The person who answered the phone said "how would I know?" when I asked what I should do and told me that they could only help me if I needed to get into the united states. Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the point of a (US) embassy to help citizens who are abroad, not necessarily only trying to enter the US???? Ended up buying a 270$ train ticket to come back to paris and get my passport but very unhappy with the embassy's response.

We emailed and then told us that it would take 2 days to get back to us. 2 Days later the email we get basically states that they don't deal with this stuff. OK, so a Lawful Permanent Resident cannot get back to the USA because a British Airways Flight attendant apparent has more power than the US embassy in Paris. Everyone I have meet who WORKS here is a grade a A-HOLE, and the few who are not are unpaid summer interns who are often doing jobs they should not.

Checking in was easy and quick which was nice. The room was small with a view of the lobby roof which was dirty and the backs of other buildings, not too surprising. They accommodated us with a crib for our infant and an extra single bed for our 4 year old. The room became more and more hot through out the night and the thermostat did not work so we were baking a bit. The location is great! It is in the 8th arr. of Paris with the Louvre a block away and the Champs- Elysées right up the street. If you want to stay in the heart of Paris and are not planning on staying in your room too much then this may be a good bet. Though you may find better prices on places in other arrondissement's. We wanted to be close to the embassy as our appointment was first thing in the morning.

The hotel is irritably small and their "main" restaurant is closed for the entire month of August because the French need 30 breaks per year.
