Ever had one of those vendors that says "I'll get this to you tomorrow!" then goes MIA and doesn't get back to you for weeks? Then read on... As a bride, an event planner, a woman with a full time career and life of her own - I strongly urge you to reconsider using Amber Apple Photography, unless you have months to wait to even preview your photos, much less receive your edited photos, those will take much longer. Here's how my experience went down. Amber is an acquaintance of mine from my younger years. When I found out I was getting married, she was the first person I called to schedule my engagement photos and immediately jumped on the chance to sign a contract with her to do our wedding photography as well. The weeks that went by waiting on her to get me a contract to sign or set up a consultation phone call, should have been my first red flag. Regardless, I moved forward with signing and scheduled our engagement shoot. Fast forward to the week before our shoot, Amber had this whole vision to bring a couch, string lights, and tons of props. One hour before my shoot, Amber texts me and says she hasn't left yet because she can't get the couch to the location (In her exact words "I DON'T THINK THINGS THROUGH!"). Fast forward another hour, I'm leaving my hair and makeup appointment to meet her at our location and her phone is going to voicemail for the next 30 minutes. Mind you - this is an evening shoot and time is of the essence. She finally answers, to tell me that she's been at Target buying a quilt that we don't need, and was never in our vision or any discussion. In conclusion, I scouted and chose the location, brought all props necessary AND ended up taking my photos in near darkness. Needless to say, I only got an hour or less in of photos and zero outfit changes. If this disappointment was not enough, Amber promised me that I would have a preview of my photos in a couple of days (my photos were taken on June 30th), and I didn't receive a PREVIEW until SEPTEMBER 3RD....and I only got 3 photos!! After a huge ordeal, and discontinued payments to Amber for this disaster of a job - I finally received 5-6 more photos on Sunday September 18th. Where the rest of my engagement photos are, I'll never know. The communication was sparse, and meeting any set deliverable was a GINORMOUS challenge for Amber. Amber constantly made promises that she couldn't keep every step of the way. The excuses varied from: - Broken Phone - No Cell Service - No Internet Service - Family Death - Working too many jobs I just urge you to ask yourself...do you have time for all of this? I did not. I am only leaving this review because as a bride and an event planner I am absolutely TIRED of vendors who over promise and under deliver. If you are not qualified to do the work and dedicate the time, but are happy taking customers money - then others should be informed. Please read reviews before using this photographer. I didn't want to have to do this but I feel I have no choice. I would not want someone else to pay over a thousand bucks for photos, and be let down in the end. Here's my story... I met Amber through my sister in law who is practically family to Amber. I loved the photos she took and knew right away that her style was what I wanted for my wedding. Our original package included engagement, bridal, and wedding. I opted out of engagement photos because I had another talented photographer friend who wanted to take our engagements. So the price point we agreed on was bridal and wedding. We never took bridal portraits, I even told her I wanted to wait until after the wedding and do them in the winter.... never happened. A week before the wedding I was urged by family to pick another photographer, I should have listened but I had no time. Apparently there was some sort of breakup and she was having a hard time finding someone to watch her kids. She was an hour late coming to our rehearsal and tagged along to the rehearsal dinner snapping pics all night.... I never asked her to do it, but I also never received those images. My thought..... what in the world is she doing with them if she's not giving them to her client? Fast forward to the wedding. She showed up fairly on time and took tons of photos, I had high hopes. She posted a teaser photo within 24hrs and the photo was GORGEOUS. I was SO excited to see the rest of the images. With multiple contacts she finally had photos on the gallery months later for me to view.... she also said that it was not all the photos. The viewing gallery had way more photos than I thought and I questioned if they were even edited. She would have 3-15 photos of the same thing or type of thing, even duplicates in different areas of the gallery. Even though she uploaded a lot of photos, there were so many that were unusable ( for example, eyes closed, a box of orange juice, etc...) I waited very patiently and Amber would go MIA. She received messages from my husband and mother in law as well. I was promised a flash drive with all photos and it never came. I got married in October of 2015 and I have yet to receive all photos. I don't have any of me walking down the isle, family photos with everyone together, including aging grandparents, my entire wedding party, my guests at the reception, speeches, cutting the cake, and our exit. I am completely devastated. It's been a year and a half and it makes me sick not to have such treasured photos to remember our day. I haven't even been able to print what she did share because her watermark is on every picture. She never gave me my client password for my site. I can only view as a guest. as a photographer and past bride, i highly encourage everyone to look elsewhere for another photographer. here is my terrible experience. back in april/may, i was diagnosed with a disease during my pregnancy. i was put on strict bed rest at week 12 and doctors even questioned if me or the baby would survive. i was always in the hospital and then eventually had an at home nurse by my side. as a wedding photographer for 6 years now, i was forced to pass my weddings along to other photographers. it was hard, but i had to do it. so i posted all my summer weddings in a facebook group and the responses were overwhelming. i got them all covered! one of them was amber. i loved her portfolio, so i gave her a wedding in june. i sent her the details, a screen capture of the contract, done. looking back, i should have had amber sign it as well but i was too sick to meet with anyone. i regret not asking her to come to me. i did the best i could with the situation i was in. fast forward to the wedding day: my second shooter texted me that amber was an hour late. i think she was sick, so i felt bad for her, let it go. then amber texts me that the client didn't pay the remaining balance. i reminded her that it's in the contract that they will pay once the images are edited (which i was going to edit once i was better), but that didn't settle well with amber. at all. i reminded her she agreed to take the shoot and had a copy of the contract with the standards. fast forward again... bride is asking me for her photos and i tell her i have the images from the second shooter but not amber. it's been over 3 months. i had been trying to get a hold of amber this whole time. i posted on her social media, texted, called, everything. well, some other brides saw my posts trying to reach amber, so they reached out to me saying they were having the same issues with her! radio silence, no photos. it was sad that two other clients of hers were experiencing the same thing. after a couple more months, i finally hear from amber! her list of excuses were pretty lengthy. most of it being a broken cell phone. i tell her she just needs to send me the images so i can edit them and she'll get paid. i already had the second shooters images, so she didn't need to worry about that. i was doing her quite the favor. she would be getting paid, not me (not even for my time spent editing). what does she do? sends me ONLY the second shooters images. i contact her again... radio silence. she has now blocked me on every form of social media and on her phone. the bride is heartbroken! it's been over 8 months! what was the most special day of their lives is now marked with this horrible behavior, all because amber didn't get her money right away. she won't talk to me, the bride, the second shooter, no one. the couple doesn't have the majority of their photos. all amber had to do was turn over the images to me and she would have gotten paid. or if she really wanted to edit them herself, she would have gotten paid! i hired her under my business, so that's why i offered to edit (and the client asked me to edit because she liked my style). amber did me a favor while i was on my death bed, but she repaid us all by stealing images. my heart hurts for the bride most of all. because of this, i now require all clients to pay their remaining balance no later than the wedding day. the reason i had it set up to be paid when images were ready is because i know how expensive weddings can be, plus the honeymoon. i wanted my clients to have some extra money for the honeymoon instead of worrying about paying me right away. i pray i'm never in a situation like that again, but if i am, i will never hire amber and my contract now protects my clients from people like her. read more

Amber is unprofessional and a disappointing investment. She was incredibly slow to respond to emails before the shoot, and then she was 20 minutes late for my shoot. She suggested the location, then had no plan of where she wanted to take the pictures. We wandered all over, passing some places multiple times, waiting for her to direct us where to pose. Instead of telling us where and how to sit/stand, she said things like, "Okay, ummm, yeah, like that..." One of the few times she did direct us, she told us to arrange in such a way that there were awful shadows on our faces. She made far too many comments about using Photoshop to fix any imperfections in the pictures. She had no equipment, and held her phone and keys under her arm while trying to take pictures. I mean, really, how hard is it to put your stuff in a bag? After the shoot, we didn't receive our images for almost 2 months. That is an absurd amount of time. She was told that the goal of the shoot was to get one particular shot, with others if we had time. I received only one image of the shot I wanted, and about 15 other images. Every picture I received was so photoshopped that I didn't even look like the same person. When I tried to contact Amber about my dissatisfaction, she took amazingly long to respond, and basically said, "I don't have time for this. You got what you paid for." In addition to my terrible experience, I have seen several people comment on her Facebook page asking if/when they're going to receive their pictures. When she shoots weddings, she posts on Facebook asking if any of her friends can help her out because she doesn't have an assistant. If you need an assistant, hire one- a professional. Somebody who knows what they are doing. Wedding photography is valuable and I would be tremendously angry if I knew that the photographer I hired was running around at the very last minute looking for an extra pair of hands, and for someone to watch her kids. This is a business transaction for which people pay good money. Amber does not provide the level of professionalism one would expect from a professional photographer. read more
