go up to $12 during the evenings though so I would recommend another theater if you're going during prime hours. This place is not worth paying double digits for. But when I'm on a budget, this place gets the job done. read more

WOW! Can I just say, what an upgrade!! They have completed half of the construction and it is AMAZING! So much more space in the theater, recliner seats, the seats even have a heat feature! They will be adding the food/beverage service (like Cinépolis). Of course $5 Tuesdays are awesome! The refillable soda machines (any soda, any flavor) is great. Loved our family movie night!! I accidentally made a mistake somehow with my ticket purchase and the management team made all better without a hassle. The service was amazing from the time we arrived all the way through to end. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. We usually do popcorn and snacks but this time we ordered the food. The Brie Burger was delish!!! This was one of our most enjoyable movie nights and thanks the the entire team. I do miss my wine in a glass instead of a small plastic cup. Pretzel bites and a beer from their bar are a must! Can't wait to go back! This theater has gone through a major remodel. all the theater rooms have reclining chairs and seat warmers. This is considered to be a "AMC Dine In" theater, meaning they have more food options rather than just your standard popcorn and nachos (which you can still get if your heart desires) I usually don't order food or snacks when I watch movies, but for whatever reason, the "ultimate nachos" are my latest obsession, and I always get it. at the time of this review, the only thing they need to do to finish the remodel is fix the signage out front, and add a full service bar for alcohol. I strongly recommend people to get on their AMC Stubs A List. For $20 per month, you can see up to 3 movies PER WEEK. it resets every Fri. The average ticket cost is in the ball park of that price anyway, so going just once a month, you'll virtually break even. it's a huge plus that you can easily make reservations on their app, and it's easy to cancel if something comes up last minute. My only knock I have on this theater is the only premium format they offer is 3D. I was hoping during the renovation, they would add either IMAX, Dolby Cinema (or both), which could have took this theater over the top. read more

I want to like this place more. I really do. I dont go to the movies all that often, so as of late, I will cough up a few more dollars to go to the 'luxury' theaters like Cinepolis or Angelika. Tickets here are understandably less expensive, so thats a nice draw, but I just have not had a good experience here, including my most recent visit. I came here to watch Moana with my 4-year old. Bought the tickets online, picked them up at the front, then got in line to get some snacks. There were 2 lines, but one register was not working, so you would get to the front, order, then have to go to the back of the other line to wait to pay. Why not just have one line? I ordered my items, a juice box for my son (they were out of them, so I got a water instead), large popcorn with butter, and another water for me. The got the items, then off to the other line I go. I get to the front to pay after no joke, a solid 10 minutes, and poof, the items I had ordered and were brought to the counter were gone. So I order again, few more minutes and we were off. These are young kids just trying to earn a few bucks, I totally get that, but getting some better type of process in place comes from the top down. We get to the theater, the seats are not too comfy, maybe I am spoiled though. The movie itself was fine, not too packed, but the popcorn was awful. My son, who loves popcorn, had a handful then was like nah, so I just threw it out. If you are going to cough up that kind of dough to go see a movie and maybe get some snacks, you may be better off going elsewhere. If you are just trying to go see a movie and nothing else, this place will do. read more

We went to see a movie at this Theater, and this was our first time at this location. The first thing that happened was as someone was exiting the theater. We went in that door that was next to the box office and was greeted by a rude employee yelling at us to go over there and have our tickets scanned. The lines where long and took way to long to get our popcorn and drinks. During the movie , every time someone would leave and re enter the theater you could here the door slam, ruining the movie. It coast us over $50 for 4 people to go and another $40 in concessions and it was a Bad experience. We will not be going back to this theater again. read more

It can get extremely busy on $5 Tuesday and the place can look like a mess at times. My only issue is that the swinging doors that lead into each theater room does not shut quietly. Now that MoviePass has turned to total shizz, we have invested in AMC's Stubs A-list program. This AMC theatre is the closest to my house, so this is where we tend to go. Thankfully it has turned into a higher quality theatre that has heated recliners and food delivery to your seat for $1 extra. The recliners aren't as comfy as AMC LaJolla or Angelika, but they are adequate enough and they're heated. I hate how the main bathrooms are upstairs... when you want to take a quick bathroom break during a flick, there is one unisex loo on the first floor with one toilet. This bathroom is rarely attended to (messy and smelly) and is frequently out of toilet paper and seat covers. This is super annoying and gross. There also needs to be a dedicated staff person at all times keeping the floor clean. It makes a huge difference if you want to be seen as a luxury cinema. Walking around with popcorn crunching beneath your feet as soon as you walk through the doors doesn't scream luxury by any means. Overall 4 stars for value and the improved theatre. Minus 1 star for overall cleanliness in the lobby area, walkways and downstairs loo. read more

The remodel looks great, and what a stark difference! I used to avoid the this theatre when it was an Ultrastar, but this might be my new favorite one. The seats are new and up to my AMC standards -- meaning they recline and are heated. There was a small, oily spot on my seat and an employee offered to have someone come clean it right away. But it was small so I opted to grab a cup of water and a napkin and clean it myself since the movie was starting soon. The initiative and offer for quick service didn't go unnoticed though! The theatre rooms are pretty small, which is great since it reduces the likelihood of having "that" person (adult or child) that talks too much or disturbs the movie. I also like that there are reserved seats online so that we know exactly where we're sitting and can just walk in right before it starts. However, the doors are directly in the back, so each time someone walked in or out, light from the hallway outside would shine through and disrupt the movie. It happened a lot and was bright enough for me to notice each time. They had a bar, which I didn't take advantage of. Although small, it's nice to have the option. Line for concessions went kinda slow but not too bad where you'd miss your movie esp with reserved seating. My brother told me the restroom looks as if they left it from when it was still operating as Ultrastar. The rest of the theatre looks great but you can definitely tell they skimped on renovating the restrooms, if they renovated at all. After hearing that, I opted to wait until I got home instead. read more

Okay - I have to say I was impressed with this new theater. This was my first time at this location (not sure how different this place is now vs when it was non-AMC). Layout seems to mirror Angelika Carmel Mountain. Love the price was pretty good vs Angelika/Cinepolis and I found the food to be pretty good. Had the hamburger and was pretty satisfied with flavor and the fresh bun. As far as the seats - I like the fact there's tons of leg room in the theater and while I wasn't sure how they were going to find my seat to deliver my food - but it all worked out fine. Seats are firm and nice. I did notice the seat width is a little cozy compared to other places, but when I accidentally hit the seat heater - hello! That's a nice touch on a winter night. Would definitely recommend trying this place out - nice to see AMC is upping their game. read more

First time here - on Christmas Day! We came for a lunchtime showing and ordered food to eat. The prices as others have mentioned were marked up, but nothing unexpected. $15 for burger. $5 for fries. $10 for shake. The machine froze as they were trying to put in my stubs order so they ended up comping our whole meal to make up for the delay. That was unexpected and really great service! Yikes! Our first visit to AMC Poway went horribly. We were inclined to visit because of the Jurassic World Alive promotion. My 11 year old brother (who was very excited for the promotion) and I had just arrived and noticed a sign welcoming anybody inside to purchase from the concession stand. Naturally, We walk in with excitment to sightsee this new AMC theater. We were immediately stopped at the entrance, quite rudley, by an employee named Bree and her manager, named Ray. We were told we needed to purchase a movie ticket in order to enter. I pointed out, to the manager, that the sign by the entrance welcomes everyone in and to the concession stand (the sign clearly says you do not need to purchase a movie ticket). He paid very little attention to what I was saying and kept repeating himself. I felt as though both employees believed we had intentions to sneak into a movie screening. My brother and I were just trying to figure out this AMC theater we had never been to before. Obliged to follow, we went back outside and in line to purchase tickets. My brother and I were completely taken aback because the employees were extremely friendly to the other guests, it felt disciminatory. At this point, we decided NOT to purchase two tickets to Solo, the new Star Wars movie. In short, both my brother and I felt unwanted and we were treated poorly for no reason. When it came time to buy tickets, I bought one random ticket to a movie called Adrift and left immediately after we obtained the Jurassic World Alive promotion (the employee made sure my little brother remained outside). To make matters worse, I bought ONE ticket to a movie called Adrift, but Bree charged my moviepass card for 2 tickets to the Avengers??? This is NOT allowed. The employees are clearly desperate to sell tickets, even at the expense of good customer service. I will not be coming back, ever. The whole experience felt disciminatory. Digiplex has deals on Tuesdays and Thursday. Movies are a flat fee and they also have discounts in the concession stands on these days. There's video games on the main floor to entertain your kiddos. The theatre has plenty of parking but it's a bit outdated. Overall a great spot to bring your family for a movie trip. read more

Theater is renovated and now had wide luxury recliners with heaters. Aisles are very wide. The movie theater was great. Since the theater is new, concession lines, food service and their bar service were slow and took a bit long. A min of 2 Bartenders are needed for long bar lines. They had only one. The lines need a bit of improvement and could move faster. We saw people get out of line from bar and popcorn lines since it was taking too long. Food service to theater was severely delayed. Many people came out of movie asking for their food. Improve concession lines, food service n bar for 5 stars. It's very do-able! read more

This is my favorite AMC theater in San Diego, next to La Jolla (which seems to be much busier). The theaters are fairly small so all seats have a pretty good view, including the front two rows which I usually avoid. I haven't tried the food yet but it looks tasty so I'll have to try it out sometime soon. The seats are amazing! They recline far back so you basically feel like you're at home in bed and there are seat warmers and a tray for food (which you can order from your seat). I like that you can reserve your seats ahead of time so that you don't have to get to the theater super early just for your preferred seats. One thing that did disappoint that last time I was there, was that the movie started about 15 minutes later than it was supposed to, and that was before previews too. PRO-TIP: Sign up for their rewards program online (it's free!). It's easy to rack up points and you get free popcorn on your birthday. Another great perk is half off tickets on Tuesdays! read more

With all the high-end, fancy, leather reclining seats all around in the area, this place kind of seems...outdated. It's ok though because there aren't many people in the theatres, which means more room to spread out and run amok if you want to, I kid. It's nice to have your options for seats. We came here to watch Cinderella with the kids so this gave them an option to not interrupt so many people like the bigger movie theatres. Parking is a little tough since the parking spaces are small and compact and the theatre is in a plaza, so it shares parking spaces with other shops, making it hard to find a spot. read more

I usually take advantage of $5 Tuesdays and it's super convenient to buy tickets on AMC app and reserve my seats. It's nice going in, knowing you don't need to scramble to find seats together. This AMC is also a dine in and you can order food and you give them your seat and theater # and they will deliver your food to you. They have a nicer menu of food selection than just the traditional popcorn and nachos. Definitely check this theater out, as reclining and heated seats are awesome experience. read more
